Page 1

Our Code of the West We have some VERY exciting news to share…the education and outreach committee of the Open Lands board has decided to task themselves with putting together a guide to rural living in the Bitterroot Valley. You may have seen some samples in other areas throughout the state, most are called, “Code of the West.” Some of the core content shareholders for this magazine include: Ravalli County Government Offices Environmental health floodplain administrator road department planning department Right to Farm and Ranch Board Bitterroot Weed Board Bitterroot Water Forum Natural Resource Conversation Service Bitterroot Conservation District US Forest Service Montana Fish Wildlife Parks Land Trusts Ravalli County Extension office We’ll also have profiles of folks in the valley, historic photos, and tid-bit information throughout the magazine. For example, did you know that the town of Victor was named after the Chief “plenty of horses” Victor of the Salish tribe from 1842-1870.
