台灣永續能源研究基金會於今 (2017) 年辦理第七屆氣候變遷 繪畫創作比賽，希望藉由本活動，讓全國國中及國小四至六年級 的學生透過繪畫創作，以饒富創意的色彩表達心中對氣候變遷及 能源相關議題的關心。今年配合聯合國永續旅遊發展國際年主題， 以「綠色冒險王：一起去旅行！」為題，推廣永續旅遊觀念，期 使一般社會大眾欣賞不同文化的內在價值，並強化對保護環境、 改善生活品質等意識，透過競賽積極性的激勵作用，帶領學生思 考自身在生活或旅行中可致力的節能減碳與環境保護作為。 本屆繪畫比賽共計有來自全國 21 個縣市，518 所學校，共 2360 位學生報名參加，從中脫穎而出實屬不易。感謝臺灣師範大 學設計學系楊恩生教授、國家文化藝術基金會林曼麗董事長、臺 灣藝術大學許文融教授、臺灣科技大學化學工程系顧洋講座教授、 臺北大學自然資源與環境管理研究所李育明特聘教授等學者專家 分任藝術技巧類與環境意涵類之評審，也非常感謝所有合作單位 的協助，共同攜手為臺灣的環境永續及未 來發展而努力。
The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) has held the 7th Annual 2017 Climate Change Painting Competition this year, in the hope of allowing fourth graders to sixth graders in elementary and junior high to express creativity through painting as a means of expressing their concern for climate change and energy issues. This year in conjunction with the UN Year of Sustainable International Tourism Development, our theme is “Go Green! My Wilderness Travel Adventure!”. Through the activity we aim to promote sustainable tourism concepts, allowing the public to appreciate diverse cultural values and enhance environmental protection awareness and quality of life improvement. The Competition is a perfect channel to encourage students to think about their lifestyles or how to reduce their carbon footprint during travel and improve their environmental protection activities. This 7th Annual Competition enjoyed participation from throughout Taiwan with 21 cities and counties, 518 schools, and 2,360 participants, making it quite difficult to select the winners. We express our deepest appreciation to National Taiwan Normal University Department of Design Prof. Anderson Yang, National Culture and Arts Foundation Director Mun-Lee Lin, Taiwan University of the Arts Professor Ben Wen-Jung Hsu, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Department of Chemical Engineering, Adjunct Professor Young Ku, and Prof. Yuh-Ming Lee of the Institute of Natural Resource Management, National Taipei University, among the expert judges who evaluated the entries for their artistic technique and environmental significance and consciousness. We also express our gratitude to all the organizations who co-sponsored this event, working hand in hand to promote Taiwan’s environmental sustainability and future development.

As a return Judge, it is always a special honor to participate and express once again my deep appreciation for the long term dedication of Chairman Dr. Eugene Chien, for his involvement in spreading care and concern for environmental protection and education. “Environmental Protection through the Arts” has proven a highly successful path and endeavor for our junior high and elementary school student cohorts to engage in thematic painting, representing perhaps the most outstanding and comprehensive vanguard painting competition among not only all of Taiwan’s localities but even at the central government level. As our students and their teachers, and we as Judges, have been raised in the strict learning environment of pressure and stress from the test and elite school culture, it is particularly pleasing to see how this competition serves as a platform that equalizes and evinces “Soft Power”, publicizing the truth that we only have this one planet to share, and we also all share our beloved one Taiwan.

在今年全國各地參賽的作品中，看到學生們發揮了美感與想 像力，將自身對環保議題的思考與理解化為視覺意象，進行創作。 特別是今年的「低碳旅行」主題，與生活貼近，讓學生更容易發 揮，作品相較以往更顯得繽紛活潑。 今年海報說明形式的作品已減少，表現趨向多元化，質量俱 豐，參賽者認真熱情的創作態度亦值得肯定。 更希望藉由比賽，讓學生更加認識低碳旅行的各種可能，在 透過旅遊接觸自然與人文的同時，也了解降低碳排放量是對環境 更友善的永續旅遊方式，將個人生命經驗與創作結合，透過藝術 關懷我們的周遭環境。
In this year ’s works from throughout Taiwan, the students expressively engaged their aesthetic sense, environmental protection sensitivities and understanding as expressed highly creatively. This year’s theme of “Low Carbon Tourism and Travel” was well-chosen and relates closely to their lives, allowing the students to be easily inspired, so we can say that the quality of the competition significantly advanced. This year the entries which resembled posters less than paintings, were far fewer in number, and the painting styles were highly varied and distinct, and of high quality, indicating the depth of conviction that the participants placed in their creative inspiration, which we must surely appreciate and acknowledge. I also hope that through the Competition, the students can gain greater cognition of the great variety of low carbon travel, and how such eco-travel can enable their interaction with nature and the humanities, to express understanding of how low carbon emissions can help us enjoy a better, environmentally friendly sustainable tourism, and many of the participants expressed their personal life examples in their works, allowing the paintings to express how we can embrace the arts to show our care and concern for our environment. 7

