Ask Doc Rock Q: A re some plants better than others for cleaning the air? A: While all plants remove carbon dioxide from the air and replace it with oxygen, here are Doc Rock’s five top picks for removing common indoor contaminants:

Dracaena marginata

Spathiphyllum (peace lily) - Helps remove all five of the major categories of toxins and is easy to grow indoors. Sansevieria (mother-in-law tongue) - This is one of the easiest plants to grow, requiring very little light and water. Dracaena marginata - Upright growing and easy care for bright light locations. They are especially good at removing toxins from paints and varnishes. Chamaedorea (bamboo palm) - Lends a tropical feel to indoor medium light locations. It’s especially good at removing toxins that are produced by carpeting, cleaners and paper products. Epipremnun (pothos) - Excellent in just about any location in the home and very easy to care for. Also great for cleaning up toxins that furniture, paper products and carpeting produce.
