What Does Color Say About Consumers in 2016? They crave peace, balance and calmness throughout their life Consumers are seeking mindfulness and wellbeing as a remedy to stress. As a result, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. The PANTONE Color Institute announced, for the first time in history, two colors for the 2016 Color of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Joined together, they demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting a soothing sense of order and peace. It’s a symbolic color selection and a snapshot of what we see taking place in our culture. Rose Quartz is a gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, much like the expanse

of blue sky, which brings feelings of respite and relaxation during turbulent times. Gender equality? Perhaps. In many parts of the world a gender blur is transforming fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design, including interior design. According to BRABBU Design Forces, watch for these trends in 2016: • Decorating with metallics is at the top of the design trend, including mirrors, lighting and accessories • Contemporary lighting with smoky glass is bold yet soothing • Copper is big in kitchens and lighting – it’s especially nice in a hammered texture • The classics like chrome, silver or gold leaf remain timeless

For the Love of Dogs Miller’s Fine Decorative Hardware is proud of its corporate sponsorship and support of local non-profit organizations. We believe in the philosophy that helping others is at the heart of true success. Each year, we host events or provide sponsorships for Big Dog Ranch Rescue and Busch Wildlife.
