Taipei International Machine Tool Show Dear Visitor, Thank you for joining us at the 24th TIMTOS from March 5th to 10th, 2013. I do hope your visit to Taiwan this time will bring you excellent opportunities and profitable business deals as well. TIMTOS hosted a record 1,009 exhibitors from 17 countries who used 5,372 booths during its six-day show. It now ranks among the top two machine tool events in Asia. Over the five days we welcomed 6,583 overseas buyers (a 29.8% increase on the previous event) and 40,189 domestic visitors. TIMTOS is organized by TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and TAMI (Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry) and successfully profiled the products and innovators behind the industry. Most important, we feel this show opened even greater insight, especially with the participation of people like you. We cordially invite you to visit MT duo (the Taipei Manufacturing Technology Show) May 8th-11th 2014 - and TIMTOS 2015 (March 3rd – 8th); which are both outstanding events to connect, discover and get inspired. I went here to find other options. European machines can be very expensive. Taiwanese machines could be cheaper but with the same high quality.
I came here to look for machines that I will import back to Italy and sell to end-users. I’ve been to the booth of Campro. I think Campro machines adhere to the CE regulations. Taiwanese machine tools are of very high quality.
I am pleased with the wide variety of products on display and I find them to be the solutions that I am looking for. Before coming to the exhibition, I did some researching online about the exhibitors and the products.

I came to TIMTOS looking for CNC dies. Taiwan has very good value for money. I also came to look for new ideas to complement the CNC milling machines, which we have already imported from Taiwan. This country is remarkable, and opportunities arise all the time.
I am leading a team of buyers from Xiamen to TIMTOS 2013 to source for machines. Many Xiamen manufacturers are using Taiwanese machines. Besides sourcing, we also met with relevant associations in Taiwan for factory visits.

TIMTOS spurs fresh leaps in machining
T
he six-day TIMTOS 2013 at the Exhibition Hall 1, 2, 3 of Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) and the NANGANG Exhibition Center wrapped up March 10 as the sector’s largest trade show in Taiwan’s history. This event created show history by once again forging fresh records. It hosted 1,009 exhibitors from home and abroad to use 5,372 booths. They attracted 6,583 visitor buyers from 94 countries, a 29.8% increase on the last turnout. The number of domestic visitors also rose 12.4%, to 4,0189. TIMTOS (The Taipei International Machine Tool Show) is jointly organised by the TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and TAMI (the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry.
Global procurement hub for machinery The top 10 buying countries by purchase order volume ranked as PR China, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, India, the USA, Turkey, Singapore and Indonesia. More than three out of ten buyers at the show had travelled from abroad. Buyer-nation, by attendance, was the PR China, India, Turkey, Russia, Indonesia and Vietnam – the very market targets listed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs for its 2013 marketing campaigns. The above underscores the vital role of TIMTOS as a key sourcing hub for top buyers and as an important channel through which newly industrialised countries can place orders.
TIMTOS wins strong press coverage More than 250 journalists from 14 covered every facet of this event from the international press conference, across the show floor, at feature events and at the wrap-up. Giancarlo Giannangeli, reporting for the Italian magazine Technologie Meccaniche, said: “This is my first time visiting TIMTOS. From what I’ve seen here I highly recommend TIMTOS for its vast selection exhibitors and products,” David Wiggins, who writes for UK’s Machinery Market, stated “The British machinery industry recognises the quality of the Taiwan machine tools, which are very competitive in terms of both technology innovation and price value.”
1-on-1 Procurement Meetings generate US$30M in business For many the climax was the 226 One-on-One Procurement Meetings on the first show day that connected 55 procurement firms with top suppliers. Business was brisk and buzzing! To make it click TAITRA had mobilized its 57 overseas trade offices six months in advance to identify and invite key buyers. This field work paid off big with leading buyers visiting from Germany, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Canada,

Positive results posted by optimistic exhibitors Most of the exhibitors remain optimistic about this year’s prospect and posted good results in spite of the wheezy global economy. At Tso Wele Group, the deputy section manager Tsou said: “We had smooth sailing in the show and expect to win orders for 20 units of our machines.” A sales manager for Yang Iron Precision who joined the last 3 consecutive shows confirmed orders worth millions of US Dollar. Meanwhile Kuo C h e n g - K o , To n g t a i Machine’s assistant manager, stated: “We have fielded many inquiries from potential buyers and more onsite purchases were made than last one.” And Wang Fang-Chi, Chin Fong’s associate general manager, said: “In the span of six days we had about 150 inquiries from buyers who came from Russia, Turkey, Thailand, the Middle East, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brazil. It is expected that we can leave with orders worth 100 million NTD.” F.C. Wang, Gentiger’s vice president, observed that this year had seen many more international buyers, mainly from Spain, Korea and Brazil. He was rather surprised to see potential European buyers from France, Russia and Ukraine coming to his booths. And Hardinge’s Engineer CEO, Jeff Ervay, gave his statement: “This year we had inquiring buyers from Europe, North America, Southeast Asia and China. We expect to sell 20 units of machine tool in the six-day show.” Other leading domestic companies such as Fair Friend, Far East Machinery and Roundtop all posted promising results. Nine out of ten exhibitors give glowing reviews on this year’s show for joining the dream dealers, agents and customers.
Awards for excellence in research & innovation An inspiring moment at the show came with the annual Taiwan Machine Tool Foundation-sponsored Awards for Excellence in Research and Innovation. The Supreme Excellent Prize was awarded to Wele’s “MT-16, Bridge Type Multi-Milling-Turning Machining Center”. This is a super honour for Wele since it has won two previous awards for Supreme Excellent. Don’t miss the next TIMTOS when it returns March 3rd to 8th 2015. he prospect of gaining a better handle on supply/demand shifts is compelling in any business climate. A good procurement strategy has to be at the heart of a good trade meeting program. The Procurement Meeting organized by TIMTOS proved to be an intimate and hands-on event which aims to get to the core of supplier management issues and developments today. TIMTOS is looking at more ways to set up a collaborative environment, connect with suppliers to get inventory visibility, and facilitate suppliers. They are always inquiring about different types of machines that they need. And if I have the chance to go to a show like this, I write myself a list of the types of things they want and then I go to the show and see if I can find it. In Western Canada, our customers are particular about the price of the machines.

Multi-Function Grinding Machine
I
n a n e ff o r t t o c o m b a t p r e c i s i o n a n d t i m e i s s u e s encountered in a single spindle design of conventional grinding machines, Hurise developed a new CNC MultiFunction Internal/ External Grinding Machine. The machine is designed with double grinding spindles and is equipped with Fanuc CNC control. Hence, users can achieve higher concentric accuracy in one step by the machine. Not only internal and external diameter can be grinded, but also faces, tapers, and reverse tapers. The maximal grinding faces of the machine is 16. Further, designers of D1 eliminates disadvantages of two-axes design by adopting uni-axial movement, so each spindle can only move along on one axis. This reduces vibration in a huge gauge. Moreover, the extension of Z and Y axes broaden the range of processing. The quality of visitors in this year’s exhibition have increased compared to TIMTOS 2011, at the same time we expect positive visitor inquiries.
