You were among a record 47,033 visitors at the six-day show that included 7,130 oversea buyers; with the latter group growing 8.3% on the last show. TIMTOS hosted a record 1,015 exhibitors from 18 countries who used 5,411 booths to position it among Asia’s top two machine tool expos. TIMTOS is organized by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) with the mission to proﬁle the products and trends behind the industry. n the afternoon of the opening day, 3 March 2015, about 171 trade meetings were held to link foreign buyers with producers. You could hear and feel the buzz of anticipation that surrounded Room 402a at the Nangang Exhibition Hall.

his is my third time to visit TIMTOS. I am looking for new machine tool concepts and new suppliers that I can bring back to Ukraine, and maybe also learn more information, as well. I’m with my biggest customer who makes gas turbines. This customer sold about six Taiwan machines in four years. I have already found a lot of manufacturers in the past and have brought their machines and tools back home. Taiwan is very far but I still choose to come here because of the quality of the products they offer. It’s amazing that for a small island like Taiwan they have small shops and big factories. I am sure that I can ﬁnd a few more potential suppliers after attending TIMTOS business matching meetings.

have visited Taiwan in the past years even before I came to this company. I have found a lot of quality machine tool components and equipment made from Taiwan. This time, I’m looking for new suppliers, new designs, and new materials. Also, I want to get in touch with HIWIN. Taiwan manufacturers are very successful in their business and they have a very good reputation in the world. Since I am also looking for someone I can trust. I know it is a long way from here to Turkey but everything is easy to transport now. I would like to help improve our business by with the help of Taiwanese products. TIMTOS is a specialised trade fair with a good concentration of machine tool equipment and component suppliers, which makes our sourcing easier. I plan to explore and cooperate with new suppliers in the next days to come.

TIMTOS 2015 Successfully Closed Foreign Buyers UP! Orders UP!

uccess was in the air when TIMTOS wrapped up on March 8th with a full slate of records. This 6-day event, also called the 2015 Taipei International Machine Tool Show, attracted 7,130 foreign buyers, an increase of 8.3% on the previous show in 2013. But the briskness of tangible orders is the big story. This expo with followup business is projected to top US$2.1 billion. The prime drivers of these orders were the Procurement Meetings that generated US$35 million. They were led by 29 elite buyers from 18 countries, including China, India, Turkey and Russia who conducted 171 negotiations with 73 Taiwan suppliers. “On day one we raised the show sales target to NT$200 Million from NT$100 Million, stated Dr. CHU CHIHYAUNG, Chairman of Fair Friend Group. “Hot items included a RMB120 Million order for an automatic production line for engine cylinder heads from a Chinese automobile factory and a US$4.5million order from MMT Engineering, one of the largest machine tool agents in the USA.” The number of buyers who placed orders on the spot greatly surpassed

the number in the previous exhibition and new customers also increased, stated Mr. Andy Hung, sales Manager who is also at Fair Friend. “Buyers came from more than 30 countries, including North and South America, India, Turkey, the Middle East, South Africa, North Africa, U.K., France, Germany and Russia; there were many enquiries from these buyers.” This once-every second year TIMTOS hosted 1,015 exhibitors to use 5,411 booths that included 260 foreign manufacturers from 18 countries. In addition, the organizers, TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) joined resources during the year to attract the best buyers.

Global procurement hub for machine tools! The top 10 buying countries by order volume ranked as China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, India, Thailand, the USA, Russia, Turkey and Singapore. Among the exhibitors, Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TIAD) of Turkey led 23 of its enterprises to the exhibition for

visits and procurements, and signed a memorandum of cooperation with Taiwan External Trade Development Council. Taiwan's machine tool industry has been warming up year for years by honing its skills in automated tools and that new capacity that has made it become a viable supplier, particularly in the fields of aerospace, medicine and transportation. That upbeat message also came across from General Manager Tim Chang of Kao Ming Machinery Industrial who said they are in promising talks with key makers in the USA and Holland. T I M TO S e v e n s a w t w o m a j o r machine tool shows organizing their own “shows within shows” international conferences. Such on-site events helped the world's largest machine tool exhibition, the European Machine Tool Exhibition (EMO Milan), and Asia’s elite Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF) to connect global industry to promote their own exhibitions. The next "T aipei International Machine Tool Show" turns on March 7 to 12, 2017, and is expected to scale new peaks to deliver huge prospects across the trade.

