Airbus, Delta form predictive maintenance alliance are forming a digital alliance to develop new predictive maintenance and healthmonitoring solutions for airline customers worldwide from 2020. Accessed through Airbus’ Skywise online platform, the crossfleet solutions will harness each member’s expertise in airframes, systems and engines. Delta Air Lines will be the first user of the digital predictive maintenance solution. “We look forward to significant enhancements of prediction accuracies through this combination,” Delta’s technical operations senior vice president, Don Mitacek said. “This partnership with Airbus will further develop predictive maintenance capabilities, bringing the deep analytical prowess of Airbus’
Skywise platform in conjunction with the rich technical and operational knowledge of the Delta predictive maintenance team.” This partnership builds on existing technical collaboration between Airbus and Delta. In October 2018, Delta entered into a multi-year contract with Airbus to apply Skywise predictive maintenance to its Airbus A320 and Airbus A330 fleets, which number in total about 400 aircraft. And in June this year Airbus and Delta joined forces to offer Airbus A220 component repair and material services under their A220 flight hour services programme. Airbus’ senior vice president head of digital solutions, Norman Baker, said: “This digital partnership with Delta is a world first, encompassing the major

skills needed by airlines to keep their aircraft operationally ready.” He added that Skywise powered predictive maintenance is widely proven with Airbus customers as the best way to achieve comprehensive insights into aircraft operation issues, enabling users to maintain higher levels of fleet availability. www.airbus.com
Forty plus MRO facilities sign up for Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engine family n More than 40 repair and overhaul facilities around the world have signed up to be repair providers for Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engine family. The global network of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities servicing Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engines continues to grow. By 2020, there will be 10 active GTF MRO engine centers. As engine volume grows, Pratt & Whitney expect the network to continue to expand to include other worldwide airlines and MRO facilities. In 2018, Pratt &
Whitney announced 10 suppliers that will be joining the GTF repair network for the firm’s PW1100G-JM and PW1500G engines. “We have built the GTF MRO network to have an extensive global reach with various engine centers and repair facilities,” said Pratt & Whitney global aftermarket operations vice president, Joe Sylvestro. “With our continued investment in technology, our facilities and our industry-leading workforce, we are well prepared to meet the ever-
growing GTF MRO backlog.” The GTF MRO network is part of Pratt & Whitney’s EngineWise services solutions, which provides engine operators with a variety of aftermarket services. “At Pratt & Whitney, we are intently focused on providing best-in-class service to our customers, day in and day out,” Sylvestro added. The GTF MRO network includes Pratt & Whitney, MTU Aero Engines, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, Lufthansa Technik and Delta TechOps.

Boeing
Digital solutions drive growth n Boeing has announced multiple digital flight operation and supply chain management solution agreements with European airline customers to continue supporting the growing services demand. The agreements have been made with the airlines, Hi Fly, Aegean Airlines, Air Atlanta Icelandic, Neos, Blue Panorama and European cargo operators ACE Cargo and Star Air. At MRO Europe, Boeing also introduced a new Windows-based version of Boeing Mobile Logbook, providing a full-fleet solution to enable flight and maintenance crews to enter and share maintenance information. “We provide digital solutions to increase situational awareness and optimize flight deck operations, across all phases of flight on a global scale,” said Boeing Global Services president and chief executive officer, Stan Deal. “Global Services also helps customers maintain their fleets and operate on-schedule through services and parts support that keeps their airplanes flying.” Air Atlanta Icelandic has signed a five-year agreement for digital navigation charting and Boeing’s Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag services. ACE Cargo and Star Air agreed to multi-year contracts for the Boeing maintenance performance toolbox, an aircraft maintenance solution. Aegean Airlines has signed a multiyear agreement for Boeing’s Jeppesen crew pairing services. Crew pairing adds to Aegean’s digital capabilities and will drive operational crew planning for the airline, supported by data-driven decision making processes. Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly has signed a multiyear renewal agreement for Boeing’s Jeppesen JetPlan services. The JetPlan flight planning engine allows customers to develop, file and view optimized planned routes. Italian operators Neos and Blue Panorama have signed five-year agreements for the Boeing toolbox, also, along with its fleetwide maintenance document management.
solutions specialist ATP CaseBank launched a machinebased learning application at MRO Europe to improve the accuracy of documenting Air Transport Association (ATA) codes. With a medium-sized airline fleet producing 1,000 new records each day, it is common for up to 40% of defects not being flagged correctly to maintenance control. The reason is that most defects are being reported under incorrect ATA codes, the standard used by pilots, aircraft maintenance technicians, and engineers within the industry. The machinebased learning application, ATA recoding, is the latest feature of Casebank’s ChronicX software suite and can automatically predict the right 4-digit ATA code for a defect based on its description, regardless of how it has been entered or reported. “The airline industry has struggled for years with the accuracy of the ATA codes being applied to maintenance issues and its impact on the data they rely on to ensure the safety of their aircraft”, said ATP CaseBank chief marketing officer, James Geneau. The recoding application also continuously learns from user feedback to improve its prediction accuracy with continued usage. Airline teams can now recode all their defects with reduced effort and, Casebank claims, in a fraction of the time it would normally take. According to Casebank, the time saved by maintenance control analysts means that specialist personnel can focus on more critical and costly fleet maintenance issues; and the data they are working with is more reliable, contributing to better and more well-informed decisions. www.casebank.com

