Welcome to the Canadian National Charolais Sale, Thursday, October 26, 2023. This event is twofold as the Manitoba Charolais Association plays host to the National Show at Brandon Ag-Ex and Manitoba Ag-Ex celebrates their fifty-year anniversary. We can be assured that the National promises the highest standard of seedstock in the show with plenty of fellowship and camaraderie to round out the week.

The sale lineup is outstanding in all divisions. We must take our hats off to the Charolais Breeders in Manitoba for being hosts and virtually opening the front pasture gates during our selections. The females in the offering are herd foundation material whether you are looking for a bred individual or a heifer calf out of the exciting lineup of show prospects that are just starting their competitiveness. The flush, the semen and of course the “Players Club” are the many reasons to be with us in Brandon.

This might be preaching to the choir, but the Charolais breed is the hottest, most sought after breed of beef cattle in the industry. Their influence can be seen at every presort calf sale throughout the nation…. they weigh more and bring a nickel to a dime more and start virtually every sale. Here at Bar J Charolais we have always strived to produce cattle with eye appeal that go out and preform with ease and “Bar J Manhattan 397L” does exactly that!!!!

From a young age this KAYR Django son has had that attractive herd bull presence written all over him. Manhattan’s dam “Bar J Gossip Girl 194G” who is an “Elder’s Magnum 50E” daughter has quickly proven she is the kind of female that great herds are built around. With both her full brothers going into purebred herds and the third brother shaping up to do the same this perfect uddered, eye catching young cow is just getting started. Ranks in the top 15% of the breed EPD for weaning and the top 10% for yearling weight. Here is a heifer out of our program we feel will go out and do some great things.

HTA Delight 228K, aka Princess Peach, is a deep bodied, soft made, easy doing heifer with a gentle disposition. The Delight cow family represents the largest percentage of females in our herd. Princess Peach’s granddam, 305A, is 10 years old and still going strong. Princess Peach is sired by HTA Spiderman – a homeraised HTA Astroid son out of a Hot Stuff cow. His females are consistent, good uddered and the bulls compete for the top end of the pen. Princess Peach’s pedigree is stacked with maternal strength and she is a “peach” to be around. Our daughter is 10 years old and showed her all summer. Princess Peach is bred early to our new herdsire, Hulk Hogan 50J, a Game Day son. Our first crop of “Hulk” calves are on the ground and we are so excited for the potential of these calves. We admire their natural muscle, performance, consistency and good dispositions. We are very excited to offer pick of two of our best heifer calves at this year’s National Sale. Both heifers were sired by Brimner Bull 92H, high seller at the Brimner’s Cattle Co. bull sale in 2021. Lily 106L is my kind of heifer; she is thick, big topped, and a has a really nice hind quarter. Lily’s dam NOF 11G produced our highest selling bull at the 2023 Prairie Distinction Bull Sale. Lux 115L also has some distinguishing qualities that can’t go unnoticed. Lux is a fancy, smoothly made heifer with a show worthy head; all of this is topped off with a great set of feet! Lux’s dam Steppler Miss 33E is turning into a foundation female here for us. TERMS:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association unless otherwise stated. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

PEDIGREE ESTIMATES

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

HEALTH:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

GUARANTEE:

Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

PREGNANCY INFORMATION:

All serviceable age females have been pregnancy examined by an accredited veterinarian, giving an estimated length of gestation. This estimated gestation period shall be used only as a guideline to calving and is not a guarantee of actual service.

LIABILITIES:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co.
