ENTRY LEVEL PROGRAMS Our pre-apprenticeship programs provide the basic skills and knowledge needed to obtain entry level employment or to pursue an apprenticeship. High school students can jump start their career by choosing a TAFE at School course to gain a vocational qualification. Students may gain valuable credits towards apprenticeship and diploma courses as well as gaining direct entry into our diploma courses upon completion.

Students can choose to study either the treatment or network streams. In the treatment stream, students will learn the skills required to work within the treatment plant, including sampling and testing water, and operating water treatment processes.
This course will give students the practical skills and basic knowledge needed to construct and install water distribution assets, maintain and repair network assets for drinking and wastewater, and locate, identify, and protect utilities.

CERTIFICATE III IN WATER INDUSTRY TREATMENT (DRINKING WATER) NWP30315 TRAINEESHIP This course will give students the practical skills and knowledge needed to monitor, operate, and control treatment processes within a drinking water plant. Students will also develop a range of transferable knowledge and skills in workplace health and safety, risk management, and customer service.

FUNDING OPTIONS FOR APPRENTICES AND TRAINEES Free apprenticeships for under 21’s Queenslanders, up to the age of 21, may be eligible to undertake high priority apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications for free.
Free training for Year 12 graduates For high priority qualifications, the Queensland Government covers the full costs of training for eligible year 12 graduates in selected apprenticeships, traineeships and other training courses.

This course will give students a broad range of skills and knowledge needed to undertake supervisory positions and responsibilities. Students can choose to specialise studies in networks to develop the skills required to operate, construct, and maintain water and waste water networks. Alternatively completing the trade waste specialisation allows students to learn about the compliance, licencing, and regulations of trade waste management.
This course will give students a broad range of skills and knowledge needed to undertake supervisory positions and responsibilities in the water treatment industry. Develop the skills required to assess and improve desalination, treatment for pathogen removal and the sedimentation process. Our experienced staff will provide one-on-one training to ensure students succeed.

To adapt to the changing needs of industry TAFE Queensland is partnering with businesses to provide more holistic qualifications compared to traditional specialised trade qualifications. We work with businesses every step of the way from work experience, prevocational and apprenticeship programs, post-trade training, specialised skill sets and product training. Our customised client training options enable our industry trained staff to deliver capabilities and tailored solutions for specialised markets and products. GET EXISTING SKILLS RECOGNISED Students and apprentices who have already completed prior study or have significant work experience can apply for credit transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This saves time and money and enables students and apprentices to get qualified sooner. RPL is the process of matching skills and knowledge against an industry qualification.
