Youth Entertaining Sudbury (Y.E.S.) Theatre is comprised of youth from the City of Greater Sudbury between the ages of 15-23 years. The purpose of this organization is to allow any young person the opportunity to become involved in the experience that is theatre. This company will be completely organized by youth ages 15 to 23 who will tackle all facets of theatre; this includes producing, directing, choreography, acting, lighting, sound, music, set design, costume design, makeup, etc. Its directive is to enable youth to have a professional experience without leaving the Sudbury community. It will demonstrate the exceptional talent found here in Greater Sudbury. There will be mentors and community leaders who will provide their expertise and support every step of the way, but it is understood that the youth themselves will carry any show on their own in all areas of production. This will be a way for the youth of the city to express themselves through a very powerful art form. This experience will bring young people together without borders of which school they go to, or their experience level. Each person will end the production with a sense of pride and will learn a great deal about theatre. Not just in acting, but in every aspect of the world of theatre. Youth Entertaining Sudbury (Y.E.S.) Theatre was founded by Alessandro Costantini, and is run by a Board of Directors. Y.E.S. Theatre became incorporated on June 18, 2010, and its goal is to produce an annual theatre production here in Greater Sudbury.

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
Mary a n n belo w os
a l es s a nd ro c ostantini
It is with great pride and pleasure that I write this note of thanks to everyone involved in making Hair such a great success. There are no words to express the vitality and talent that is evident on the stage, behind the stage and behind the scenes every night and throughout the last year that made it possible to make the dream of Y.E.S. come true. I would like to express my gratitude to Alessandro for inviting me to be a part of the collaboration and to all the cast and crew for demonstrating that with hard work and perseverance anything is possible. Let the sun shine in!
Over a year ago, while I was driving to Toronto with some friends, we thought of an idea to start a youth theatre company. Back then, it was something that seemed so far fetched, yet here we are today. All I wanted to do was put on a play, but of course it was never that simple. It took a lot of hard work and beautiful people to help make Y.E.S. Theatre and our first production a reality. When it came to deciding what would be our first production, HAIR was an obvious choice. What better way to start our first year than with a story about the trials and tribulations of growing up and fighting for what you believe? Who better to tell this story than the youth of Sudbury? I want to start out by thanking our stage manager April Kindrat. She was willing to jump in without really knowing the ropes and she did it with such class. I can count on her for everything, even waking me up if I

am late for work! You are a beautiful person and a great friend. I would also like to thank Daniele Muscolino, my producer and very good friend. He has always been there by my side to support and help me out whenever I need it. I wish you best of luck and much success in future endeavours, and hope that someday I will be able to return the favours. The cast of HAIR was blessed to have three of the best choreographers in town. Jennifer Natti, Tiffany Decosse and Janie Pinard, have given us such beautiful and inspirational work to perform for you all. I am honoured to have you three beautiful ladies lend us your talents and hope the tribe makes you proud. Another very special thank you goes to my close friend K.C. Rautiainen who makes us sound absolutely astonishing. You are one of the bravest and most heartwarming souls I have ever met. Thank you for your friendship and guidance all these years and for breathing life into HAIR. Of course, I cannot forget to mention how much Sean Perras has done for me and this show. You make us sound awesome every night. Through the whole process Sean was there to offer his help and to think of everything I did not. I know we will work together for a long time. Special thanks to Amy Wilson, the best mic operator I know-the best in the world! Thank you so much for your hard work, dedication and professionalism. Without Mary Ann Belowos this project would have stayed a dream of mine for quite some time. When I thought about creating this company, Mary Ann was the first person I called, and when it comes down to it, if I could not do this with her, I would not have
done it with anyone else. You are my best friend and have made such a difference in my life. I have learned so many things from you that I will never forget and always cherish. Thank you for your guidance and wisdom throughout this whole project. I would like to give a shout out to my Tribe-my beautiful tribe. We all fit together beautifully since day one. I know that what we have is magic. There is so much talent in every one of us. I love you all and want to thank you for helping my dream come true and encourage you all to never lose sight of yours. Lastly, I would like to thank my family, especially my parents. Mom and Dad, you are the most important people in my world. Thank you for all the support and for allowing me to pursue my dreams every day of my life. There just is not enough room in this letter to mention everyone who has helped make this company and production become a reality. I love you all deeply, and cannot express my gratitude enough for all your time and support through all of this. To you, the audience, I would like to thank you for coming out to support Sudbury’s youth, and for taking this journey with us. I know many of you have come out to support Y.E.S. at our various ventures in the past couple months (Canada Day at the Arena, Italian Festival, Little Montreal Cabaret), and for that I am forever grateful. I hope this show demonstrates just how much talent is brewing in the youth of Sudbury and Y.E.S. Theatre. Thank you all and enjoy the show! Peace & Love

