We are coming off of our 6th year in a row of below average moisture. Sourcing enough winter feed has become more challenging with each passing year. We are optimistic that 2023 will be the year that everything turns around! One thing is for certain that the cowherd has never been scrutinized and culled as hard as it has been in recent years. Either you get the job done or we don’t need you to be here. No excuses.
The search is constant for fresh genetics to add to our program. Whether it be a herd bull, female or AI sire, there isn’t a catalog in this country that we don’t read. We also have found that using sires bred and raised right here at SVS has moved our program forward. Not only are these bulls working incredibly well in our program, they are seeing very similar success and popularity throughout the industry. This is something that is extremely rewarding and we are very proud of!

It is a pleasure to be working with the Libke family at Sunny Valley Simmental. The Libke family continues to provide exception bulls to the seedstock and commercial cattleman. There is a high-quality offering for the 33nd Annual Bull & Female Sale where the quality runs deep throughout the entire pen.
The Sunny Valley cowherd utilizes a chelated mineral package throughout the entire year which is crucial to the overall health and immunity of the sale bulls on offer. The mother cows along with their calves have access to free choice mineral throughout the entire summer and fall. Throughout the winter the cows are then force fed a high quality organic mineral package with their daily feed ensuring consistent consumption. The program prioritizes harvesting high quality hay every year for the bulls to consume throughout the development stage. The bulls are limit fed a high protein pellet to promote lean muscle growth and prioritize longevity. The diet also contains a chelated mineral package to strengthen the bulls own immune system and compliment their growth patterns. The bull diet and nutrition of the cow herd is monitored year around to ensure the animals overall health flourishes in the environmental and seasonal conditions.

This group of brothers is truly worth the drive to see! The flush also produced 3 excellent females that we are very high on. These brothers should produce sound, functional cattle that are right for todays market. The daughters will be ideal females, we love our Tycoon daughters and the Sage’s are simply as good as it gets!

Homo Polled. Cruise is a real interesting calf and one we really like. We seriously considered keeping him ourselves but when you see how many he is related to around here it gets tough to justify. He is a dark red hairy Tycoon son with plenty of length and when you look from behind a big wide top and hip that carries down into his quarter. Cruise is the calving ease option in the Tycoon sire group. With just an 82 lb birthweight and EPD’s that put him into the top 25% for calving ease & top 10% for birthweight. He has the potential to work on well developed heifers & young cows. His dam Sassy 75G is one of my favourite you cows. She boasts a good udder, moderate frame and real good feet. Her two year old Strut daughter just calved here the other day and looks great.

Homo Polled. Genesis is a bull that keeps getting better everyday. All summer when we were hauling water to the cows with bull calves, he is one of the calves that caught my eye. After weaning he has continued to develop into an all round easy doing herd sire. Its tough competition in the red pen this year but Genesis is one of many that have loads of potential. His dam has been a top producer since we purchased her from the good Maxwell program.

Homo Polled. Magnate is one of the top Tycoon sons in the sale. He is a big stout performance bull with a great set of numbers to go with him. His EPD’s are above average across the board. His dam is a dark red, Red Mountain female that is easy to look at. She is the ninth generation of her cow family to be on the farm. Ace is the only blazed face bull in what is a tremendous set of Tycoon sons. He is out of a smaller made Fullblood cow that puts all she has into her calves. Ace is a real good calf that is correct in every way. He should produce a great set of both bulls and females that have a good chance of being born with the blaze face.
Homo Polled. SVS Cortez 74K is a dark red, hairy, blaze faced bull with an awesome pedigree. This flush produced an awesome set of females with 2 sisters being Calf Champion and Reserve Calf Champion in the Intermediate Division at Agribition. We really like this bull and see a lot of potential even though his recip mother didn’t milk like she should have and gave him a rough start to life. Be sure to look this guy up sale day and buy him for how he will produce.

Homo Polled. SVS Marksman 95K is an end of February Rancher son with a moderate 83lb birth weight. He was purchased in dam from our pick of the Meadow Acres dispersal. As you can see by her picture, she is one good looking cow. Rancher is breeding extremely well and will continue to see use in our program for years to come. This long bodied, good footed bull will just continue to get better with age!

His dam was selected out of the WLB dispersal and comes from one of their most popular cow families. We are really happy with the cattle that SVS Bond is producing, a true curve bender bull. We unfortunately lost him due to a breeding injury this past summer.
Homo Polled. SVS Trustee 89K is one of the younger bulls in the pen but you sure wouldn’t know it! He is long, smooth, sound and out of a high performance Jenna female. Rev was a walking herdsire that was a dark, moderate, impressive bull with an excellent foot. We unfortunately lost him to a breeding injury early in the spring. 89K is a good, honest, no nonsense bull that we can recommend with confidence.

Homo Polled. SVS Rush 79K is our only Slider bull on offer but he sure is a good one! A true calving ease bull, Slider is one of the most consistent heifer bulls we have used. We expect Rush 79K to follow in his sires footsteps and calve really well. He has a cool made, attractive, smooth build. We think very highly of 79K as we all know the value in having that reliable calving ease bull. Rush 79K is that bull. He is worth the second look!

Females like Cheyenne 3H are the reason why. Bishop has just an 80 lb. birthweight and EPD’s that put him in the top 1 or 2% of the breed while still providing adequate performance.

Hetero Polled. 48K is the only red Betts son in the sale this year. We wish we had more just like him. The bonus is that 48K comes with a splash of white on his face. His dam is a hardworking young Full Fleckvieh cow that does an exceptional job on her calves. You should see her first daughter now that she has calved. Using Betts on the Becky cow family really worked and should provide a greater chance of blaze faced progeny.

Polled. SVS Westcott 8K is the result of a pregnant recip purchase at Quinn Wilson’s dispersal. I really liked the 45A donor cow for her mass, power, good udder and big foot. 8K is a long bodied, performance bull. He will add pounds to a set of calves.

Hetrozygous Polled. 75K is a real dark red blaze faced Strut son that we really like. He provides plenty of calving ease as well as top end performance. Dilutor Free. 32K is a bull we really have to admire for his awesome length, big square hip, dark red color and great hair coat. Length of body is one of the most important traits. It can really add pounds to your calves in the fall and is one of the things feedlot buyers look for. 32K’s dam is a really good first calver with a great udder and feet. She comes from a cow family that has produced very well. It started with 58X the mother of Sunny Valley Dakota. It has been mentioned more than once that Crystal 71H (32K’s dam) should be flushed.

Hetero Polled, Dilutor. 52K is a smooth made, long sided Shamrock son that packs quite a few pounds into a moderate package. With just an 86 lb. birthweight he provides a measure of calving ease with average performance. The light birth weights are typical of the Wendy cow family with many heifer bulls in 52K’s pedigree. Guerrero, Blueprint and Sargent. 52K should work well on a group of young cows.

Homo Polled, Homo Black. Rocket is a calving ease bull with great numbers. He started out with just at 72 lbs and had an actual weaning weight of 870 lbs. He has a well balanced set of EPD’s with both his calving ease and birth weight being in the top 10% of the breed. His dam is a good one. She comes from Amanda’s great Flirt cow family that originated at Rancier Farms. The Flirt cows have had a huge impact on the entire Simmental Industry.
