Welcome to the 21st Annual BullRush Simmental Bull sale. 2002 marked the inaugural edition of this sale. At that time, a group of farms with a common interest banned together to initiate a bull sale with quality animals that they were proud to present to the public. 21 years later, the bulls have more depth than ever and have evolved to suit the needs of today’s modern cowherds and producers developing expectations. In this years offering from the progressive BullRush group, you will find a variety of bulls that will suit many different operations. Horned, polled, fullblood, red and black are all situated throughout this catalog for you to review. One thing that is common when you are assessing the different animals is the quality that exists here. You will travel far and wide to find a group of bulls that will compare to the array that will be displayed here in Rimbey on the 23rd. The bulls will be penned for viewing on Feb 22nd and if you wish to view them prior to that, be sure to contact the consignor and see them on farm. If you cannot make it to the sale and are interested in an animal, be sure to contact one of the trusted sales staff or consignors and they will facilitate your interests. You also have the option to utilize online bidding through DLMS.

Weaning weights taken August 24th and Yearling Weights were done Dec 31st. As always our bulls have been slowly developed on the Country Junction Right Way beef ration pellet and fed free choice haylage. All the bulls have all been tested for Dilutor gene (if bred to black cows non dilutor will have no greys) , homozygous polled (homozygous polled bulls will have no horned calves) and coat colour where applicable. This year Ramsay gets the honors of leading our string of bulls and for good reason. Maybe the deepest bodied fullblood we have ever raised. Ramsay has had the look from an early age and just keeps getting better. Pictured here at the end of November you can see why he has us excited. His sire Shazam is a bull that did a great drop for Anchor D in his first calf crop. After seeing his set of sons in the bull pen we knew we had to get a semen package on him. Too further indorse Ramsay, he comes from a cow family that is no stranger to putting feature sons through the sale. I few years ago Ramsays grandam hit it out of the park raising our lead off and high selling bull to Willcooke Simmentals at Caroline. She has been a great little cow for us but has suffered some extremely bad luck losing three different top end bulls which was no fault of her own. Her last bull to sell was a feature in our group selling to John and Bobbi Sever who always find the good ones. A big framed ET bull here that goes back to some older Simmental genetics from Smith Simmentals. Tywin is a smooth made Molson son raised by a first calving recip. Maybe a little bit too much power for a first calver but she did a very good job weaning him off at 858 pounds. Tywin is a little later maturing which is common for Molson progeny and he is finally coming into his own. Big feet, good bone work, added frame, Tywin is a bull that would excel in a British based herd to give you a little more jam and maternal as I feel his females will be exceptional. A couple years ago we sold a couple flushmates in the sale and they were two of our high selling bulls going to Dead Horse Creek and John and Bobbi Sever. We were hoping to get some heifers from this mating but that didn’t work so we purchased another set of embryos from Gagnons. Once again, we didn’t get our heifer. Our loss and your gain, Lannister is as complete as any bull in the pen and will sire those sought-after buckskin steer that are in high demand. She was a perfect 8 for 8 on her calving record putting heifers at the very top of the pen and features in the bull sale. She was slated for the donor pen this spring but unfortunately, she stifled herself this summer and we lost her this winter. Mormont did it on his own from mid-July reflecting his weaning weight but caught right back up with the pack on feed. Old Deb does it again, Oberyn will mark her 5th consecutive calf walking through the sale ring. Shes a bigger framed cow that packs some punch and really works well with these calving ease bulls. Prime Beef is an AI sire we have been using more and more. He sires small birth weights, dark coats and they perform really well. In all honesty I’m always surprised when Oberyn steps on the scale, he looks like he might give up a few pounds to some of the bigger bulls but holds his own very well. With a short gestation of 274 days, Drogo was born at 76 pounds and took right off weaning at 892 at the end of August and continued on to be the second heaviest bull at yearling weights. On the bottom side of the pedigree there is multiple generations of short gestation cattle a trait that is highly heritable, as well Captain Blaze another short gestation bull that we have used very successfully on heifers. His calves come very easily with a ton of hair and as you can see with Drogo they really grow. Due to our small angus numbers it’s not very often we sell a black angus bull. In fact, Baratheon will be the first angus bull we have offered with a straight black pedigree! We purchased these embryos last spring from Bova Tech in attempt to get a female from the great Sky High herd sire. We have heard nothing but good in regards to Sky High females, combine that with his mom 530’15 coming from the legendary Tilda cow family we were hoping for a cornerstone female. RT 60 K (2022 Version ) has a bit more frame than some of his pen mates. His dam is a direct daughter of our RT 104 Y herd bull we ran for several years. He was a homo polled sire that produced some real decent offspring. Out of yet another good producing RT 104 Y daughter and the Commander bull that we purchased from Westgold Farms. KHG Nancy 625D is the dam to the Commander bull, and she is the epitome of a feminine bovine. A beautiful tidy udder with well placed teats and structurally built to last. When we visually saw her up close and personally, we knew we had to try and get a son from her to add to the depth of our own breeding program. Her track record in the birth weight department is super good, with lower birth weights that get out and grow. More calving ease than his numbers may suggest, this bulls maternal dam and grand dam had very light birth weights (low 60 lb range) and yet have produced quite respectable growth into their offspring. RT 142 K has a fairly dark red hair coat and is tested homo polled. He has a nipped tip on his one ear as his dam was mothering him on one cold and breezy morning! That will not deter him in any way from doing his job and when you see him in person you will come to appreciate his stature and all that he will send down the genetic chain to benefit the next generation. A later born February calf, RT 153 K has shown a very nice scrotal growth rate for a bit younger calf. In his performance numbers he is no slouch either, keeping up with and surpassing some of the others he is being measured against. His dam is a beautiful young Otis cow with a picture perfect udder and a great disposition. Tipping the scales as one of the heaviest weaned bull calves MVRN Pol Roosevelt 200 K has our Red King 163 A bull as his maternal grand dams sire. So many of the 163 A daughters are excelling in production traits and their offspring are developing into and making their way to the cream of the crop club. TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable in Canadian Funds at par immediately following the sale. The right of ownership shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made before any livestock will be released.