PRODUCER’S MESSAGE d ani e l e m uscol i n o (PRODUCER) It is with great excitement that I welcome you to Y.E.S. Theatre’s production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Hair is a great fit for the first production of Y.E.S. Theatre, as the message of freedom and the spirit of youth is a parallel to the achievements of this group of young people who have started their own professional theatre company in the City of Greater Sudbury. This project, which has been created, planned and executed entirely by youth of Sudbury proves that young people play a prominent role to leave a legacy of their own in our community. It has been an absolute honour to be a part of the inaugural production of Y.E.S. Theatre. I admire the dreams of Alessandro Costantini who saw a need for young people to get involved in their community and take on a project of their own, and see it to completion with their production of Hair. The support of the community has been outstanding and I thank all of our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who has contributed in any way to the success of Hair.
The cast of Hair are a spectacular group of young adults who embody the spirit of the 60’s. It has been a pleasure to witness them bond together into a theatre family, and share their success together with the completion of Hair. Congratulations Tribe! I also thank our production team: Mary Ann Belowos, K.C. Rautiainen, Sean Perras, Shawn Oakes, and April Kindrat. All of you came together to make this amazing show happen, and Hair is a direct result of your mentorship with this project and your love for theatre. To Alessandro, my dear friend, you never cease to amaze me, and your dream of beginning a theatre company exclusively for young people has started in a way where some thought would be impossible. Because of your persistence and passion, it has become a reality. You are one of the most talented young people I know, and being part of this project with you has been an amazing experience. And finally to the audience, you are about to witness something magical, enjoy the trip! Let the sun shine in! Daniele Muscolino, Producer

PRODUCTION TEAM MESSAGES The thing April loves most about being a part of HAIR is the people with whom she works. The cast & crew are like a second family to her because they are people who believe in her & support her. April wants the cast to know that every person involved in this production has taught her something about herself. When she began working on the production, she expected it to be an exciting way to spend the summer but never expected it to be so challenging & rewarding. Y.E.S. Theatre brings youth together to create an everlasting bond & to share their talents with the community!
APR I L KIN D RAT (STAGE MANAGER) April is 17 years old and is a high school graduate moving on to post secondary education in the Fall. She fell in love with theatre while working on St. Charles College’s productions of Into the Woods and The Wedding Singer & was thrilled to have an opportunity to stage manage the first Y.E.S. Theatre production of HAIR!
April would like to thank Sean Perras & K. C. Rautiainen for being so patient & answering all her tedious questions, Mary Ann Belowos for being so reliable & offering her gentle guidance & Daniele Muscolino for always readily offering a helping hand. She could not have done it without you guys. Most of all she wants to thank Alessandro for giving her such an amazing opportunity & believing that she could be a fantastic stage manager. Alessandro was always there to help pick up the pieces when things went wrong & never stopped pushing her to do her best. April sends peace & love to the cast, crew & audience. Let’s open up our hearts & let the sunshine in!

SE AN PER R AS ( MUSICAL DIRECTOR) Sean is pleased to be involved with this well cast production, his twenty-something as musical director. Kudos to Ali for his unflagging enthusiasm for the project and of course to K.C. (the brains behind the musical operation) and Amy Wilson for their dedication to the high standard of work the audience will hear in the show.
J enni f er Natti ( Choreographer)
K .C . Raut i a i n e n ( vocal director) Unlike the cast of this production of HAIR, K.C. was actually alive in the 60’s! Although she was too young to be a hippie, she has always embraced the concept of peace & love. K.C. is thrilled to be a part of Alessandro’s dream of having a theatre for youth. This “tribe” of 14 – 22 year olds is unbelievably talented. She was humbled each & every vocal rehearsal. She could not have asked for a better group with whom to work. K.C. is so proud of Alessandro (who played the Artful Dodger when K.C. was Nancy in Theatre Cambrian’s production of OLIVER). From the moment she met Ali, she knew he would accomplish great things. Who knew he would accomplish so much by age 17! Love you! K.C. sends out huge hugs to Shawn Oakes & Kirsten Zinkie for all of their support. To her partner, Sean Perras, she is so grateful for his strength & love during this past year. To the cast & crew, K.C. has nothing but love & respect for all of you. To the audience, peace! Böle!
Jennifer has been totally inspired working with such a talented group. Watching Alessandro’s dream come true in such a short time makes her hope that her children have the same opportunity to show their talents when they are older. Thank you tribe for bringing back the 60’s. Peace Out!
T if fan y dec osse ( Choreographer) Tiffany is a 4th year student at Laurentian University studying Theatre Arts in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program. She has been teaching dance & choreography at Happiness is Dancing for 7 years. This is Tiffany’s first time choreographing for a musical & she hopes it is the first of many. She was very excited to work with the talented performers of Y.E.S. & knows that they will put on many great performances for the Sudbury public.

Tafari has been singing, performing, & writing basically all his life. This soul brother took his talents to the studios & any available mic in Toronto, eventually releasing his debut record, “Almost A Star” in March of ‘07. The record was co-produced, vocal arranged, & written entirely by the sexy black man. The oldest of the Tribe, Tafari, 22, has just finished up his post-secondaryexploitation & looks forward to continuing his journey in the world of sweet, sweet music. Much love goes out to my sexy Love & my peoples (you all know who you are). Lastly...I’ve been told turning into a giddy school girl when I sing is a normal reaction... Just saying.

He has received nifty awards of merit at SSS for his acting in the Mini Productions festival show The Poultry Endeavour in 2009, & Apocalypse at the Sudbury District Sears Drama Festival last Spring. Love goes out to his amazing teachers, supporters, family & friends, & all who made this show psychedelic & possible, especially the awesome Andrew Desabrais, because he is just that awesome! Dedication
for this show is sent to the always inspiring mamacita Kirsten Zinkie for love, guidance, & for just being amazing! “Peace & Love”
ka i l e ne s z i lva ( ronny ) Kailene is a foxy, seventeen year old Taurus that loooooves singing, acting & dancing. This is her second musical this year...
