Fall Frenzy of Flowers! You know that Rock City Gardens is a full-service retail garden center, but did you also know that we planted more than 21,000 flower plugs every week in September? That’s just one month’s worth of flowers that we grow for you! We plant 242 cultivars of annuals and perennials each fall. By the time it’s all said and done, we grow more than 196,000 flowers and other plants every year. Each is individually planted, watered and fertilized by our team of six, very devoted horticulture specialists. That’s pretty impressive, even if we say so ourselves. We grow all of our flowers on-site and offer them at the peak of season. You might ask: how is this different from other nurseries? We are the only retail garden center in the region to grow our own plants from little plugs and seedlings, and wait to sell the plants and flowers until they are mature. That means they are never transported in dark shipping trucks. It also means our plants are healthy, robust and beautiful from the moment you purchase them. Also unique to Rock City Gardens is our “We Grow For You” program. This enables you to order a specific variety, color and quantity of flowers in advance of the season. Our horticulture specialists will even plant your flowers and care for them throughout the year. To see the many beautiful varieties available right now, visit Rock City Gardens. For your convenience, we’re now open longer hours, seven days a week.

hardscapes

Natural Stone Makes a Statement Our hardscape division continues to grow. If this past summer was an indication of things

to come, we’re growing in the right direction!

Rock City Gardens is able to offer a host of design options

for your outdoor living spaces, whether it’s for residential or commercial projects. From outdoor kitchens and water features to driveways, garden paths and patios, clients are singing the praises of our professional designs and installations. The materials we use in our outdoor applications are also diverse and even unique to our area. Natural stone, for instance, is unique for our coastal area. It’s also beautiful when used in sitting walls, outdoor kitchen islands, fire pits and pathways. We’re beginning to see more of our clients request natural materials over manmade, and depending on your budget and style preference, it is an elegant option to consider. For a personal consultation, and to review the design differences between manmade hardscape materials and natural stone, please contact Wade Baxley at 772.589.5841 or Wade@RockCityGardens.com.

It’s just one of the many benefits of living along Florida’s east coast. Our container garden of the month celebrates beautiful tropicals, including anthurium, neon pothos, bromeliad, neoregela “Monet,” and pleomele “Song of India.”

How Does Your Garden Grow? Medicinal herbs have been in use for thousands of years and are renowned for their effectiveness in treating many diseases. These natural herbs can be grown in your home garden and are effective in boosting the immune system, increasing the body’s resistance to infections, healing allergies, and raising and renewing the body’s vitality. Most culinary herbs can also be used medicinally. Delicious and healthy!
