Marvin Gaye 'What's Going On Live' Newly Mixed For Its First Standalone Release May 1, 1972 was a whirlwind day of celebration in Marvin Gaye's hometown of Washington, D.C. Designated "Marvin Gaye Day," it began with Gaye giving a speech to students at Cardozo High, the school he'd attended, before he and his parents were ushered by motorcade to other points around the city. They visited the office of D.C.'s mayor, Walter Washington, who presented Gaye with a key to the city. A VIP reception followed at the U.S. House of Representatives' Rayburn House Office Building, before the evening's hotly anticipated main event at the Kennedy Center: Marvin Gaye's first live performance in four years. After opening acts and onstage testimonials by others, Gaye finally took the stage at around 11pm. Marvin Gaye ‘What’s Going On Live’ is newly mixed for its first standalone release by Motown/UMe in 2LP black vinyl, 2LP color vinyl, CD, and digital editions. The legendary concert – Marvin Gaye's only live performance of his iconic 1971 What's Going On album in full – was recorded. After being shelved for decades, the recording was eventually released on CD in 2001 within Motown/UMe's expanded deluxe edition for Gaye's What's Going On album. Never before issued on vinyl or as a standalone CD, What's Going On Live is newly mixed by John Morales at M+M Mix Studios and mastered by Alex Abrash at AA Mastering for its October 18 release by Motown/UMe. The album is making its vinyl debut in black 2LP and limited turquoise 2LP editions with deluxe gatefold packaging, in addition to CD and standard digital, ADM (Apple Digital Masters), and 96kHz/24-bit HD digital audio editions. The vinyl and CD packages include rare photos from Gaye's performance and new liner notes by Marvin Gaye biographer David Ritz.
What's Going On Live includes the only known live recordings of Gaye performing four songs: "That's The Way Love Is" and "You," which he opened the D.C. concert with as part of a meditative 13-minute medley; "Right On;" and "Wholy Holy." Due to an unfortunate lag in switching the first reelto-reel tape to a second one during the concert, Gaye's performance of "Mercy Mercy Me" from the What's Going On album was not successfully recorded. "Wholy Holy" is available now for streaming and for immediate download with album preorder. Preorder What's Going On Live: https://UMe.lnk.to/ WhatsGoingOnLive Gaye did not tour in 1972, and he had not toured in years prior, following the collapse and subsequent tragic death of his singing partner Tammi Terrell. While he was on top of the world with the massive success of What's Going On, he much preferred the studio to live performance, suffering from acute stage fright throughout his career. That year, his only live shows were the D.C. concert and one other, a brief set in Chicago on September 27, which was filmed and recorded for the Save the Children documentary film. Years later, Gaye reflected on his "Marvin Gaye Day" experience in Washington, D.C., telling David Ritz, "I understood that I'd been punishing myself by staying away so long. I'd been denying myself love, and that's one of the most foolish things a man can do. It was certainly the biggest day of my parents' life. Here they came to Washington in the thirties without a penny, and their son was being honoured by the mayor as some sort of hero. At least on this one day I felt like I made Father proud."
Experience the King Like Never Before With 'Elvis Unleashed,' Elvis Presley returns to big screens across the globe this fall with the new music special, "Elvis Unleashed," featuring previously unseen footage on movie theater screens of Elvis as he filmed the iconic "68 Comeback Special." Les McKeown's Legendary Bay City Rollers by Keith Nicol
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 SPAIN, VILLAMARTIN PLAZA, ORIHUELA COSTA. Bay City Rollers: A Touch of History As a teenager I had the opportunity to watch the Bay City Rollers perform twice in my hometown of Bangor, Co. Down. Two summers ago, I saw Les back at his best at a free concert in Donaghadee so I can confirm that his BCR do put on a great show that will have you singing and clapping along, if you go and see him this month. For those fifty and sixty somethings, and their kids and grandkids, it's time to roll back the years and dig out the Tartan as Orihuela Costa's VillaMartin Plaza will be Rocking to the sound of the music, when Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers hit the stage, for one night only, on September 25th, 2019. He is presently on a full UK and Irish tour and playing just this one special date in Spain. He has fronted a new line-up of Bay City Rollers since the 1990s, which presently consists of Nick Gornall, Darren Lee, Phil Hendriks and Scott McGowan.
Strangely enough, the new BCR has been together longer than the classic line-up, which during its heyday included guitarists Eric Faulkner and Stuart John Wood (Woody), singer Les, bassist Alan Longmuir and his brother drummer Derek Longmuir. In a recent interview for the Belfast Telegraph, Les said: "I have had the same band now for over 20 years and we enjoy doing all those 1970s songs and that is appreciated by fans, it brings back memories of their youth and they don't want to forget what it was like to be young." He added: "Noone else is doing what I'm doing, I am bringing all the old hits back as well as new songs, and there is nothing like getting on stage, performing and seeing all those smiling faces in the audience. I've never had a proper job ever because I was in a band when I was 15, then I joined the Rollers. My first performances weren't that good but you learn - now I know it was what I was born to do." In late 1973, McKeown recorded lead vocals on "Remember (Sha-La-LaLa)", and a lead-in to a series of UK chart hits. 16-year-old Stuart Wood completed the "classic five" line up in February 1974, a week after the band had debuted the "Remember" single on Top of the Pops.
