Welcome to the 2025 M&J Farms/Glasman Farms Bull Sale. It is an honour and absolute pleasure to present to you this year’s bull offering.
The enthusiasm and excitement in the cattle industry is at an all time high. Today’s unprecedented markets have finally rewarded years, sometimes generations of blood, sweat and tears. Now, we believe more than ever, the investment and procurement of consistent production oriented genetics flat out pay dividends.
The bulls in our sale offering are the no-nonsense type. These powerfully constructed individuals have the age benefit of being coming two year olds. Being grown and brought along at a slow pace benefits both the bull and the customer. After developing bulls for generations, we have found that doing it right takes time and that improved longevity and functionality are the clear benefits.

Welcome to the 2025 Edition of M&J Farms Simmental/Angus Two-Year-Old Bull Sale on February 19th at the farm a mile or so south of Russell, Manitoba.
In today’s exciting and everchanging market it is difficult to acquire high quality two-year-old virgin bulls that are not picked over but were slated for this event. The Glasman Family have been producing and supplying high quality bulls for generations and have earned the label of leading breeders in the livestock industry.
The quality and uniformity run deep in this powerful offering of two-year-olds, and both the Simmental and Angus are very similar in type and kind. The bulls are born in pasture from April through June, and summer pastured for growth, and soundness and then brought in to prepare for the sale. Much of the credit for this powerful set of bulls must go to their large and predictable cow herd.
These bulls will cover more cows, bigger cows and are suitable for all types of terrain. Rugged, full of performance with optimal frame size and reasonable birth weight, you will appreciate the muscle shape and hair. Strong in maternal values, you will want to keep all the daughters.

We are happy to host our American friends and have many repeat customers from across the border. All bulls are guaranteed exportable to the USA and we will attend to and assist with all necessary health testing, vet examinations, paperwork and permits to export your bull(s) across the USA border. A $250 US charge per bull will be applied at the time of settlement. Any questions, please ask.

Option B: Bulls will be delivered free of charge to all points in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. We will assist with arrangements to other destinations. Delivery will begin as soon as possible after the sale at the sellers’ convenience. Bulls are welcome to stay on our ranch if prior arrangements have been made. Any bulls staying at M&J/Glasman Farms MUST be insured. We ask that all bulls are picked up or delivered by April 30th.

She has sons in Missouri, Montana and across provinces in Canada. The Just Cause backed cow, coupled with the exciting Black Advantage herdsire co-owned with Niko Grose of Rocky Meadow Ranch, produced another great herd bull. In every welcome we have been lucky enough to write we have talked optimistically about the future of the cattle business and the way the cattle cycle, the markets and the cowherd numbers were lining up for great times ahead. We are seeing unprecedented prices at the auction marts, and although inflation is affecting cost of production and cost of living and I haven’t met a cattle producer yet who isn’t cautiously optimistic about the times, I think maybe Grandpa Marshall was right when he told me “these ARE the good old days”.
2024 was a busy and exciting year! We added Bodie to the family in August so life has not got any less busy. Many of our cattle jobs are done with four little ones in tow. We want our cattle to be low maintenance and work for us and that’s the way we breed and raise them.
In our own program we’re striving for realistic, profitable traits. We have never been ones to chase extremes for calving ease that breeds the pelvis size and performance out of them. Or on the other side of the pendulum, to chase performance and with the sacrifice of calving ease, efficiency, and maternal traits.
We have been selecting genetics with short gestation that calve with ease and most importantly have vigor to live and ideally with the curve bending ability to grow. Our main focus is on the female as she is what will pull us through the good and the tough times. Major selection pressure for strong maternal traits: fertility, structural soundness (ability to travel), feet, udder quality, temperament, feed efficient easy fleshing (doability) and on top of that the ability to raise a quality calf each year. These bulls are the result of that.

The $56,000 feature in Peak Dot’s spring 2020 bull sale, Lancaster is a rugged built stock bull with true muscle definition, extra rib shape and real performance. His progeny display a nice pattern with body depth, fleshing ability and real muscle shape. His dam is a very well made SAV Eliminator 9105 daughter that ranks near the top for milk and marbling and has raised many herd sires and we feel that his daughters will be his real asset. HERD BULL ALERT! This stud has been an absolute standout since birth. I just love his dam, MLG Blackbird 38D, and her production record. Here’s a bull that caught Chris Poley’s eye when he was down in January. He checks a lot of boxes and does a lot of things right! This guy was pictured at the end of picture day (as you can tell by the shadows) so we didn’t get the picture we wanted of him, but don’t hold it against him. This is a case where I can say “his picture does not do him justice” as he’s another great Lancaster with unparalleled rib and muscle shape. In layman’s terms, these bulls have guts, butts and nuts. He will be sure to add pounds and base width to his offspring. As for maternal, his dam by the very popular Banknote is one of our favorite cows; always producing a great one! She has a Density heifer calf this year.

In the fall of 2022 I attended the great Spring Creek Simmental and Angus dispersal of Brian McCarthy and family. With the help of Brian’s “cheat sheet” we were lucky enough to acquire three proven top end productive females from the herd. They were all bred to Mindbender and you will find three brothers catalogued this year to choose from. The dam of this bull is a maternal sister to the lead off Angus in the dispersal who was sired by MLG Pioneer 40B! (full sib to MLG Blackbird 10Z).
This Mindbender son is a full sibling to my pick of the calves at McCarthy’s Spring Creek Simmental and Angus dispersal and my second favorite calf was out of his grandam, Queen Ruth 15A. His dam also raised a full brother that was a sale feature in a previous year proving her consistency and ability to raise the top end son when you look at this bull here today. Appreciate him for his length and athletic ability.
The only Spring Creek Mindbender son in the sale, the youngest Angus, and he is wide based and big scrotalled with excellent disposition. His dam is a beautiful Lancaster daughter who is easy fleshing, thick and very feminine. We bought embryos the very first year Hamiltons and 6 Mile had bought Showman not knowing how much excitement would follow. The following winter semen brought $1,800 a straw. We used the son on our own herd and he has worked extremely well. Calves came easy and grew fast. His full brothers at Hamilton’s and Rio Grande averaged over $25,000. We look forward to seeing how the females turn out as they calve this spring. Chris Poley thinks they should be great from what he has seen at Hamilton’s. This is our longest and stoutest red Simmental Bull…and the only Simmental bull in our offering. All jokes aside, he is a good one. His sire, Oakview Huntly, is an SVS Betts son that has four proven donors in his initial upfront pedigree. He stems back to the great KOP Bengie 6P that has raised many proven herd sires such as Sunville Driller, KOP Crosby 137W, and many more. Here is a three-quarter Simmental Huntly son out of a beautiful, moderate, easy fleshing Earnhardt daughter with a great udder. We all wish we had a whole commercial herd that looked like her. The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Delivery
Every assistance will be given to get your purchases home. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Breeder’s Guarantee
All bulls will be semen tested prior to the sale. The bulls sold are sold with a breeder’s guarantee. If problems arise please notify M&J Farms/Glasman Farms immediately so the replacement or credit towards another bull can be dealt with in a timely fashion, At no time will M&J Farms/Glasman Farms be responsible for more than the purchase price.
Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.
In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