n Turkish Technic and Satair have signed a strategic General Terms Agreement (GTA) to facilitate further business growth between the two companies. Under the agreement, Satair will support Turkish Technic with consumable and expendable spares for the Airbus aircraft fleet that is maintained by Turkish Technic. This agreement supports both Airbus standard hardware supplied from the Airbus warehouses in Hamburg and consumable and expendable material from Satair’s warehouses. With this agreement, aircraft part numbers can be added and removed in a dynamic manner to reflect real-time planning and forecast input. “This GTA [agreement] symbolises the trust and respect developed through a close partnership and paves the way for even more advanced solutions in the future,” said Satair’s managing director, Terry Stone. The agreement covers a wide range of distribution channels and provides a single point of contact for all customers and the nearly 290 suppliers managed by Satair. As a result of this agreement, Turkish Technic is expected by both parties to benefit from more stock availability, reduced lead times, planning improvements, reduced vendor complexity and transactional cost savings. Turkish Technic chief commercial officer, Irfan Demir, said: “The cooperation between Turkish Technic and Satair is a milestone in meeting the demands of the market. Without a doubt, this agreement is a great addition to our portfolio to support our customers with maximum efficiency.” www.turkishtechnic.com • www.satair.com
Czech Airlines Technics has introduced an e-commerce portal, e-CSAT.com, for aircraft consumables. Using e-CSAT.com provides customers with online access to an inventory of more than 25 thousand consumable items to the value of $15 million. The inventory was originally procured to support other divisions of the company. The parts available can be used for 95% of service level requests for instant repairs, according to Czech Airlines Technics. The e-CSAT.com website provides a complete overview of products and flexibility in order placement. At MRO Europe, Czech Airlines Technics also announced the launch of an AOG Desk, available 24/7 from November. “We have introduced e-CSAT.com, a new e-commerce portal, to support this [consumables] segment. We also plan to launch an AOG support, available 24/7, very soon,” Czech Airlines Technics director, Petr Dobersky said. “This segment will grow very quickly in the coming years, so we plan to focus more on the promotion of Czech Airlines Technics as an important supplier of spare parts.” The e-commerce portal displays in realtime items for sale alongside their purchase conditions. In addition to the price quoted, the customers are also offered the option of selecting how to collect the ordered goods. The inventory is stored in CSAT’s facility at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Through its network of suppliers and established logistics support, Czech Airlines Technics said it can respond to its customers’ orders quickly. In urgent AOG requests, where a quick response is needed to minimise time of aircraft on ground, the shipment for EU customers will be dispatched within an hour, non-EU customers within about three hours. In other cases, different delivery options will be offered to suit the customers’ needs, Czech Airlines Technics said. www.csatechnics.com 11

Two things. • First, when we developed the IPP® (Integrated Procurement Program) at Satair. It broke with a lot of pre-conceived opinions of what you could and could not do, and it helped to catapult Satair into the major league. • Second, when we developed the pioneering machine-learning concept for prediction of aftermarket spare parts demand, which has now become Beep Analytics. After years where predictive technology has been purely focused on the demand-
side of the industry, mainly centered around preventive maintenance concepts, we are finally getting somewhere on the supply-side of the industry.

