JP RMR/ Crew THE
It’s that time of year again, bull sale season is upon us. Doesn’t seem like that long ago we were just getting last year’s sale completed. Time goes by so fast, the calving season, breeding season, seeding, putting cows to pasture, haying, harvesting, weaning, corn harvest, preg checking, clipping, pictures, semen testing and here we are again. Busy times.
From all of us at JP cattle, I’d like to welcome you to this year’s annual bull sale, the 11th annual, I’m told! We have approached this sale with cautious optimism. For a couple of reasons, the obvious one is the never seen before cattle prices. Customers showing me their returns, upwards of $3000 for 700lb calves in the new year, cull cows and bulls at a very high level, and breds selling at unprecedented prices. I tell people, it’s like having two cows for one. With cattle numbers low it looks like the market should stay strong for sometime, the only elephant in the room would be government policy. Hope they can get their “_ _ _ _” figured out!
Secondly, we are very excited to introduce Rocky Meadow Ranch, Niko & Jenna, Garry & Shelly Grose & their families to our bull sale. The Grose family live a short 4 miles away from us, on the Saskatchewan side of the border. As all cattle producers will understand, labour is becoming a very serious issue. Last spring, before breeding season, we put our heads together, instead of butting them, and more or less joined forces. We worked alongside each other to breed the cattle, and have continued to do everything from pasturing to weaning together, all under one umbrella so to speak. The bulls are all being fed right here at JP, right beside the sale barn, while all the open heifers are over at Rocky Meadow. All the cows are here being calved out, then the 1st and 2nd calvers are moved to Grose’s with their babies. The calving crew is very busy as there is double the cows, but they seem to be staying more fresh and rested then previous years, with the better designation of labour. We have found many synergies within our operations by doing this!
Back to the bull sale, we have a large offering this year, near 100 yearlings, plus a select group of 2 year olds, for the people who prefer them over the yearlings. We have a strong group of reds this year, of which we are usually short of. A very nice pen of angus and a strong set of simmentals & percentage bulls. The combination of the two sets of bulls have complimented each other very well, being fed together, they are very similar in shape, confirmation and temperament.
Another point I want to make, we have done everything together to this point, but we are selling them together also. You won’t find us pointing you, the customer, at our bull or them to their bull. Our goal is to fit you with the bull that best suits your personal needs! And of course we will stand behind all of them with our strong guarantee as we always do.
I think that’s enough said about the past year, it’s been a very gratifying experience to watch the next generation, from two different operations, come together as one, to pursue a common goal, to produce strong cattle together that compliment one another, while always in pursuit of new and outstanding genetics to move your programs forward. While at the same time passing these qualities to our customers to help them be successful.
As well this year we have former breeders Marlin Leblanc, owner of R Plus Simmentals, and Brian McCarthey, owner of SpringCreek Simmentals, available to take calls or offer their opinions for your convenience. We also have Layton Bezan from Canadian Superior Livestock, and Rhett Parks, owner of Whitewood Livestock Sales, attending the sale. Their acquaintances in the course of a year with commercial cattle producers would be high in the 100’s. We are happy and appreciative to have all these astute cattlemen on board for our sale to answer your questions and offer assistance.
In closing I have a couple thank-yous to make, to the T Bar C crew for all they do for us, it does not go unnoticed, Melissa McCrae of Prairie Pistol Designs for our pictures and videos, and Bennett Foster for cleaning up the bulls and trimming them. And of course our staff and family members that do all the work. Scott Webb, Thomas Selby, Allan Webb, Aaron Poole, Charles Barkley, Floyd Martin, and Alex Hamilton and any others that come and go through the course of a year.
Hopefully we will see you on the 27th at the bull sale here in McAuley. We are thankful for our repeat customers that support us year after year and very much look forward to meeting new people that come for a visit. Of course, come before the sale if that suits your busy schedule better. Coffee is always on.

Bigger than ever the JP/RMR crews have really stepped it up a gear to offer a tremendous set of bulls. The large cowherd base they both have enables the determination that only the top of the pen make the sale. Also this year the 2 year olds that have been planned out for a couple years and really give you the buyer a one stop shop approach for selection, variety and quality. The Sim and Sim influenced cattle are bred so well with Dimensional doing a man’s job again and leading off the respective pens. A bull to get to know is Tesla, with lots of progeny in the sale. This Bull has the power, hair and foot that the industry demands with an excellent set of sons on offer. The angus portion is stacked right up with an own son of the Rosillia cow and the first calf crop of pay weight sire Souris River. Within each breed you’ll notice the effect of the cow behind each bull. These programs have been relentless when purchasing not only herdbulls but foundation cows from top sales all across the country. Furthermore holding back all the top heifers within their respective herds gains even more consistency which you can also see with many carry the JP and RMR tattoo as well.
All of us at T Bar C endorse these programs to the highest regard. The opportunity to do business with these outfits is very satisfying. The strength of their cattle and their stand by behind them approach is second to none in the purebred sector. These people are true cattle people, know what it takes and cull severely hard annually. So please join us in McAuley for a bigger then ever Bull Sale and let’s enjoy this cattle market and fulfill your herd with a herdbull from these programs to advance forward.
Sincerely,
Ben Wright
We have vigorously been working at obtaining and breeding the best possible stock we can. With holding all the top daughters back within our own herd now for some years, we really feel the strength of that is pulling through. Dimensional amongst other notable sires have really stepped it into high gear in this purebred pen this year.

