Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of the sale. Animals remaining at the sale facility or the seller’s farm must be insured.

The USD will be accepted at the rate of exchange on sale day, which will be announced prior to the sale.

EXPORT

Testing requirements for export to US will be handled by the respective consignor. All costs associated with exporting will be that of the buyer.

DELIVERY

Consignors will assist with arranging delivery as quickly as possible after the sale. Knill Transport will be available on or shortly after sale day for any long distance trucking needs.

Success in the purebred cattle industry is hard to come by but success begins with a strong first step. That first step can be the purchase of a new bred heifer to add to the herd, can be a successful show heifer or a breed altering herd sire. As we welcome you to our fourth Platinum Picks Charolais Female Sale, we want to pass on our successes to our buyers to make the next generation the very best yet.

The ever-evolving group of consignors that make up our sale are dedicated Charolais breeders that raise practical cattle that are sound, functional, high production and easy to manage. These are the type of cattle that go on to be successful in any herd whether it be purebred or commercial. Get to know us and our cattle, you will find that this business, this breed is our passion!

As you take a look through the catalogue at the offering you will notice that we have on offer a wide selection of genetic options and phenotypes. We also have secured bred cows for those that want to see the proven ones, bred heifers for those that are looking to add to their replacement pen and heifer calves that will work as show heifers or as future brood cow prospects.

This year, we are moving our sale to the new DanG Sale Facility located at 1940 Telephone Road, Colborne. We are very excited to bring the great staff at Hoards Station Sale Barn with us to our new facility. Please join us in person for the sale, supper and hospitality to follow.

2023 has not been kind to our sale group; we move into this fourth sale missing three people that were very close to all of our hearts: Ivan Hutchinson of Amabec Charolais, Kelly Langstaff of Langstaff Charolais and Tim Bullick who assisted as a Sales Consultant for us. Not only were these great men champions of the Charolais breed but also very dear friends to everyone involved in our sale.

Ivan, Kelly and Tim will all want us to move on with this great event and make it as successful as it could be. Here is a cow that we are extremely proud of here at Terry Creek and folks who drop by tell me she is Donor cow material!!!!! TCC 41G’s sire, Pleasant Dawn Essence 701E has left his stamp in our herd as you can see with her moderate frame, good shape and feminine design. Miss Terry Creek 41G offers a great set of performance EPD’s whereby she is in the top 3% of the breed for WW, YW and CW. She has raised three “top notch” heifer calves while on the farm with her first daughter (TCC 141J) being the lead off lot and one of the high sellers at our 2022 sale. Her second daughter is in the bred heifer “keeper pen” with a “not for sale” sign and this year’s heifer calf is on offer making the cow/calf pair. The cherry on top is the confirmed AI service to Pleasant Dawn Transport who was supposed to be the lead off lot at the 2023 Pleasant Dawn bull sale in March. Instead, he was kept back and I was able to purchase the Ontario semen rights to this new and exciting herd sire!!!! An easy doing Distinction daughter off of a deep bodied, good milking Bluegrass cow I purchased out of the Jordan River Dispersal Sale a few years ago. A full brother to 119J was the high seller in our spring bull sale 2 years ago to Darling Farms. This is a true breeding piece; I worked very hard to get this pedigree. If anyone knows me then they know that Turton cattle can do no wrong, combine that with outcross American genetics with Famous and you get a result like this female. Made to be a cow! The mother to this female is one of the nicest uddered females in the Charolais breed. Maternal sisters have been sold through this sale to Annuroc Charolais and Brad Fledderus. To continue on with exceptional breeding, this heifer was serviced to DF Mr Outrageous on April 9th. The resultant calf should have tons of show potential as well as the makings for a front pasture brood cow.

This female will compete. We sold a maternal sibling to Cailyn Barton a couple years back and she turned into an awesome cow!

24 DONATION HEIFER

Well Folks...2023 has been a hard one on friends.

First, we lost Ivan Hutchinson who was ironically on his way to our place to work on the sale bulls....doing what he loved to the last minute. Ivan was a 4H leader for years, and did so much for the kids. Ivan was a doer. He and Eric planned the shows at DanG, all I did was have the place. A very humble man who never wanted anything for all of his hard work but to see kids smile.

Kelly Langstaff and I were introduced years ago at Hoard’s Station Sale Barn by Gord Tomlinson. “Well!” Kelly said, “You’re the SOB!” I was second bidder on JWX Fifty Shades from Wilgenbusch. He got over that!! We went from there to buying a bull together, PCC Apex 416B, who you will see in some the our cow’s pedigrees in this years offerings. We were good friends right until the end. Kelly called to wish me luck with our bull sale and was gone the next day.

Mr. Tim Bullick. My Mentor, the man who lit this fire in me with Charolais Cattle. Not sure if I should love him or hate him for that. We became friends after Kelly and I bought a bull. It started on the phone...then I started to travel a bit to Charolais events across the west. Tim and Wanda took us into their home and treated us like family. We spent a lot of time on the phone and conversing, making sure to cover all of the topics, weather, current events, sales, but always back to cattle. Tim was never pushy. He was the Master of planting a seed and watching it grow. In starting our sale Platinum Picks, Tim was with us from the start. He planted that seed too. Barry Baldwin and I might not have met if it weren’t for Tim. One of his trips down here to see us, he said, “Let’s go for a drive!” So we went Barry’s... who is one of my best friends now...he knew we would get along. In more recent times, Tim was on the Board of Friends of Charolais and was very committed to it. I would like to help keep his dreams alive for Friends of Charolais because we have lost too many this year.

Tami and I have decided to donate the best heifer we have raised to date who is DANG Kolbie 525K. An embryo calf from the great cow PCC 504C who Tim picked out for me. She truly is a diamond in the rough and we have over 25 offspring from her already. The sire PCC Lincoln 15H, also a bull Tim picked out for me. He knows I love length and Lincoln was LONG... This donation heifer would never leave DanG if not for this reason. A lot of great blood behind this one. Get your hand up for a great cause. Also, we will provide semen of your choice. Anything in the DanG tanks, lots of choices there. I better finish this before Eric’s ready to kill me. Tim, get a salt lick and some tequila ready for when I get there. She has produced many leading ladies in many herds as well as several top notch herdsires. Lisa is a twin to the heifer I’m showing at the Royal Winter Fair this year.
