WORKWEAR Make no mistake: All of our workwear is made for your working day. Whether you are an electrician balancing on the top step or a plumber squeezing under an uncooperative kitchen sink, everything is designed for the way you work.

Shooting ourselves in the foot. The problem with Base is that the clothing in this range is woven with a higher proportion of cotton on the inside for better comfort, and more polyester on the outside for extra durability. It comes in a wide range of colours. The seams are reinforced. Like all of our workwear, Base is designed for the people who wear it. So what is the problem? Base is crazily inexpensive. Your good craftsmanship is our good craftsmanship, so we couldn’t make less-attractive clothing, even if we gave it an attractive price. We’re not going to get rich from Base. Maybe we’re shooting ourselves in the foot (read about safety boots on page 49) – but Base is no poor man’s Synfiber. Quite the opposite: Everything we stand for is sewn into every garment.

With CoreHunk, we went all-out and gave the trousers a wealth of features. The calf pocket was created because we noticed that you’re often in a kneeling position when you’re working. The upper number placed to the right of the EN label indicates the class of protection for the garment and the lower number specifies reflective material. EN iso 11612 Flame-retardant/ ANTIFLAME Work clothing which complies with requirements in this European standard, and shall protect against short-term exposure to flames and minimum one type of heat. Synfiber’s safety clothing provides the following protection: A, B1, C1. Some garments also have E3 and F1. EN 1149 electrostatic properties The garment is certified in compliance with EN 1149-5, which specifies the requirements concerning product standards for anti-static garments. The garments reduce the risk of explosions due to their anti-static features. This fabric is certified in compliance with EN 1149-3. winter clothing In Norway we have four seasons â&#x20AC;&#x201C; sometimes all in the same day. Winter is King, and working outside in the snow and cold is extremely demanding, meaning that even more is required of your clothes. NO LONGER WET BEHIND THE EARS. When we started making clothes in the 60s, some people thought that we were still wet behind the ears. Maybe they had a point, at the start, but we just carried on focusing on the people we were making clothes for. This is a soft, lightweight and comfortable sole made of composite material, which does not conduct heat and will not affect metal detectors. The toecap should protect against heavy blows/ compression to the toes and should always be used on construction sites. A safety toecap of composite is non-metallic and will concequently not conduct temperatures. Composite requires more space than aluminium, which is used to produce the thinnest and lightest toecap. washing and care of workwear and footwear All garments have washing instructions, and it is important that these be carefully followed. Be particularly aware that garments made of fluorescent material can become discoloured and lose their function if washing instructions are not followed. Regular changing and washing of clothing increases lifetime and reduces accumulated soil. When using a clothes dryer, remove clothing immediately once they are dry. RULES FOR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE of Special workwear– EN 471/EN 11612/ EN 531 • Must not be washed together with other types of clothing. • Should not be soaked prior to washing. • Powerful alkaline detergents, such as spot remover, should not be used. • Detergents containing bleaching agents and/or dissolvents will destroy the reflective material and the colour of the product. • The temperature must not surpass 60 degrees celsius when using a clothes dryer. • Teflon-treated clothing will have reduced water repellency after repeated washes. • The garments should be inspected following each wash. Unlined garments: Quilted garments: MAKS. 50x = Max. number of washes CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE OF EN 343 RAIN GEAR • Rain gear should be wiped clean with a soft cloth or a sponge. No use of washing machine. • Powerful alkaline detergents, such as stain remover, should not be used. • No bleach. • No tumble dry. GENERAL CARE AND MAINTENANCE FOOTWEAR Prior to use, shoes should be stored in their original packaging in cool, dry and clean conditions. In order to prolong the life of your shoes, they should be regularly cared for, and we recommend that you treat your footwear with a wax – or silicone based – product. In this regard, it is of particular importance that you take extra care when applying to seam areas. If your shoes are exposed to moisture, they should be dried in a well ventilated room at normal room temperature, and not in sunlight or with direct heat. Synfiber uses only top grade leather in its products, and this quality of hide tends to have high fat content. Therefore, there might appear white “stripes” in the leather. These stripes are more visible on dark rather than light leather, and can be easily wiped away using a soft cloth. Use of safety footwear • As regards anti-static footwear, it is important to note that the shoe’s anti-static properties can be affected by use of an extra sole or a sole of a different type. • Moisture and wear and tear can deteriorate the condition of the shoes. The shoes must be regularly inspected to ensure that safety norms are being fulfilled. • As regards use of extra soles in footwear with a safety toe, it is important to ensure that there is ample space in the toe region. This can affect the shoe’s protection against blows and compression. • The user must ensure that footwear being used has the appropriate specifications with regard to the safety risks to which he or she is being exposed.