CONFERENCE
Disrupting the forecast
MRO Europe conference attendees heard this year that the biggest disruptor the airline industry faces is a Swedish teenage eco warrior
P
Lively panel discussions
ointing at a picture of teenage climate and environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Martin Harrison, practice lead for airlines, aerospace and MRO for consultancy ICF, said: “This is what is going to cause a problem for us. Change in the world and parts of the world, change in behaviour because of climate protesting.” Part of the Market Forecast and Key Trends panel, Harrison pointed out that France and Sweden have started taxing airline fuel, the Netherlands is considering it, and in a related tax, France announced in July an eco-tax of up to 18 Euros for every flight starting next year. Some airlines are not waiting for government action and Harrison cited British Airways as an airline that has already announced that it will offset every domestic flight; where offsetting is paying a non-aviation organisation to reduce its carbon emissions. “IAG [International Airlines Group] they can afford it. Their profit margins are better than the other legacy carriers, better than Easyjet,” Harrison said. The airlines, as a whole, are also looking at how they can more effectively put forward the case for air transport. Harrison explained that in 2020 the International Air Transport Association is to run campaigns to persuade the public that air transport is a public good. Harrison’s message of PR battles and eco-warrior threats could have been heard by up to 600 airline attendees who had registered for MRO Europe
2019, according to Aviation Week Network conferences editor-in-chief, Ed Hazelwood. Giving the welcome speech, Hazelwood, noted that of MRO Europe’s 22 years, the London location was the seventh time the conference and exhibition had taken place in the United Kingdom (UK) and the fifth time in the country’s capital. The UK registered airline, Easyjet’s director of engineering Brendan McConnellogue gave the conference’s keynote speech. His market disruptors included the price of oil, trade wars, Brexit, the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max and the future of cybersecurity. “Trade wars causing uncertainty, Brexit, the price of oil and the need to hedge and airport taxes in UK are too high; we [the UK] are penalizing long haul,” he said. The big unknown for UK airlines is what form Brexit will take. “There will be a lot said about Brexit at this conference,” McConnellogue said, pointing out that Easyjet had already taken action to potentially become an almost entirely EU based airline. “In 2016 we decided to create a European AOC [air operator certificate], headquartered in Vienna. The size of that AOC fleet depends on what happens with Brexit.”
COMPENSATION CULTURE
All these disruptors could mean the fleet forecasts are going to be wrong, and therefore the future MRO sector smaller or larger than expected. Harrison said that when they look back at the past forecasts and what actually happened,
28
Conference.indd 1

Taking questions from the floor
they found that: “total fleet forecasts have been overlooked.” Two disrupting factors that were identified during the MRO Europe Market Forecast and Key Trends session were aircraft retirement and advances in data exploitation. The Impact of Retirements was one of the first sessions on the Wednesday, which saw a full day of sessions. Starting at 9am and with its topics running concurrently, attendees could hear about building operational resilience, structural health monitoring and the impact of retirements. Engines, spare parts, used serviceable material, all come from retired aircraft, but the greater impact speakers of this session kept referring to was the reduction in retirements. “The number of airplanes in retirement has dropped drastically and this is proven by prices in the second-hand market of narrowbodies,” Magnetic MRO sales director Alexey Ivanov said. And those that have been retired are returning to service. The Impact of Retirements session heard again and again about how the Boeing 737 Max grounding was a major factor in aircraft that had been parked, and potentially readied for dismantling,
being put back into service. This trend had the same potential to disrupt the MRO market forecast as a public change of heart about air transport because aircraft would operate longer and fleets would not grow. Greater reliability and higher levels of operational availability, whatever the average age of the fleets, is also another disruptor. This is to be achieved with digital aircraft and at 10am on the Wednesday morning, attendees could learn more about them in one of the four concurrent sessions which included Getting Smarter with Digital Aircraft, Helicopter Fleet and MRO Forecast, The Aftermarket of Tomorrow: How to be a Winner and The Leasing Panel. The importance of, “digital evolution,” had already been referred to by Oliver Wyman Partner and lead CAVOK advisor, David Stewart, during the MRO Europe Market Forecast and Key Trends session. He saw this digital evolution beginning in the early 2000s but really growing in importance in the last few years due to more predictive data services. The use of big data for step-changes in MRO improvement is to be driven by EU law, which the UK airlines are
not expected to be able to avoid with Brexit. McConnellogue pointed out that for the industry as a whole, there can be 1,200 three-hour delays a year, and an Easyjet Airbus A320 has 176 passengers; amounting to a potential annual cost of 52.8 million euros if every single passenger makes a claim. The EU law requires airlines to pay each passenger 250 euros for a threehour delay where the distance to have been travelled is not long-haul. Further distances and longer delays racks-up the passenger compensation. McConnellogue was confident that UK registered airlines would still be subject to the EU law that requires compensation for delays of three hours or more if Brexit takes place. While some delays are caused by weather, McConnellogue saw the EU system of compensation as a major driver for dramatic MRO improvements to almost-end the possibility of any aircraft going tech. MRO has never been more important, from avoiding compensation costs to effective fleet utilisation in an age of uncertainty, only good maintenance and repair will ensure delivery of what the reluctant passenger wants. n 29

