MOMENT: Dinner on the Great Wall of China, organized by the fantastic team at The Peninsula Beijing. The dinner, the attendees, the incredible history around us, the magnificent sunset, and the uniqueness of having such a historic place all to ourselves, made a truly magical Peninsula Moment.
CURRENT OBSESSION: Vintage tableware. There’s nothing like dressing up a table with pieces from the past: vintage dinner service, crystal glasses, silverware—always a new piece to find along my travels. Like in Peninsula restaurants, the attention given to setting a table is the first step to a good evening. I think I got that from my father. NEVER THOUGHT I’D: Relocate to Asia. The fantastic opportunity to join The Peninsula Hotels headquarters took my family and I to Hong Kong in 2019. We fell in love with this vibrant city right away, a great combination of urban and outdoor life (there are more than 250 islands in Hong Kong, a paradise for hikers and water lovers), a crossroad of so many influences and nationalities—an ultra-creative city.
WOULD MOST LIKE TO DINE WITH: My extended family and friends, as the combination of living abroad and the pandemic make these moments rare and extremely desirable.
WISH LIST TRIP: Istanbul, Turkey. We are preparing for the opening of The Peninsula Istanbul in early 2023, which will provide me plenty of opportunities to go and explore this fascinating city. The location of the property will be perfect for that, as it’s within walking distance to the Galata Tower and facing the Golden Horn. I just can’t wait. Istanbul is such a great starting point to then go and further explore Cappadocia, Ephesus, the South Aegean Coastline, and more. So many wonders to discover.
WHEN I’M NOT WORKING YOU’LL FIND
ME: In the South of France, either on the West Coast in Arcachon Bay, where I used to spend my summer as a child. I also love the Luberon at the beginning of the Provencal Alps, where the night skies are so clear that you can gaze at the Milky Way. Or St. Tropez, but not the expected St. Tropez. Rather, off-the-beaten paths where the locals reside.
