As I begin to write this forward I take note of the date, 9/11 and think of that day I will never forget. A day that changed the world. I know what I was doing, do you? Food for thought...I woke up this morning realizing the date and became completely disgusted that boy wonder, JT, would call the election on this date. What a lack of respect...nothing but a drama queen. Unreal. I can’t wait for the conversations over the next 40 days during the run of sales leading up to the election. The consignors here with C&T…McCoy, KLR, Twin View and Phantom Creek have brought a strong set of bred heifers along with a group of fancy heifer calves. There are 40 plus bred females and 10 calves, sired by or carrying the service of some of the best genetics available.
Juniors make sure to take advantage of the 10% discount that all contributors are offering on any heifer calf. These females were selected for and are capable of wearing a show halter for Junior Bonanza 2020 in Brandon, MB. Talk to the consignors and let them help you ready your Saskatchewan Hereford Association: purchase for next year.
Lyal Heidecker, President Matthew Lohner, Vice President
Manitoba Hereford Association: Steven Manns, President Jay Rimke, Vice President Vivian Jones, Secretary
So as many of you know, C&T take a few hours every week to follow the Roughriders. Currently sitting in second place is fine with me considering we have been using our backup quarterback since the third play of the 2019 season. Mike Reilly has proven he’s not the saviour in BC and Calgary has certainly fallen off their pedestal. Sorry Bryan and Cole. Then there is the perpetually hot and cold Blue Bombers. Don’t laugh CFL fans....I predict a Saskatchewan Riders and Montreal Als Grey Cup this November. Riders win by 6...you heard it here first. Some things to put on your to-do list this fall. The Sweep “Steaks” Long Weekend in SE Saskatchewan is five sales in four days in mid-October and Agribition is always ‘the’ event in late November. Looking ahead to 2020 we will see three very big events in Saskatchewan...the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100th Anniversary, the Grey Cup will be held in the new Mosaic Stadium (Riders will be there) and Canadian Western Agribition will celebrate its 50th show! This is a not to miss event as CWA has confirmed all breeds will host their National Shows at that time. It will definitely be the best of the best under one roof during one week...can you imagine the excitement on Supreme Show day. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements from CWA over the next 14 months. If you have any questions about the cattle or the Junior discount be sure to talk to the sales staff or any of the consignors.
Junior Buyer’s Incentive
10% discount to any Junior member purchasing a heifer calf in the sale.
As always GO GREEN GO!! and see you on sale day. Chris

From the desk at T Bar...
From the desk at T Bar… As “Take the Next Step” Annual Production Sale enters its sixteenth season, we would like to invite all Hereford breeders and livestock enthusiasts young and old to be a part of this event. For the past decade and a half, Chris and Tina have hosted this event and with their guests, supplied the livestock industry with value-added seedstock. The 2019 lineup is packed full of opportunities. C & T and their guests run ranch raised operations;therefore, their product will adapt in any region or operation. The diversity of the offering makes this sale unique… diverse in phenotype and complete with the newest up-to-date genetics which will move breeding plans forward. The bred heifers are front pasture quality while the 2019 prospects have been hand-picked to make the show barn. Juniors, with Bonanza hosted in Brandon, you will have the opportunity to select a show heifer that will go on and make a top brood cow… an investment in your future. Congratulations to Chris for taking over the chair at Agribition. Few understand the effort and dedication it takes… let alone the hours of driving… with the Riders and Agribition, a house in Regina would be in order. No doubt, the President will be nervous sale day as our neighbors play each other in a key match, but I know he will have a prediction for the season! Plan to be with us and “Take the Next Step” at 5:00 P.M. for this great leg of the “Saskatchewan Sweep Steaks”, come early and be guests for lunch and refreshments. This event is truly worth the trip... a proven source for fifteen years. Do not hesitate to stop by any of the ranches and view the offering or give them a call to discuss their offering. If we at T Bar C may be of assistance, prior to or sale day, please contact any of the T Bar team and we will be pleased to offer our professional services.

We are offering three well-made heifer calves. All are more than capable of showing for a junior. All heifer calves from the sale contributors are eligible for a 10% discount if sold to a Junior Member. Bonanza 2020 is in Brandon, Manitoba. Show Heifer Prospects
An attractive, dark colored, Double D heifer. She is wide topped, big hipped and deep ribbed. She will be a powerful brood cow. Jan is as quiet as they come and would be an excellent first purchase for a Junior member. Her mother was purchased from Randy and Karen Wagner as a calf and has not disappointed. She too, is as calm as can be and very easy keeping. She comes from the Janice cow family that runs a few generations deep at KLR.

This is the first group of Big Bang bred heifers to sell. He is an Action out of a beautiful uddered Heat daughter that Dawson showed at Bonanza in Lindsay, Ontario and went on to CWA Junior Beef Extreme as a bred and returned with a Big Bang at her side. His offspring are very moderate in size with depth and shape. Sharona is short marked, stout, well balanced, big boned and red everywhere. Her dam is an easy keeping Wyatt who is moving quickly up the ranks here. Her grand dam is the old RSK 12S cow who has sent plenty of daughters into other herds. She is still here in production. Maternal sister sold to Kris Gordon, Arcola, SK last year. Pasture exposed to C&T 7B Double D 11D from May 8 to July 25, 2019. Projected calving date of early to mid March.

McCoy Cattle Co. Time goes by very quickly it would appear. 2019 marks the 11th year we have consigned females to the C&T Next Step Sale. Thanks to Chris and Tina for giving us this opportunity. This year we are pleased to showcase four heifer calves from the top of our program. We are eager to work with any Juniors that want to exhibit these heifers in Brandon next summer. We are offering to pay for DNA again this year for calves born from our heifers due to overlap in pasture exposures.

It is only with our commitment to offer heifer calves from the top that this female is made available this fall. Her pedigree is deep with the cattle that have built our program over the past 10 to 15 years. She is short marked, goggle eyed and checks every box that I can think to look at when we are breeding cattle. Her Absolute dam is quickly making a case to enter our ET program. Her granddam has been flushed successfully already. Bid with confidence on her on October 19.

A fancy made Bolt daughter with a very desirable set of EPDs. Take a look at her two year old dam for an idea of how nice we think this calf will be in the future. Chloe showed this heifer at the Young Ranchman’s Show in September, so she is kid broke and would make an excellent junior or 4-H project.

A moderate framed, heavy milking daughter of Bentley 2181B with an ideal udder. We don’t have many Bentley daughters in production, but the ones that are here are getting it done. Ask Tina about her Bentley daughter purchased as a heifer calf in the 2017 sale. Her service to Frontier is exciting! AI bred to TH Frontier 174E on June 1, 2019. Confirmed safe in calf.

The youngest and destined to become one of the bigger ones. Really big ribbed like her mother. The Zircons may have the best udder quality of all our sires used to date. I’m pretty optimistic about the future for this heifer. AI bred to Boyd 31Z Blueprint 6153 on May 11, 2019. Pasture exposed to PCL A191 Evolution ET 6E from June 6 to July 17, 2019. Pregnant to the May 11 AI service.
