GROW LOCAL MADE LOCAL EAT LOCAL

135+ Growers & Producers plus many more

Grow Local: We support the very best products grown here in Alberta and BC. The diversity of our agriculture and aquaculture gives us the ability to offer our customers great products while in season. To us, local means nourishing individuals with food that travels the shortest distance from ground to table. Local nourishes the community as well as the local economy. Local is food and food products that are grown, raised, caught, harvested, processed and produced in Alberta.

The products we promote as local are guided by the following principles: We only purchase and distribute food and food products that meet our high standards for food safety. Whenever possible we purchase as close to our facilities to minimize our impact on the environment. We support Local organization's efforts to promote local dining campaigns to create awareness and encourage communities to dine out. Sustainability We have been on a path towards continually reducing our carbon footprint. Our company and its Associates undertake various activities to support our sustainability initiatives and to improve business practices to reduce our impact on the environment. We demonstrate this through diversion and recycling programs. Annually, we recycle:

• 175,000 lbs. cardboard • 61,0000 lbs. plastic Diversion is the backbone of our commitment to the reduction of our carbon footprint. We have also made significant investments in several key areas of our warehouse and fleet that reduce our consumption of energy and fossil fuels.

• LED lighting • Motion sensing lighting • Green routing • Low flow faucets • Reducing fleet idle times Highspeed doors • Inbound logistics and consolidation • Cross-docking with our sister companies

Our Delivery Fleet Fleet Technology We are constantly striving to improve our customer service and efficiencies while delivering great food and food products safely. We have made significant investments in several aspects of our delivery fleet including: Sysco Delivery App We are very excited to remind our customers of our Delivery App. The Sysco Delivery App will provide you, our customer, with real-time delivery information to help better manage your business. Verizon Connect A real-time GPS system that tracks our equipment and delivery routes. We use this tool to support routes running behind by sending support to get help the Delivery Associate get back on schedule. STS (Sysco Transportation System) Hand-held scanning technology that our Delivery Associates use to ensure your complete order arrives. Each box is scanned and electronically checked off your invoice. Green Routing Green routing is the process by which we balance the needs of our customers while minimizing the kilometres driven, idle time and hours driving. The multi-department team meets to create, review and manage standard routes. Standard routes have a set sequence for customers and deliveries. The team also reviews feedback from customers and Delivery Associates to make improvements to the process.

Shuttle Yards At Sysco, we implemented the use of shuttle yards. Instead of our Delivery Associates driving to our distribution center to start their day, they drive to a location close to home and start their route close to the customers on it. Shuttle yards have enabled us to improve the work-life balance for our drivers by reducing their commuting time. This in turn reduces miles driven, idle time and fuel consumption of our fleet. We are proud of this innovative solution to minimizes our impact on the environment.

that incorporates local suppliers leads to more consumer choices and fosters innovation. By putting local suppliers on our trucks, environmental impact is reduced, contributing to less sprawl, congestion, habitat loss, and pollution. We promote spending, eating, and visiting locally, which further contributes to our local economy. All this plays a big role in our customers' welfare and overall satisfaction. “I believe that the unique character of our community is defined in large part by the businesses that reside here, and I am proud to work for a company that invests in our community’s welfare and future.”

Capital Fine Meats (then Capital Packers) began in 1929 as a small, family-run abattoir in Edmonton, Alberta, on the very land the facility sits on today. Its creation and intended purpose was to provide local, fresh, high-quality meats to their family-run grocery store: Western Groceries & Meat Market. Throughout the years, Capital Packers underwent multiple expansions and eventually outgrew its grocery store counterpart by providing the same quality and care to all that it produced. Although the store closed in the early ’80s, Capital Fine Meats continues to supply quality meat products throughout Western Canada. The company remains family-owned and operated to this day, combining the expertise of its 3rd and 4th generations of family. Capital Fine Meats is federally inspected, SQF certified, HACCP recognized, and proudly employs over 100 skilled workers that share its values of integrity, quality, fairness, and pride in all that they do. Today, they specialize in gluten-free, naturally smoked meat products like sausages, deli meats, pizza toppings, whole muscle, cured, and specialty cuts. They also make certified halal products, pickled meats, and raw products, both fresh and frozen. Our goal is to prepare special foods that bring families together and remind them of home, wherever that may be in the world. We are a family-owned business that has been running for over two decades, so you can believe us when we say that we understand the value of coming together to eat as a family. As we inevitably get older, we realise the significance of family recipes and special occasion dishes that we look forward to cooking months before the date. The Troika mission is to provide lovingly prepared, traditionally inspired cabbage rolls that take only a lot of preparation time of hands-off cooking and never fail to come out perfectly. We also own and operate PASTA TIME which manufactures tasty filled pastas, and flavourful gourmet sauces, and custom sauces and dressings. The way we see it, less time spent in the kitchen means more time spent bonding with your family. Leave the preparation to us, kick back and relax in the company of your loved ones.

Food Safety What’s the one product delivered on every Sysco truck?

Peace of mind. We have earned the trust of thousands of operators by caring as much about their reputations as we do about ours. This starts well before any product arrives in our building. We insist that each and every supplier partner produces a Certificate of Insurance and complies with Sysco’s Hold Harmless Agreement. The HHA is our guarantee that every product we deliver is backed by the company and people making it.

Food Safety Program Manager Every Sysco company now has a full time Food Safety Program Manager. This person’s role is to ensure that we are compliant with every aspect of our food safety policies. They are also responsible for ensuring that we maintain our track record of excellent scores in both internal and external audits. Sysco Vancouver recently completed a BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standard for Storage and Distribution audit performed by Mérieux NutriSciences and scored an excellent AA rating. The BRC standard is recognized worldwide for Food Safety Standards.

Instant Recall & Belltower In case something goes wrong, we are ready. Sysco has deployed the Instant Recall and Belltower solutions for automated food recall and withdrawal notification system. These two systems enable us to reach affected customers simultaneously, communicate critical information and remove products from the supply chain.
