Croom Construction installed aged Pecky Cypress to create the family room ceiling’s beautiful architectural details.

A Striking Resurrection In 2011, one of our clients experienced what all of us hope never happens – lightning destroyed their home. The original home was built in 2000 by Croom Construction and had been kept in pristine condition. Following the storm’s quick destruction, and nearly two years later, what transpired was a beautiful collaboration between the homeowners, Croom Construction Company, Whitehall Professional Property Management, and Precision Painting & Waterproofing. The first four to six months required our team’s due diligence with the homeowner’s insurance company. Once complex insurance details were resolved, new construction began. At the client’s request, we rebuilt their home to closely follow the original architectural design, including the custom interior paint finishes.

The warm and open kitchen plan seamlessly adjoins the family room, where cooking, dining, and entertaining can become shared experiences.

Precision Painting & Waterproofing used a five-coat system to create the High Gloss finish on woodwork throughout the home. Millwork surfaces were prepared and subjected to high-intensity lighting to ensure a furniturequality finish.

Unlike hurricanes, thunderstorms can strike with only a moment’s notice. When this happens, emotions run high and there are hundreds of questions to be answered. It’s even more critical that the homeowners work closely with licensed and experienced contractors who can help them navigate the difficult insurance requirements and successfully rebuild their home to its original grandeur. In September of this year, Croom Construction had the distinct pleasure of witnessing our clients move into their beautiful, new-original home in John’s Island. It was a rare but rewarding journey from start to finish, and the ultimate result was a beautiful home resurrection.

smartmove #16 When is the best time to repaint your home? As we move into the dry season, now is the best time to re-evaluate your home’s exterior painting needs. If repainting is required, Precision Painting & Waterproofing recommends it be completed before the height of our tropical season. Contact James (JC) Choquet at 772.567.1221.

smartmove #20 Considering a condominium renovation? Gone are the days when remodeling a condo meant baths and kitchens had to remain in their original locations. We can now move both from one location to another without jeopardizing your neighbors’ unit. Contact Dave Lyons at 772.562.7474.

All painting is not created equal A professional paint job is not only aesthetically pleasing, it’s also your first line of defense against the weather and water intrusion. And contrary to popular beliefs, all paint jobs are not created equal. If you’ve ever experienced poor paint techniques or rapid degradation of paint, you know all too well what we mean. Unfortunately, it’s often related to selecting the least expensive or under-qualified painter. What sets mediocre painting apart from superior paint jobs? Precision’s proven regimen ensures long lasting, beautiful paint finishes backed by manufacturers’ warranties. Many commercial building and residential homeowners have learned that carefully preparing exterior and interior surfaces makes all the difference.

In order to create a solid bond with the masonry surface and avoid early failure of the paint coatings, our surface preparation includes:

• Pressure cleaning • Proper preparation of substrate • Application of primers and sealers • Application of full coat of sealer (versus spot sealing) • Repair of surface defects • Caulking

Preparation also includes careful attention to surfaces that are not to be painted. Taping, covering and/or shielding structures, landscaping, sidewalks and driveways are an important part of our preparatory work. Understanding vital details in advance of your paint project can save you time, money, and frustration.
