Incorporating warm colours to a space, such as through burnt oranges and peacock blues adds a playful element of colour and well as depth that is very needed particularly during the colder winter months.
As Dulux announces their 2021 Color of the Year as Brave Ground, natural, earthy colour palette are key for this year Packed with rusts, warm greens, deep reds and soothing browns, bring a comforting atmosphere to the home to help declutter the mind.
ROMO PROJECT: CONCEPT BOARD
ROMO PROJECT: CONCEPT BOARD ➢ Reflecting on the trends drawn from this years interior design trend ‘ Distant Shores’, I have designed and digitally printed a collection of fabrics for my live Autumn Winter ROMO interiors brief. The collection entitled ‘Kalemie Roots’ is based on the natural growing exotic plants in the Democratic Republic of Congo. My collection of prints encompasses the feeling of travel and rhythm in a combination of half drop repeats of banana plants and geometric forms.

JACQUARD WOVEN DESIGNS INSPIRATION
JACQUARD WOVEN DESIGNS
➢ Inspired by negative spaces within architectural photography, I have created jacquard woven designs using Pointe Carre design software. These designs only use 1 weft yarn to produce the image and utilise the warp colour to produce contrast in colour. The block repeat is blended using repeat knowledge to disguise the start of a new repeat.
EMBROIDERY MACHINE SKILLS ➢ Showcasing my divine set of skills in machine embroidery, these samples feature combinations in use of the domestic sewing machine, creating eyelets and seams, as well as digitised machine embroidery using Multihead and industrial machines including the Cornell and Irish machines in creating appliqués and moss stitch for a tactile enhanced quality. These pieces are for home textiles applications such as cushions and throws.
WALLPAPER PRINTS ➢ Inspired by the idea of abstracted florals and breaking the boundaries of conventional floral prints, this interiors collection uses inks and watercolours blown across the page in a spontaneous way. The drawings were then taken into Photoshop and transformed to create a unique print design visualised in a quirky home space.

70’S RETRO STYLE
As consumers seek relief and comfort by looking back to seemingly simpler times, a new take on nostalgia is applied to the home. An ambiguously retro mood emerges, blending eras and combining vintage references with contemporary touches Travel destinations harness vintage glamour combined with functional spaces.

GEOMETRIC INSPIRATION BOARD
My nal major collection entitled ‘Transform’, aims to be inspired by sculptural and adaptable textiles informed by origami, architecture and innovative material technologies. In this project I have drawn visual inspiration from architectural forms as I am interested in the way light moves through linear structures, and the intersection of structures forming buildings and spaces. Exploring possibilities of transformation, I have researched ideas surrounding collapsibility and shape adapting structures. This project will build a dynamic sportswear collection to showcase engineered ‘trompe l’oeil’ prints and digital embroideries manipulated to enhance the body.

SPEEDO GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR S/S 21 ➢ During my internship with Speedo, with the design team at Pentland Brands in Nottingham, specifically working on the Summer 2021 Speedo ranges. I was thrilled to be supported in taking a creative, physical design approach; using paints, marbling, photography through water and projection to create an exciting archive of material of which to bring forward into print designs. This made the process much more personal, using my creative license, I was able to input my passion for handson design to develop the graphics whilst responding to the range boards produced and approved by project managers.

GARDEN PARTY INSPIRATION BOARD ➢The inspiration for Joules Homeware prints for Spring Summer 2017 was based around the idea of British Summer garden parties. Featuring zingy pastel tones, the collection drew on inspiration from Alice In Wonderland garden games like croquet with flamingos and hedgehogs. The conversational prints inspire a playful and celebratory mood targeting towards the British family customer.

JOULES HOMEWEAR DESIGNS S/S 2017 ➢ During my placement at Joules’ Head Office, in buying and printmaking, confirmed my desire to work in surface textiles. I was able to develop my digital skills in the use of Photoshop and use of the graphics pad to refine and edit my designs driven from the same theme which featured in their Spring/Summer 2017 Homeware collection. The collection featured animals, garden games and picnic conversational prints, bursting with personality, playfulness and colour.

HAND CUT SCREEN PRINTS
TREE FROG PRINT Inspired by my three week expedition to Costa Rica in Summer 2016, trekking in the rainforest, I was inspired to create a screen print based on Emerald Glass frogs. I really enjoyed the whole screen printing process; cutting the different screens to layer and create a simple yet effective print motif which was repeated several times over