GO LIVE
Going from strength to strength
The Go Live Theatre offers free-toattend content on the show floor
The Go Live Demo Theater returned this year with a strong line up of speakers giving presentations on everything from training to laser sintering
T
he Go Live Demo Theater saw a variety of engaging topics from training to interiors, maintenance repair and overhaul to fault management and creative thinking. Kicking off the first day at 11am, Steve Bentley, chief executive officer of the Sofema Group, spoke about delivering effective aviation regulatory online training. “Every single person in this place has got some sort of device, iPads, phones,
laptops everything lends itself to online training,” Bentley said. “Having delivered classroom training for 10 years I now see advantages in online training.” He sees online training advantages of flexibility, easy access, and learning at an individual’s own pace. “There are 3,000 people doing online training on our platform. The capacity is virtually unlimited,” he explains. Sach Obeysekara, KNSI chief operating officer and director, explained how to
scope out interior modifications. “Airlines come to us asking for an expansion of economy class when first class is empty too often,” he said. Obeysekara explained how one airline required first class to be removed and replaced with economy seating. Eleven first class seats had to be removed and replaced with 15 economy seats. A difficulty to overcome was the in-flight entertainment system cabling and ensuring cable lengths were correct for the new seating layout. He added that: “One challenge was aircraft curvature as it was at the front of the aircraft, so cabin divider had to be shaped to match the cabin wall.” Optimising maintenance for greater uptime was tackled by Turkish Technic

senior vice president for production planning and control, Yasin Birinci. Taking care of assets was also the focus of TARMAC Aerosave’s sales vice president, Jose Moliner, where he spoke about assets care during transition phases. EASA Services came next with and a presentation given by ABC International’s engineering vice president, Olindo Spatola, and the firm’s Office of Airworthiness project engineer, Luigi Caracciolo. This year’s MRO Europe saw the arrival of the EASA Services Pavilion, a designated area at the front of the exhibition hall where MROs, airlines and lessors requiring Part 21 (Design and Manufacturing), Part 147 (Training) and Part M (CAMO) services can find specialist firms. The second presentation of the afternoon was by Integra Aerospace’s creative director, Sam Lee, about blended learning. Lee explained how blended learning can benefit an organisation. Then at 2pm, the audience heard about how to avoid unexpected maintenance issues that cause delays from Chris Drew, Oliver Wyman CAVOK senior manager. The mid-afternoon saw a shift to the military sphere and the Aviation Week Network’s Europe, Eurasia, Regional Defense Analyst, Sam Archer tackled military aviation fleets and the MRO
forecast for 2020. Fault management could be said to be key for MRO and Steve Lightstone, CaseBank Technologies’ sales vice president returned to the Go Live Theater for a second year to talk about how maintenance experts can focus on the most costly and critical recurring defects, when they are so hard to find. Airlines need solutions that will help them quickly identify repeats and reduce unnecessary maintenance actions to move to scheduled maintenance, to act on operational threats earlier, and allocate their maintenance resources where they are most needed. Much has been said in recent years about pilot shortages, and Alevtina Fursayeva, Aviation Expert, of Kievbased consultancy A.B.C. Management spoke about the creative thinking that can solve the problem of staff shortages and high turnarounds. Thursday had a strong training presence though it began at 11am with a presentation from engineering consultancy Expleo by its aerospace sales director, Joachim Lau about its laser sintering services. “There is a powder layer which is lasered and then another powder layer is lasered until the part is built up and finished. You can produce hinges, they come out of the machine fully functional,” Lau explained. That hinge was part of a lighter weight, low
n The Go Live Demo Theater located on the MRO Europe show floor had a full line up of expert speakers during the exhibition’s two days and few spare chairs as visitors and exhibitors filled the audience. The Theater hosted sessions, product briefings that was open to all attendees for free. The presentations were given by senior staff from training specialist, the Sofema Group, the consultancy Expleo and maintenance firm Turkish Technic, among others. “After a great response to the launch of the Go Live Theater last year, we were excited to bring it back to the showfloor for MRO Europe 2019,” said Hannah Bonnett, Aviation Week Network Global Exhibitions’ Senior Conference Producer. “We had lots of focused sessions on EASA services as well as a Military Aviation Fleet and MRO presentation and we are looking at even more innovative show floor content for 2020.” The company’s topics ranged from military aviation to asset transition and problem solving.
cost slide arm cover Expleo produces for an airline customer. The training presentations were from Claudio Marturano, founder and managing director of Nubis Aviation, and Aeroteam Training Solutions chairman Michael R. Truelsen. Marturano spoke about innovation within training while Truelsen talked about total training solutions that included gamification. As the morning became lunch time, GO LIVE 2019 ended at 1pm with an Aviation Week presentation for students about the aerospace industry. One day those students could be giving presentations to the Go Live Demo Theater. n 33