本人係第二次擔任評審委員，主要就環境保護專業協助檢視 繪畫創作之科學內涵。本年度設定「綠色冒險王：一起去旅行！」 為主題，歸納參賽作品之創作題材，其主題大都環繞環境保護與 氣候變遷衝擊等主軸，有極大比例作品是以步行、自行車、大眾 運輸等低碳運具，呈現「綠色運輸」之概念，再輔以綠樹森林、 鄉村風貌、或自然風光等場景，具體表現綠色冒險與旅行的內涵。 其中更有轉以其他動物為主體的冒險旅行意境，表現極具創意亦 深含寓意。然而，就環境保護之科學基礎觀之，部分作品出現不 甚妥適之呈現內容，例如，混雜溫室氣體排放與細懸浮微粒污染 議題、觸及核能議題造成主題失焦等。此外，部分作品摻入諸多 文字，造成圖文混雜不易表現畫作美感之缺憾，建議應極力避免 之。

This year was a privilege to serve as a Judge for the second time, deploying my environmental protection expertise to evaluate the paintings’ scientific significance. This year’s theme was“Green Adventure: Let’s Travel and Explore Together!”, and many of the works focused on environmental protection and climate change, with a large number exploring walking, bicycling, and public transportation as means of reducing carbon emissions, thereby explaining the significance of green adventure and travel. Some works relied on animals as characters for imaginative exploration, with much creativity. Also, as for the scientific basis of environmental protection, some works lacked a solid understanding, for example by mixing up the concepts of greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from fine suspended particulate contamination, and works also misdirected focus on nuclear energy issues. Moreover, some paintings included much text, making judging the painting’s artistic qualities difficult, so this should be avoided in the future.

第一次參與此繪畫比賽的評審工作，雖不同於參加其他成人專業繪 畫比賽的評審，但看到來自各地國中、小學的臺灣幼苗對於自身生長環 境的重視與關懷，讓我對臺灣未來的生態與人民的素質充滿了信心。 從整體的參賽作品看出臺灣的小朋友充滿了創意的想像。此次參賽 作品表現主題大部份都是以旅遊休閒最多，其次是環境維護；另有特殊 創意發想的諸多作品 ; 真可謂豐富多彩，讓我們可以看到並期待臺灣未 來必能成為一個創意之島。
This is my premiere experience as a Judge for this Competition, and while this event is different from judging professional artists works, I can tell that the junior high and elementary school students from across Taiwan proudly represent our future with a deep sense of responsibility and care for their living environment, which gives me much hope for the future of Taiwan in terms of our ecology and the quality of our people. From the overall quality of the works in the competition one can easily see that the children of Taiwan possess rich and robust imaginative creativity. This competition’s painting works emphasized the theme of travel and recreation, followed by environmental protection; there were many works replete with unique inspirational qualities; thus, the panoply of works can indeed be said to be rich and varied, giving us a vision and hope for Taiwan’s future as an island blessed with creative imagination.

「2017 氣候變遷國中小繪畫創作比賽」的活動主題為「綠色 冒險王，一起去旅行」，很榮幸有機會再次受邀擔任評審，能夠 欣賞這麼多有趣的參賽創作，真是非常的開心。這次比賽的主題 鼓勵學生藉由旅行發想，開始關切環境保育以及節能減碳之議題， 再將其想法轉化為繪畫創作。這次全國各縣市國中小學學生參賽 創作的水準相當整齊，尤其是畫面色彩特別豐富炫麗，可以具體 展現他們出天真浪漫、甚至於是天馬行空的創意，及熱情洋溢、 真誠率性的情懷。恭喜所有的得獎同學，也期盼未得獎同學能再 接再厲，大家未來都能有更好的繪畫創作。

The theme of 2017 The 7th Climate Change Painting Competition was“Go Green! My Wilderness Travel Adventure!”, and it was once again my privilege to serve as a Judge. It was a delight to see so many outstanding and inspiring works. This year’s theme obviously inspired the children to take inspiration from travel to express concern for environmental protection, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction issues. These issues were then transformed into their excellent paintings. The quality of the entries from across Taiwan’s junior high and elementary schools was prodigious and quite outstanding, with profuse use of inspiring color palettes, reflecting their natural optimism and naturalism, with robust creativity, warm-hearted, and reflecting spirited concern. The winning entries are to be especially recognized and congratulated, while those who entered should also be encouraged for their effort and talent, and I am certain their future entries will be even more superlative.

In response to the 422 World Earth Day, Ever Rich Duty Free Shop specially set 2016 Art Festival theme at the Airport as ‘LOVE LAND,’ and is exhibited respectively in Taoyuan, Taichung, Kaohsiung and other international airports to convey the approach to life of respecting nature, where creations and designs are used to tell the story of nature. The theme at Taoyuan international Airport is “Environmental Regeneration Art,” so that the concepts of cherishing, love for things, waste reduction, and creativity are assimilated into daily life and so that the concepts of education of environmental regeneration of resources and creative environmental art can be conveyed to the hearts of every viewer.

Since youth, I enjoyed the story of the City Mouse and the Country Mouse, which inspired me to paint a City Polar Bear, who decides to invite a Country Brown Bear to visit, and the brown bear thought it sounded fun, but he hadn’t imagined he saw his friend smoking a cigarette, causing second hand smoke which the Polar Bear disdained, so he raised his head and saw how all the skyscrapers and high-rises were coated in layers of gray from factory smoke stacks, then he recalled the countryside beauty and the simple life… and he could not help but cry! 25

The rich biodiversity of the Amazon is well-known, so we decided to invite endangered species as Ambassadors against pollution, with brown bear, penguins, black-faced spoonbill and Polar Bears for a trip. We used recycled bottles for a boat and went to the Amazon because it is the lungs of the earth. We were sure to enjoy the unique rainforest biodiversity and gain better appreciation of nature! The rain and sound of monkeys awoke us so we enjoyed every second together.
