The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts serves as the cultural custodian of Talladega College. The Division houses the English, Fine Arts, Associate of Arts, Mass Media Studies, Music, and History Departments. It is this Division’s mission to prepare students to be competitive in both graduate and professional schools and in the work world. It further has as its mission to make students sensitive to the world as their community and to, therefore, have as their own individual goals and objectives some contribution for the improvement of society. Finally, all faculty members in the division are aware of our multi-ethnic/multi-faceted society, and are dedicated to developing students who understand and appreciate their cultural diversity, and who have the commitment and intellectual capacity to serve their fellow human beings.

English The English Department offers general education courses in English and speech, as well as literature courses open to all students at or above the sophomore level. The development of effective writing skills is emphasized in all English and literature courses. The English area offers the English major with the traditional literature concentration as well as courses in Spanish.

Fine Arts The Fine Arts program provides enrichment and cultural opportunities for students who wish to ex-pand and broaden their education through experiences in painting, ceramics, and the plastic and graphic arts. This program also contributes to the general education work in the humanities.