ontract manufacturers, maintenance firms, analytics providers, recruitment and equipment specialists, the Showcase pavilion exhibitors covered a wide range of industry sectors. Any business begins with hiring people, and the Showcase has two recruitment firms. An online recruitment website, Aviation Job Search has a wide range of vacancies. From maintenance engineer to fuel coordinator or crew, jobs at Aviation Job Search can be browsed by category or location and resumes can be uploaded. Employers that use the site include Leonardo, BostonAir, Carbon60, and Alsalam. Another Showcase exhibitor, MPI, specialises in recruitment in various sectors including aviation. MPI has years of experience in support, professional, technical and engineering recruitment. Based across the UK, MPI has its own offices and it is co-located with clients. Whether it is a recruitment office or an
economy class seat, fabric is important for comfort. Hainsworth’s Replin designs and manufactures fabrics for national and international transportation, aiming to enhance the passenger travel experience. Replin creates products that reflect and express customers’ corporate identities. Its customers include designers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and operators. Its products are shipped worldwide with full certification. Beyond fabrics, a very wide range of parts are necessary for aviation and contract manufacturers can help. Mantec Services is an experienced contract manufacturing company, providing proprietary safety bumper and protection products and customized manufacturing services. One. Since 1997, Jet Midwest has specialized and operated as a full-service commercial aircraft, engine and spare parts trader, offering complete end-of-life and creative product support solutions. Regional One also offers aircraft, aircraft parts, engines and engine parts. Regional One is a purchaser, lessor, and seller of aircraft, aircraft parts, engines and engine parts, offering worldwide support to regional and commuter aircraft operators. Its portfolio of aircraft, engines and spares including avionics, hydraulic and fuel system rotables, LRU components, landing gears, propellers, insurance spares such as flight controls and expendables. All these parts need storage and Showcase exhibitor, Varlin Aviation Support Services has worked with airlines and aircraft leasing companies for more than 30 years, specialising in the storage of air spares and the design of racking and handling systems. Such parts are absolute necessities for repair stations. Cima Aviation is an FAA, EASA approved repair station specializing

in aircraft fuel accessories, avionics, and electro-mechanical units, for local and international customers who are looking for reliable and effective maintenance service. A repair station might need to wash an engine. Established in 1978, Rochem Technical Services Group has its own Rochem Jet engine wash system. It says it represents the latest, efficient, effective and low-cost ownership technology for the on-wing cleaning of any type and size of aircraft jet engine. Global aircraft support is BOS Aerospace’s raison d’être and since its inception, BOSA says it has learnt about the operational requirements facing airlines and the issues caused when aircraft are delayed. Understanding airlines needs and market movements is at the core of predictive platform provider Beep Analytics. Developers of what it calls the, “world’s first predictive platform which is specifically targeted towards OEMs, MROs and distributors,” Beep Analytics was established in 2016 and provides what it says is an intuitive market mapping and sales prediction platform based on the latest advances in machine learning technology. “We really like the MRO Europe shows, and being a small specialized provider of aviation predictive analytics solutions, the Showcase Pavilion is a superb solution which allows us to exhibit and meet new customers in an efficient way,” Beeps Analytics chief executive officer, Jens Peder Pedersen, said. n 39

