It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 32nd annual Everblack Angus Bull and Female sale. By now I feel we are all used to the ups and downs that the agriculture industry presents us. With the beef cow herd at it lowest levels seen in decades, it seems it might be the Ranchers turn to go on a “Bull Run” as Wall Street would call it.

We are extremely proud of our offering this year. We feel there are bulls at all levels to service your needs, whether that be breeding cows or heifers. We source the best herd sires we can find, and walk these bulls in two breeding seasons. The large sire groups present a clearer picture of what the end product will look like as you are able to evaluate many 1/2 and 3/4 brothers. There are a couple new sire groups this year for our long-time repeat customers.

We calve 1/4 of our cows mid Jan-Mar so that we can select a handful of yearling bulls for our sale, this also enables us to market some replacement females into early calving operations. The majority of the herd calves May-June, back in the hills with very little supervision. With two calving seasons, our cows are calved in the same manner as 99% of our customers, this gives a good indication of what works and what doesn’t. We can then select for these desirable traits when producing bulls. The early calves are weaned the end of September, with the young calves staying on the cow until late November. Weaning weights are actual, not adjusted. No yearling bulls are sold privately, this gives us a good selection of two year old bulls that aren’t picked over. Our focus truly is the two yr old bulls; they are mature, can cover more cows and there is almost no guesswork in visualizing what the end product will look like.

Our bulls to use on heifers are the result of mating calving ease bulls to low birth weight, smaller framed cows. This gives us calving ease consistency on both sides of the pedigree, as well as bulls that will mature at a smaller frame size so they can breed heifers for many years. The cow bulls are stout, rugged bulls with some added performance. All are sound, semen tested, and 100% guaranteed.

We take the most pride in our customer service, our youngest shareholder is 8 yrs old, so what I’m saying is we plan to be around for along time. If you have an issue don’t hesitate to let us know and we will remedy it for you in a timely manner. We have an 85% repeat buyer rate and feel that speaks in itself. Welcome to the Everblack Angus Bull and Female Sale, on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the ranch, Vermilion, Alberta. This is their 32nd bull sale, and after over half a century of breeding, we have grown to expect their high-quality bulls year after year.

The focus at Everblack is two-year-olds bred and designed for cowboys and commercial cattlemen. Only at Everblack can one select from many sire groups and acquire half and three-quarter brothers to ensure uniformity in your calves at weaning. This event is one of if not the largest two-year-old group of virgin bulls…. bulls that can cover lots of cows on all types of terrain. Through the past fifty years or more, Ernie has selected many herd bulls, and his selection criteria was strongly built on calving ease with performance… hence the reason for all the bulls selling with a calving ease recommendation.

An outstanding lineup of bulls will greet you at Everblack… rugged, sound, lots of muscle, testicle, and hair… the best and most powerful lineup to date. The yearling bulls come out of January calvers and need your scrutiny... several herd bull prospects can be found in that pen. The big weaning weights, the many calving ease bulls and the genetic diversity are only some of the reasons you need to select bulls and females from this progressive operation.

For those looking for females that are foundation material, Everblack presents fifteen heifers annually, selected from the heart of the replacement group. These females will be high valued assets in the years ahead…remember they are sisters to the bulls!

Charles has been with us 11 short years. He knows the operation inside and out, excels in operating equipment, and is handy around the shop. Chucky is the combine boss in the fall and jack of all trades the rest of the year. He is also a member of the Islay fire department.

Steve “the cow whisperer” Riley has been with us going on 4 years this fall. He does an exceptional job of the day to day feeding and herd health around the ranch. Steve has a great love of animals and seems like he never has a bad day.

Johnny Kehler

Johnny joined us late last fall and has been a welcome addition. He’s always willing to help out where needed and has spent most of his time in the shop maintaining the fleet of equipment. Johnny plans to work on his pigeon noises this summer so he can excel in the picture pen next year.

An exciting calf here, standing out since he was 3 weeks old he has stood out for his ease of fleshing and wide base. Built very correct, 4L won’t get huge but is really hard to find a fault in. Out of our Rose 9328 donor, she is doing an exceptional job at a young age. The 2 previous yrs she has had the top selling yearling bull. Most notably last yr was a good Coleman triumph calf to Pederson Livestock/Clarke Ranching for $15,000. Extra long with good performance. The result of an embryo purchse. The Abigale 7185 is a tremendous looking daughter of the great breeding Resource bull. Stamina has cemented himself as an exceptional breeding bull. Not often is a sire able to have both sons and daughters that are extremely valuable, he has done that. With 205 calves on the ground to date, we are confident in has ability to sire cattle that are sound, good footed, easy fleshing, but have enough performance. We purchased Acclaim in the spring of 2020, we all remember the buzz around the Bravo sire group that spring. He has not disappointed, there are still highend bulls sired by Bravo selling this spring, his popularity seems to be picking up steam. Our Bravo son, 144G has become a real swiss army knife at our place. Very handy, he can be used on large cows to moderate birth weight, all while still keeping enough performance and an abundance of stoutness. He can be used on virgin heifers for trouble free calving while still having that stoutness that will add pounds at weaning time. Upgrade was a bull we kept for ourselves, he was the result of an embryo purchase a few years back. We purchased Blaster as a calving ease option from the highly regarded Switzer family in southwest Saskatchewan. He is a big bodied, sound made bull. His calves came easy, we bred him to virgin heifers with no assistance during calving. The calves started small but grow well. Blaster boasts a nice calving ease EPD spread of -1.0 bw to 98 yw.

Terms & Conditions

Terms:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Pedigree Estimates:

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Guarantee:

Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Liabilities:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The sellers, facility owner, auctioneer and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either part to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Insurance:

Agents will be in attendance to insure your purchases. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors:

All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.

Bull Warranty:

We guarantee to provide you with a sound, fertile bull capable of servicing a reasonable number of cows. In the event that your bull is a non-satisfactory breeder, the seller will not, under any circumstances, be responsible for more than the original selling price of any bull or female sold in the sale. The consignors will not provide replacement or credit for physical injury or mismanagement. Therefore we stress the importance of insurance on your bull. An insurance agent will be available on sale day.
