Colorful, Cool-Weather Plants Winter in Vero Beach is a beautiful thing. Cooler nights and frequent ocean breezes are just a couple of reasons why so many people love it. Colorful winter plants and flowers simply improve upon our little corner of paradise. Here are a few of Rock City’s favorite winter varieties: Geraniums make a beautiful show of color with their big, bold blooms. They can provide months of vivid red, salmon, pink and other seasonal colors. These popular beauties look gorgeous in a bed all by themselves, mixed in with other plants, or used as an edging plant in a larger garden bed. To create a striking presentation, plant your geraniums in containers or hanging baskets.

used as edging plants, ground cover or grown in containers for a sweet display. Full sun is best, but nemesia bloom longer if they get a little afternoon shade. Gardening Tip

When planting, space your nemesia 4” to 6” apart without disturbing the roots. Water just enough to keep the soil moist.

Gardening Tip

Most varieties prefer full sun and rich soil – compost will give them an added boost. Regular fertilizing is especially important for container-grown geraniums.

Nemesia are colorful, cool-weather plants with blooms that might resemble orchids or snapdragons. These fragrant flowers are bedding plants that can be 2