TIMTOS Press Conference emphasizes smart technology

here has been a lot of news about TIMTOS over the past months or so from both local and international media. Twenty-three media companies from 16 countries gathered for TIMTOS 2015 Press Conference at Meeting Room 403, Level 4 at the Nangang Exhibition Center. Given the number of journalists who came, it was somewhat assured that the increase expresses the continued commitment and possibly a positive economic optimism of Taiwan’s machine tools industry community. To get things started, Mr John Hsu, Chairman of Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), gave the first message. “TIMTOS is expected to bring in US$2.1 billion worth of business opportunities. It is also expected to boost the revenue of several machine tools and machine parts manufacturers to exceed NT$10 billion (US$317 million), such as Victor Taichung, Fair Friend Group, Tongtai Group, Goodway Machine Corp., and Hiwin Technologies Corporation. It is estimated that the annual export value of machinery industry will grow from 8% to 10%, and possibly reach a record high. By the end of the year, the machinery industry should be able to achieve the goal of becoming one of the three major industries in Taiwan worth over NT$1 trillion (US$3.17 billion). Mr. Yih Jyh KANG Executive Director of Exhibition Department Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), explained, “TIMTOS 2015 marks the debut of many automated products. For example, the mechanical power press maker CHIN FONG has launched its automated automotive sheet metal production line, which can boost the efficiency of laser welded molding plate and sheet output by over 30%. Another example is FATEK, of FEMCO Group, who has developed two types of fully automated aluminum wheel production lines.” According Mr. KANG, another highlight of TIMTOS 2015 is the Taiwan Controller Appliance Pavilion, which is exhibited on the fourth ﬂoor of the Nangang Exhibition Hall. It features three Taiwanese controller makers (SYNTEC Technology, Delta and Advantech-LNC) and 6 machine tool manufacturers (Goodway, Tongtai, Yang Iron, Manford, Chevalier and Chiah Chyun), who are showcasing the applications of Taiwanese CNC machine tools, such as cell phone case processing and dental implant processing. Mr. Alan LU, Chairman of Machine Tool Committee, TAMI talked about Industry 4.0. “Many are discussing the technology trend triggered by “Industry 4.0” nowadays. In fact, there were many “smart machines” with built-in software and connectivity displayed at the IMTS 2014 in the U.S. and JIMTOF in Japan already. Taiwanese makers have the IT advantages to keep up with the specification of smart machines and peripherals. The key, however, lies in the data openness of major controller makers.”

Machine part makers, on the other hand, can try to design products according to user needs. Taiwanese machine part makers work with manufacturers around the world. We improve ourselves by working with countries with advanced technology, and we can share what we have learned with our Taiwanese partners to enhance the quality of Taiwanese machine tools.” Lastly, all eyes of the machine tool world are on TIMTOS 2015, Asia’s top machine tool event that connects the makers, products, and buyers for massive business opportunities. This is a place where smart technology meets a global marker and where innovation spell success.

he machine is designed for compartment temperature and has the constant temperature control function for enclosed machine space and machining tank. When there is within ±2° C between the environment and the machine, the temperature control can be set within ±0.3 ° C for machining liquid and ±0.5 ° C for machine body to avoid the machine deformation affecting the machining accuracy. Drop front door adapting the composite anti-dust devise of wire cut EDM is for loading and unloading a work-piece more easily, and it take less space than a swinging out door. Using the lower head heightened device effectively reduces the failure rate of wire threading and improves machining speed to meet the accuracy requirement.
