Owner Ryan Frey’s 30 years of construction experience is the backbone that holds Saddle Mountain Construction LLC in high esteem. Since 2008, the business has worked on several contemporary home construction and infill projects in Missoula and surrounding areas.

Frey’s first job in construction was during the summers of high school, apprenticing as a carpenter in rural north-central

Washington. After graduating, he began college in Spokane where he funded his education by working at the university’s maintenance plant and doing summer construction work.

After receiving a B.A. in English, Frey returned to his love of carpentry by working on a variety of residential and commercial projects in Portland and Seattle. In 1997 he joined the Peace Corps to scratch an itch for more adventure and experience. For the next two and a half years, he designed and built small water systems for villages in the South American country of Bolivia.

Returning to the states in 2000, Frey’s accumulated skills and experience helped him to earn his General Contractor license in northern California. After eight years working on custom homes and remodels, he desired to return to the climate and atmosphere of his youth. Once back north in Missoula, he found a home and founded his construction company.

Saddle Mountain Construction LLC is especially proud of their work with the Marshall Street Townhome project. This contemporary development brought 3-bedroom, 2-bath workforce housing to the Slant Streets area in Missoula.

Aspects of contemporary design include cantilever decks for outdoor living, full-face frame cabinets, and 9-foot ceilings. These elements all combine to create an urban, maintenance-free home that takes creative advantage of space and layout on a smaller infill lot.

Saddle Mountain Construction LLC utilizes experience, expert team members, and construction management software to guide construction projects from planning to completion.

In recent years, Saddle Mountain Construction LLC has received awards for the 2016 Missoula Building Industry Association’s Missoula Builder of the Year, as well as the 2018 BEAM (Builders Engaging Associate Members) award.