Lights Out is the bull we dream of breeding. From a superior mother who has over 25 direct progeny, we feel Lights Out 77M is the best Dimensional to date . Of course Dimensional is the $200,000 National Champion Bull of 2023 who creates frame, muscle and hair. His mother, 53W has a story as long as you can write coming to us as a high seller from the Spring Creek program. In our opinion one of our best efforts ever to date with an EPD profile and a stature so fitting for today’s needs within the cattle industry.
Not with a whisper but with a bang. Considering the numbers that are on offer in our 2025 sale, we wanted to come out of the gate swinging with these two Dimensional full brothers leading the charge. The rib shape, excellent muscle, hair, and extra degree of look that Dimensional has stamped into his second calf crop proves that the first year hype will not die down. Even more appealing is the maternal backing these fellas have, Jaycee 53W is perhaps the most consistent donor cow that we have ever had the pleasure of owning. She has many herd bulls on her resume, including the 2019 high selling bull to Double Bar D Farms. Form and function collide, just decide if you want a solid black model or a flashy blaze face.

The Simmental and purebred livestock business as a whole can be guilty of always searching for the hot new flavour of the month, but for a cow to be able to stand the test of time and crank out as many quality herd sires and replacement females that Goldy 135A has is what makes just genuinely good cattle, and ultimately profit for those that have her influence. No matter the mating, she transmits high fertility, performance, and a consistent type and kind into her progeny. Perhaps her best and most notable effort is one of the the highest selling sons of the $200,000 Affiliate to date, JPCC Confederate, who walks the pastures of Kearns Cattle in Nebraska and of which Lots 3 through 5 are full brothers of. These three lots are proof that adding stoutness, mass, and power does not mean that a ‘look at me now’ presence needs to be sacrificed.

That cow power mated to Royal Flush has resulted in two exceptional full brothers that are certain to build performance and poundage right in.

Get a load of the figures on this guy! A top 10% rank in WW and Top 5% in YW make this guy a serious contender in the ‘who can sire performance oriented, heavy calves that will make the neighbours jealous’ department. A chance meeting in Denver when Royal Flush was on display led to us buying the high selling Walking Boss from the Ishee family of Mississippi. Products of the system in the best way. Honey 102G has been one of the crowd favorites amongst all of us on the farm, and with her 2022 effort being a high selling bull calf sell to our friends and neighbours at Peeco Ranch and Rocky Meadow Ranch, she has more than proven herself worthy of the donor pen. If that picture doesn’t get your engine revving, the number profile that comes along with it should do it. In our mind, this is the clashing of titans when it comes to pedigree. On the top side you will find Next Century, who has taken the breed by storm when it comes to impressing both phenotypically and on paper, showcasing dominant cow families in the Wheatland program with exceptional udders and foot quality. And not to be out done, on the bottom side is our $22,000 Yuma daughter from the R Plus dispersal. This is everything we could have asked for from that mating; dark red in colour, hairy, correct in terms of build, and stout. He was born small at 69 pounds, and has done nothing but take off since.
3/4 Simmentals
The most efficient way to have a solid foundation maternally are these ¾ bloods. They come easy and grow faster then Lainey Wilsons popularity. The hair and thickness with added milk of the sim, with the balance and maternal instinct of the Angus just clicks. One of our favourite pens, be sure to check them out

When you spot Final Answer in a pedigree, you know that maternal traits are going to be second to none. JPCC Dimensional 169M
The Stewart females sure have been good to us, with 102D being no exception. We are proud to sound like a broken record when it comes to how consistent these Dimensionals are. This good looking, blazed faced, small headed rascal is an excellent option to add pay weight and retain phenotype.
Once again, we have utilized Tesla for his ability to transmit extra frame size and length of side into his progeny. 59M is proof that it is not wasted breath. Nothing adds pounds quite like adding length, so couple that with a top 20% WW and 15% YW and you are laughing all the way to the bank.
Sired by the high selling 1/2 blood full out of the JP bull sale in 2022 that we purchased with Peeco Ranch, and backed by a very nicely put together first calf heifer that goes back to 5015, 231M has a bulletproof pedigree to go along with a nicely constructed, hairy build.

Initiating the purebred Angus offering is an individual with as buzzworthy of a pedigree as you will find in Canadian Angus circles these days. Not only is he a maternal brother to the $70,000 ½ interest Peak Dot Gatsby….but his maternal sister selling in February Freeze 2025 is regarded as ‘the best female that has ever been bred and raised at Peak Dot.’ That is a heck of a big statement, but after examining the body shape, feet, udder, and feminine presence….we dare say that it is likely a factual one. The top side on 0121M is certainly no slouch either, with Rectify being noted as combining excellent calving ease and performance with a thick top, deep side, and maternal oriented pedigree. Souris River and Turning Heads collide to produce an exceptional powerhouse, value added herd sire prospect. He has very respectable growth numbers, with all the mass, shape, frame, and power from his sire, along with the attractiveness and smooth make of Turning Heads. Just look at his big hip, rib shape, and extension.
A 3/4 brother to Lot 93 that comes correct. He is massive and performance oriented, yet still great looking. While Souris River is known as a performance and power bull, he also has an awesome maternal backing with cows featuring great udders and strong feet.
