Lone Star Angus Power Up Bull Sale

Page 1

Let the good times roll; it is finally time for the beef producer to SHINE, the last 12 months have been a wild ride. The Canadian beef cow herd is at the lowest numbers it’s been in 40 years, and the demand for quality beef continues to outpace the domestic supply. It doesn’t appear that there is an end in sight. We are seeing record cattle prices, the futures are off the charts, and there is an exciting buzz in the cattle industry. In good times it is easy to make money, that ol 3 titted, bad footed, wife killing cow will still make a buck, and that Bull that sires average poor doing calves is still getting the cows pregnant. WRONG!! Those are cracks in your program that are costing you money, now is the time to fix those cracks. In times like this it’s easy to get complacent and just take the money, but we need to Take advantage of the high prices, ship those weak links and replace them with PROFIT DRIVEN cattle. Improve your genetics and management practices so when the next swing comes you are prepared. From the first calf heifer, to the steer calves you sell in the fall, to the rib eye on the consumer's plate we can’t take our foot off the gas, as producers we need to excel in quality. The first place to excel in quality is with your Bull purchases. Buy bulls that are going to make you MONEY. A steer calf that weighs 50lb heavier at weaning than your average is getting you an extra $155 that’s not chump

change, it’s simple math. Those extra 50 pounds come from buying bulls that sire longer spined, better performing calves.

Live calves are a must, but it’s a fine line of what’s calving ease and what’s just too dang little. We’ve just come through a colder than cold Februarythose calves needed a little extra punch to them in order to survive, the little 60lb calf didn’t thrive, it struggled to stay alive. Calves need to be born easy and thrive from start to finish. Those extra 10 to 15 pounds at birth will pay you all the way down the line - from selling calves in the fall to hanging on the rail MORE POUNDS = MORE $$ PROFIT

The bulls are in BREEDING CONDITION not FEEDLOT CONDITION. They have been developed on a balanced high roughage ration in large runs. Bulls that don’t jump cost you money. Our Farm to Plate business allows us to be very harsh on our Bull Sale Bulls - only the best make the cut, these are bulls that will help you excel your program.

With all of the Bull buying choices out there, Thank you for choosing Lone Star Angus, we appreciate it.

The Bull Stops Here

Simply put we’re a complete program

The price of beef is CRAZY! I’m sure you’ve said that, and heard it countless times. But is it really? The price has jumped on everything in the last 40 years. A new 140hp chore tractor is $175,000, a new truck is $100,000, those jeans your wife is wearing $150 plus, your Cinch shirt $80, and a case of beer $30. So when you look to buy that new Bull don’t look for the cheapest but rather look for the best that you can afford, one that is going to move and enhance your program in the right direction. This message really hit home for us when we entered the retail beef market. Yes beef is great and Alberta Beef is the best, but steaks are not all created equal and there is a huge variation in the market place. I know that as a cow calf producer we are not getting paid for those superior carcasses, but I do believe the day will come, when the consumer demands a better quality straight through.

We are taking farm-to-plate to the next level.

184,000lbs of Lone Star Angus beef was marketed directly to family tables in 2024.

In 2024 we processed 230 angus beef. However this has created a problem for us; Lone Star Angus Beef has grown bigger than we can service with our own cattle. We don’t want to source just any old beef, we want the best. By developing a Lone Star Angus Calf Buyback loyalty program we are creating a win win situation. Our Lone Star Angus bull customers will be eligible for $.05 - $.10 premium above current market prices, and Lone Star Angus will be able to service the demand for our Lone Star Angus Beef products by accessing more Lone Star Angus genetics therefore ensuring our customers will still be getting the same high quality Lone Star Angus Beef they have become accustomed to.

First Breeding Season Loss Of Use

We understand that when you have livestock “things” happen. For bulls selling for $5000 or more that does not complete a full breeding season, we will share in the replacement cost up to 50% of the value of the injured bull. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian, this does Not cover any mismanagement of the bull. Please notify us immediatley should an injury occur, prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 01, 2025.

Example 1 – A $6000 bull is injured, a credit of $3000 minus any salvage value will be given to the buyer

Example 2 – A $4000 bull is injured, no credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value.