DELIVERY: Bulls will be wintered free of cost until April 1, 2023 providing the bulls going back to their farm are insured for all risks from the date of sale until purchaser obtains possession. After such date there will be a $7.00 per head per day charge per bull. Assistance with delivery arrangements will be made available at cost.

2023 will mark the 14th calf out of the 15 year old RT 91 U cow, the dam of RT 256 K. She is currently in above average condition as she grazes through the snow on a swath grazing field. These hardy types are the ones we need more of. There is a lot of longevity bred into this young bull. He has a true mask on his head with the googled eyed markings and a pigmented lip. If you wish to add some coloring into a group of red cows calves, he will do that for you. He is a medium to larger boned animal so he will have good gaining male calves and with his back ground of high producing females in the pedigree, you can expect some dandy replacement heifers as well.

If you research pedigrees and like some of the old fleckvieh bloodlines, look back at the pedigree here and you will find Anchor T Paragon 1X on the dams side. He has a decent calving ease number with a balanced set of traits that hold true even 17 years after his birth. The cows in the RT 276 K pedigree all have great feet and hoof structure with the polled gene being incorporated many years back. Combine all the history on the dams side with the breeding to Roosevelt, and you have the best of the old and new to move you forward into this upcoming and profitable cycle the beef industry is about to embark on.

FLECKVIEH STATUS: All bulls that are at least 5 generations Fleckvieh are considered Full Fleckvieh. Fleckvieh percentages are determined by each individual consignor to the best of their knowledge. It is recommended if further research is required, to check with the Simmental Association.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: After settlement has been made the buyer will be provided with the proper registration papers, duly transferred on the record of the Canadian Simmental Association. Further transfer to the herd books of other countries shall be at the buyers expense.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE: Standard terms set forth by the Canadian Simmental Association, with the exception where any animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers and public, neither the consignors, auctioneer, sales staff of facility assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
