WHO WE ARE
At TAFE Queensland, we value learning journeys and know they are not all created equal. That is why we have established the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation.
The Foundation, a registered charity created on 25th September 2020, is a philanthropic initiative that enables government, industry and individuals to make contributions that have a far-reaching impact on students all over Queensland and beyond.
While we have a proud history ranging back to 1882, our earliest recorded award was in 1911, when we were known as the Queensland Technical College. An amount of £100, equivalent to $14,321 in todays terms, was awarded to the Apprentice of the Year, who was employed at Mount Morgan Mine and attended trade training at the Rockhampton campus.
The awarding of scholarships is part of our commitment to helping people change their lives and unlock their future potential, passion and purpose through applied learning, emerging technologies and new skills development.
The TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation Trust (ABN 15 697 577 363) is a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement. With the contributions from generous donors, we can help students achieve their goals and ambitions by giving them practical support in the form of financial assistance.
Your contribution has the potential for far-reaching impacts on society beyond the student journey.
SUPPORT AND CONTRIBUTE
TAFE Queensland and the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation are on a mission to give individuals the opportunity to learn and achieve their career goals. We will do this by securing funds and donations for distribution through scholarships and bursaries. SCAN TO SEE LEIGH’S STORY
POTENTIAL
Watching his mother make countless sacrifices made Leigh, an Indigenous student from the Wadjigan Tribe, more determined than ever to repay her efforts through academic success and hard work.
As his passion for sound production grew in his final years of school and he won awards for his dedication and strong work ethic, he enrolled to study for the Diploma of Music (Sound Production) (CUA50820).
“Applying for the scholarship was easy, and when I opened the email telling me I’d won one, I was so relieved. It’s a significant amount of money, and it helped me pay rent and buy equipment for my studies,” said Leigh.
He’s now on track to fulfil his career goals and continue repaying his mother by forging a stable career within the audio and visual industry by studying his passion at TAFE Queensland’s South Bank campus.
