LOCATION & TRAVEL

NORTHWESTERN ARGENTINA BY THE BORDERS OF TUCUMAN, CATAMARCA, AND SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO PROVINCES Hunters from North America travel overnight to Buenos Aires (EZE), transfer to the domestic airport (AEP) for a connecting two-hour flight to one of four conveniently located airports with Aerolineas Argentina or Lan Airlines. From the airport, hunters are transported approximately an hour to hour and a half to the lodge and straight to the field for the first afternoon shoot. Most travelers elect to spend at least one night in Buenos Aires on the front end. Our concierge service and travel agents in Buenos Aires will assist with guns, ground transfers, tours, hotel reservations, and domestic airfare with the local airlines. +

THE

DESTINATION

Argentina Doves Unlimited (ADU) offers the world’s preeminent dove hunting experience – also offering diverse mixed bag hunts in the beautiful and untapped region of Northwestern Argentina. Argentina is known as the best wing-shooting destination in the world, and doves are the signature species. The province of Cordoba is synonymous with dove hunting and is considered by many to be the best dove-hunting destination – NOT ANYMORE! Over the past several decades, farmers have been developing millions of acres of new agricultural land in the northwest of the country, and new colonies of eared doves are exploding in population – with multiple

roosts of over 10 million birds each. Imagine shooting limitless doves with the backdrop of the spectacular Andes Mountains – and the option to hunt coveted wild pigeons, exciting perdiz, and even ducks – from one conveniently located lodge! NORTHWEST ARGENTINA ADU’s lodge and hunting area is located in the area made by the borders of Tucuman, Catamarca, and Santiago del Estero provinces in the northwest part of Argentina about two hundred miles northwest of Cordoba. Moreover, due to the variable terrain in the NOA region – from mountains to jungle to desert – the area supports much more than just doves. ADU is ideally positioned and licensed to outfit the ultimate custom wingshooting adventure in this new frontier. PERDIZ OVER BIRD DOGS Three species of Perdiz can be hunted in the area from May 15th until August 1st to “supplement” the other species hunted. Hunters can expect to shoot 5 to 7 perdiz per day (with 7 being the countrywide limit) over well-trained pointers and setters. The perdiz is the ultimate in flushing birds and offers serious and exciting action for those that enjoy walking and watching dogs work. Because perdiz do not covey, normally singles are found, flushes are thrilling, and unlike many other flushing birds, perdiz flush in any and every direction and fly in an erratic pattern. They are hard to get a bead on and challenge even for the most seasoned hunter. This is a program for those that like to get out and walk and enjoy working with dogs. Hunters must be physically fit and able to walk at least one and up to two miles on flat terrain. When the program is fully ready, we will be offering it daily along with doves and pigeons. At the moment, it is offered as an “exploratory” to those guests that want to take a break from the hot barreled action ADU provides on a daily basis.

DUCKS Waterfowl can be hunted in the area from May 15th until August 1th. Ducks are hunted over decoys in the early morning in and around lagoons and a large reservoir in the area. Hunters need to be in their blinds well before first light and have a well-placed spread of decoys. Eight species of ducks, mostly teal, pintails, and whistling ducks can be bagged in a morning. It is important to note that the drive to the duck hunting area is about an hour to one and a half hours from the lodge but well worth the drive to enjoy an incredible sunrise and exciting waterfowl hunting! Limits on ducks are strict and guests are typically allowed 25 ducks per day. Actual numbers are subject to local regulations based on quantity of ducks per season but traditionally 25 birds is the allowed limit.

SHOTGUNS & SHOTSHELLS ADU shoots exclusively RD shells manufactured locally in Tucuman. In years past, local shells were of poor quality and the powder was “dirty. Not anymore! JULY - OCTOBER The harvest is nearing the end, and the dove population is absolutely at it’s highest. Flight patterns become incredibly predictable and shooting is consistent. Doves leave the roost about the same time in the morning and return about the same time every afternoon. Mid-way on their flight path, ADU and their guests are waiting for them. Hunts take place in-between fields where they feed and temporary roosts and in-between where the feed and water. As flights of doves pass by, hunters can choose their shots and “practice” one kind or different kinds of shots. Guests experience non-stop flights throughout each session and find this type of shooting to be incredibly sporting and challenging shooting. Have you ever caught a dorado? You might consider booking a cast and blast trip this time of the year in Sept. and Oct. and enjoy fly fishing for dorado and the world’s best wing shooting in the same trip.

ADU does not offer in-house dorado fishing because in our experience, it is impossible to offer the best shooting and fishing from one location as birds and fish are hard to find in the exact same regions. One might find exceptional shooting and poor fishing or vice versa, but rarely can one find the best of both worlds in one place. 4 night/day dorado trips are $2,600. Contact us for all the details.
