GOVERNOR’S UPDATE

FROM RACHEL ISELIN

DIVISION ELECTION CONFERENCES It's November which means we are over halfway through our terms. That means it's time to prepare for your division's election conference. Your conference must be help in December or January. The ABSOLUTE latest that you can hold your DEC is the last weekend in February. Candidacy forms will be released soon onto the website as well as sent out to you all to distribute to your clubs. Please refer to our District Bylaws for DEC guidelines.

KEY LEADER This past weekend, Brendon Nguyen, Vanessa Castaneda, Nolan Ford, and I had the opportunity to attend an AMAZING Key Leader. It was an incredible experience and we got to meet so many amazing people. We will be posting a recap on the website, so stay tuned!

THE ELIMINATE PROJECT UPDATE Thanks for making 2015 the best Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF year yet. Key Clubs saved the lives of moms and babies because clubs chose to collect coins instead of candy. Now it’s time to celebrate! Encourage clubs to celebrate and announce accomplishments to their schools and communities. Remind clubs to use the new Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF certificate to recognize club members’ contribution to eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus. And, most importantly, encourage clubs to send in their hard-earned funds to receive recognition for their work. Funds should be mailed to:

!

The Eliminate Project: Campaign Office Kiwanis International Foundation P.O. Box 6457 - Dept. #286 Indianapolis, IN 46206 ATTN: Trick-or-Treat

Remind clubs to write the club name and club number on the memo line of the check-so we can make certain clubs receive the recognition and credit they deserve. Thanks again for being a part of our worldwide effort to change history and save lives. You are truly making a difference!

SECRETARY UPDATE FROM LILY NGUYEN Hey T-O!

I had a fantastic time at Fall Board planning the rest of the Key Club year and bonding with my fellow staff members! Everybody was so welcoming, and I was reminded of what made me fall in love with Key Club in the first place: the sense of community that comes with serving others. The only downside was not getting to meet all of you, but hey, Winter Board will be here before we know it. As for reporting, there has been a slight decrease in monthly reports from September to October. Please continue to encourage your clubs to send in reports. In my experience, club secretaries become more and more lax as the year progresses, especially as the holidays approach. It's imperative to push harder for reporting during this time of year so that we finish strong at the end. Make sure to share the Secretary Resources on the district website to any club secretary in need, or direct them to me. I'd be more than happy to help!

Unfortunately, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is over. That means that clubs should be turning in their funds to Kiwanis International for the Eliminate Project. All information regarding submitting club donations can be found on the Kiwanis website here: http://goo.gl/chvlwK. Remind your club secretaries to include their donation in their Activity Sheet in their monthly report. Remind them that proof is required for money donated over $500! As you all know, the deadline for dues is November 30th. Clubs should be working with the Member Update Center (MUC) to get those in as soon as possible. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask Emily, our wonderful District Treasurer, for help. Remind your clubs that proof of payment of dues must be included in their monthly report in order to receive credit. This proof may be a photocopy of the dues check or a copy of the credit transaction to Kiwanis International. If you're ever unsure if your proof is sufficient, contact me and I'll let you know. Finally, remind your clubs to check out the T-O Club Newsletter. Matthew works really hard to make these newsletters, and they include important information that every Key Clubber should know. I wish you all the best during the Thanksgiving holiday, and I can't wait to see you at Winbo!