Beginning with "Remember" (UK No. 6), the Rollers' popularity exploded, and they released a string of hits on the UK chart. Following in succession were "Shang-aLang" (UK No. 2), "Summerlove Sensation" (UK No. 3), and "All of Me Loves All of You" (UK No. 4). By early 1975, they were one of the biggestselling acts in the UK. The successful '75 UK tour, which prompted newspaper headlines about the rise of "Rollermania" (a take-off on Beatlemania a decade before). The Rollers were the subject of a 20-week UK television series, Shang-a-Lang. A cover of the Four Seasons' "Bye, Bye, Baby" stayed at No.1 in the UK for six weeks in March and April 1975, selling nearly a million copies and becoming the biggest seller of the year. The subsequent single, "Give a Little Love" topped the charts in July 1975, achieving their second No.1 hit. Two full-length LPs were produced during this period: Once Upon a Star (1975) and Wouldn't You Like It? (1975). Faulkner and Wood undertook the majority of the songwriting duties.
By this time, Bay City Roller fans had a completely distinctive style of dress, featuring calf-length tartan trousers and tartan scarves. As the group's popularity swelled to superstardom in the UK, a concerted effort was made by Arista Records (the record company that evolved from Bell) to launch the Rollers in North America. In late 1975, the Rollers reached No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "Saturday Night". As fate would have it, "Saturday Night" had missed the UK chart completely two years earlier. A second North American hit came with "Money Honey", written by Faulkner, which hit No. 9 in the US. In Canada, it fared better, following its predecessor to the top, giving them their second No. 1 in the RPM national singles chart on 13 March 1976. At the end of 1978, the band had split with Les going out on his own as a successful solo artist, especially in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. After a short hiatus, he reformed his Bay City Rollers, who you can enjoy live, on September 25th at VillaMartin Plaza, on the Orihuela Costa. On the morning of September 30th, 1967, things at the somewhat stodgy BBC would forever change, with the closure of the Light Programme and the opening of Radio 1. Live from BBC Broadcasting House, at 5:30am announcer Paul Hollingdale opened the BBC Light Programme for the final time with his 'Breakfast Special'. As the countdown and expectation levels rose and slowly the studios were filled by press photographers, Controller Robin Scott moved to studio 'A' and the new Radio 1 theme tune, 'Theme One' (by the George Martin Orchestra) was cued up, ready to hit the airwaves. As 7:00am approached, Scott announced "Ten seconds to go before Radio 1....stand by for switching......five, four, three, Radio 2, Radio 1, GO! Cue Theme One, followed by 24 year-old, former pirate DJ Tony Blackburn presenting the new show 'Daily Disc Delivery', and the first record played was 'Flowers In The Rain' by The Move. His signature tune for the morning show, which he did for five years, was called 'Beefeaters' by Johnnie Dankworth. The first live group were the Bee Gees, appearing on Saturday Club at 10AM. Next up at 10.00am was none other than Mr Cracker Jack himself, Leslie Crowther, a man not ofter associated with Radio 1, The first day looked like this (and least we forget, Radio 2 started this day too): 7.00: Tony Blackburn 8.32: Junior Choice Leslie Crowther introduces Junior Choice, your record requests

A little trivia about Radio 1
According the BBC, these are a few facts and trivia about the most popular stations in the English listening world. Radio 1’s first listing in the Radio Times was billed on the cover as ‘The Swinging New Radio Service’. The popularity of Radio 1 was demonstrated in the year following its launch, when record sales increased by 10%. The first Peel session was from psychedelic rock band Tomorrow, broadcast on October 1, 1967. Between 1967 and 2004, John Peel hosted 4000 sessions with over 2000 artists. Famous artists including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, The Smiths, Nirvana, Pulp, The White Stripes performed, alongside The Fall, who played a total of 32 sessions.
The Chart run down or Pick of the Pops as it was known at the time transferred to Radio 1 from the Light Programme in 1967 where it was presented by Alan Freeman. Radio 1 doubled the Light Programme audience within the first month of launch. The first female presenter was Annie Nightingale, who joined Radio 1 in 1969 and is still a DJ on the station. Annie Nightingale is the longest-serving Radio 1 presenter and the only female DJ to have been honoured with an MBE by the Queen. Jimmy Young was ordered to stop singing on his daily Radio 1 show because BBC officials felt his ‘sweet music’ songs were out of keeping with the pop service. Radio 1 has historically been popular with young audiences and this was evident in April 1971 when students at St. Mungo’s High School in Falkirk threatened strike action because their headmaster would not grant permission to attend the lunchtime Radio 1 Club at the Town Hall. In October 1971, a doctor said that a 36 year old man was revived out of a 36-day coma after listening to Radio 1 for two days. 16. In 1971, the first Radio 1 documentary was aired called The Elvis Presley Story, narrated by Wink Martindale. In September 1972,
Radio 1 celebrated five years of broadcasting and hundreds of balloons were released from the top of Broadcasting House by the current DJs. Attached to each balloon was a form on which the finder could write their favourite record title and return it to the BBC, who would play it on the air. The DJs also sang a special song Tune to Radio 1 (based on Ray Stevens’ Turn Your Radio On).