EATON INNOVATING
Eaton makes its presence known at MRO Europe
3D scan cuts inspection by 50% Automated technology can slash turnaround times
E
aton’s new automated 3D scanning inspection technology will revolutionize duct and tube restoration. The inspection technology provides maintenance, repair and overhaul customers with the tools to optimize aircraft duct and tube performance. Traditional inspection techniques are labour intensive, and this new technology will help boost operational efficiencies and reduce repair turnaround time and costs. Using Eaton’s automated inspection technology, customers can inspect ducts and tubes with commercially available coordinate measuring machine scanning equipment using Eaton’s proprietary software. Using a hand-held 3D scanner takes minutes to scan parts compared with the hours a visual inspection and manual measurement can take. Inspecting defects with traditional visual methods have difficulties because damage can be complicated to measure due to the irregular geometry and lead to inaccurate measurement. Paper based documentation is also inefficient and 42
EatonAdvertorial.indd 1
therefore the quoting process then lacks transparency. Eaton’s non-destructive testing using automated 3D scanning inspection technology reduces inspection time by 50% and turnaround time by 80%, reducing it from up to 56 days to 5-10 days; while improving inspection accuracy. The technology gives more control over inspection process and allows for rapid feedback for repair quotes and turnaround time schedules. Eaton can inspect and restore damaged parts regardless of manufacturer. Eaton’s proprietary software can quickly characterize defects to determine if they’re

repairable and will annotate scan results using a machine learning algorithm. The user can produce a report with the push of a single button and then add supporting data which can all be uploaded to Eaton’s secure Cloud. After reviewing the data, Eaton will provide a quote and lead time so users can view the price of the repairs before shipment. Customers can know the scope and price of restoration long before parts leave their facility. n
“ With a focus on driving business growth, Eaton has announced an agreement with OEMServices to represent us in Russia. Since 2011, we’ve worked successfully with OEMServices to expand our component sales and aftermarket services to customers worldwide. By expanding our strategic alliance with OEMServices in Russia, we can provide the high-quality, cost-effective MRO services our customers need in yet another region of the world ” Eaton aftermarket business vice president, Mark Schmidt

SPAIRLINERS INTEGRATED CARE
The Spairliners team
Continuous growth in sight
n Hamburg-based Spairliners was founded in 2005. It is a 50/50 joint venture between Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance and Lufthansa Technik. The company offers component services for the Airbus A380 and the Embraer E-Jet Family, comprising of the E170/175 and E190/195 series. Its services include component access, home base stock lease, stand-alone repair, and asset optimization. As a market leader in Integrated Component Care, Spairliners is a trusted and proven supplier to airlines such as, Qantas, Malaysia Airlines, KLM Cityhopper, Air France HOP and Lufthansa CityLine. The company operates logistic hubs in Paris, Frankfurt, Singapore, Miami and Munich.
Almost 15 years of milestones
A
dynamic and flexible company that took on component care services for the world’s largest commercial aircraft – the Airbus A380 – with a team of only a handful people, has steadily grown into a business that delivers customized and top-level support to its customers all over the world. Spairliners has carved out a niche for itself by focusing on operating large component pools and supporting less common aircraft fleets in a very cost-effective manner via its extensive in-house repair capabilities and smart logistic processes. With the company’s 15th anniversary approaching in 2020, it can look back at several milestones such as its expansion into the American market, the development of its own probabilistic forecasting technology for asset optimization and the launch of its own 24/7 AOG desk just in the last few years. The continuous growth is reflected in terms of revenue, staff, number of customers and supported aircraft. New pool locations in Miami and Singapore
ensure that the company has assets available in strategic locations close to their customers around the world. Spairliners is now the number one OEM independent Component Support provider in Europe for the Embraer E-Jet family and the number one for the Airbus A380 world-wide. The discontinuation of production of A380 aircraft has made headlines, but in fact it will only have a limited and staged effect on the company. The existing aircraft will still require component support for the next decade and Spairliners sees a lot of potential for winning new customers for this aircraft type. In order to best positioning itself in an ever more challenging market, Spairliners management is always looking for ways to further improve its costs and market position, such as considering potential collaborations with other players in this niche market, or analyzing possibilities to eventually broaden its product offering by including another aircraft type. n

“ I think Spairliners has a team designed for success. We are currently well positioned in the market. We are the number one independent component support provider for the A380 in the world as well as number one in Europe for E-Jets. So, we have a very solid position, a lot of expertise and we know the market very well. We want to continue our growth in the E-Jet market and are still ambitious in the A380 market as well” Spairliners managing director Benoit Rollier
