One year later and we are back to offering this year’s pen of bulls. Thank you for your interest and support. It was finally time for a rewarding calf run. Congratulations for sticking it out for what will hopefully be a worthwhile run in the cattle business. We know cow numbers remain low, so we continue to strive for a quality over

quantity group of bulls to offer. The pen this year has really benefitted from good summer grass and a forgiving fall season. Watching them develop this fall has been fun to see. The fact that the cows are still out grazing on New Years Day and looking good doing it might be more fun. There are multiple new sire groups on offer this year with the first offering from Lightning 44J, Alco 39J and Juneau 201J. New AI sires are on offer as well as the last natural group of sons from Frank and Admiral The bulls were weaned on October 5th without creep. While it makes sense to creep feed commercially, we want to know what the cow herd is capable of weaning on their own. The cow herd continues to impress us with their ability to flesh up, rebreed and raise a top end marketable calf every year. The calves were pail fed for a month then transitioned to a corn silage, hay, grain and mineral TMR with free choice hay on the side. The diet is balanced for a target gain of 2.25-2.5 lbs. The bulls will be semen tested early April with free delivery starting at a time that works for both of us. So with that, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Since being the leadoff bull in the Grasslands Bull Sale, Alco continues to impress us and check the boxes for top end herdbull material. He is a stylish, long spined individual with an awesome foot underneath him. His sons follow a similar pattern with great docility. His daughters are the real calling card, with many of them topping the heifer pen this year. He saw use his first year on 1st and 2nd calving cows coming off the 2021 drought and a brutal winter to follow. They weren’t in great rig going out to grass and because of that, his calves are the youngest sire group. He saw heavy service on mature females last summer and next spring can’t come fast enough. We took a 15 minute drive and found 201J quickly in the Valleyhills pen. A calving ease specialist, he bred and successfully calved all the heifers in his first calf crop. His dam is one of my favourite cows in their herd, with lots of Angus character, square udder and solid footed. Juneau is a moderate framed herdbull that fleshes up easily, has high libido and settles most cows on his first cycle. Sons 84 lbs BW, heifers 68 lbs BW

Lightning was a feature calf at the Flying K bull sale in 2022 and we are very glad we got him. He saw use on the replacement pen and a handful of mature cows in his first year and settled all but one. He is one of the highest libido bulls I have ever seen. His first calf crop is incredible, especially considering how many came out of heifers. That isn’t normal here. They are a very high quality group from him with incredible consistency. A walking bull we purchased in 2021 to add some performance to cows and get the influence of his dam into our herd. His first calf crop was well received with more top sons on offer again. We are in the bull business, but we wanted to make females when we bought him. Now that his oldest daughters have had their second calf, we can say he’s done that.