The first Radio 1 Roadshow was held in Newquay, Cornwall on July, 23 1973. The station arrived in Newquay, and then toured across more than 50 venues a year until 1999. 1992 saw numbers at the Roadshow peak when 100,000 turned up for the 25th anniversary of Radio 1. Radio 1’s news service Newsbeat first aired on September 10, 1973. In 1978 Eddie Kidd drove a motorcycle up two three-foot planks and leapt over 10 Radio 1 DJs. Unfortunately for Tony Blackburn, he lost a draw so was placed furthest away from the ramp.
Our Tune, a Simon Bates feature of love and loss was first broadcast on Radio 1 in 1979. This was when listeners wrote in with a real life love story or tragedy, and Simon Bates would read it on air while the theme to Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film Romeo and Juliet played in the background. On 13th July 1985 Radio 1 broadcast the Live Aid concert, held at Wembley Stadium to raise relief funds for the ongoing Ethiopian famine. On December 6, 1980 Andy Peebles interviewed John Lennon and Yoko Ono in New York, just two days before John was assassinated. In 1991, Simon Bates broadcast a Valentine’s special from the Gulf, where troops sent messages to their loved ones at home. Radio 1 went digital in 1995, launching on DAB that autumn. In 1991 Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, Jason Donovan and the Pet Shop Boys were guest presenters, covering for Simon Bates. In 1992, Radio 1 broadcast the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for Aids Awareness. In 1992, a poll conducted by Radio 1 saw listeners vote Stars by Simply Red as their favourite album. Since 1995, Radio 1 has annually hosted a weekend of broadcasts from Ibiza to showcase the station’s dance music output. There have been a total of 15 presenters of the popular Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

Bobby Kimble: From Toto to Solo by Lee Howard Mr Bobby Kimball is an American singer, best known as the original and long time frontman of the rock band “TOTO”. Born and raised down south, he has music running through his veins since birth. Always into harmony, rhythm, and melody, Kimball would go on to become the voice of platinum selling Rock band Toto, leading them to major success during his initial tenure between 1977 and 1984. With a very distinctive voice, Kimball continues to sooth his artistic soul with touring around the world and putting out new music, including his latest solo album “We’re Not In Kansas Anymore”. He's built up an extremely impressive career in Rock-n-Roll over the past 50 something years as the lead voice of Toto plus a massive amount of collaborations, all keeping very busy. Bobby was an intricate part of the success with Toto as the band’s leading voice through years of platinum and gold success. Between the years of 1978 and 1984, the band attained massive commercial success. The band's biggest hits were penned by David Paich who was the main writer. Bobby said: "I sang the very first single on the first album, I sang all the lead and backing vocals on “Hold the Line.” So many people were so interested in that one song and when we got to the Toto IV album in 1982 we knew we had to do absolutely one of the best albums ever. The song
“Africa” was written by David Paich and Jeff Porcaro. Jeff was the best drummer in the whole world and sadly passed away young. Also the song “Rosanna,” along with the Toto IV album, was nominated for eight Grammys of which the band won 6. I had several bands around the world. They were musicians I met while touring with Toto. Some of the best musicians in the world would come to our concerts and come backstage. It was very fun contacting and telling them, “I have twenty dates in your area.” They would put a band together and I knew they would have a band as good as they are, and they did. It was always super fun. In 1999, I recorded an album with John Zaika and it was called All I Ever Needed. That sold lots of CDs, but I think We’re Not In Kansas Anymore is going to be a lot bigger. I’ve received thousands of messages from people saying they think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done but we’ll see! My concerts are booked by a few agents I use. One of them is in Belgium and he is absolutely fantastic. He introduced me to one of my best friends that I met in Dubai. That was back in 2007 when I was playing the Dubai Jazz Festival, he was at the bottom of the stairs when I walked up the back of the stage. Philipp Maier is his name and I found out he is from Germany and he is the guy who put the Dubai Symphony Orchestra together. He was a conductor and arranger for so long. He’s now back in Germany, but I introduced him to the Belgian agent and he let me know there are possibly twenty-five concerts around the world with orchestras. He’s already arranged the songs I’m gonna be
playing. It will be an orchestra and a five-piece Rock band. There’s hardly an inch on the planet, minus the north and south pole, that I haven’t been too. On this tour, of 25 concerts, I will only be doing three Toto songs – “Hold the Line,” “Africa,” and “Rosanna.” Im gonna be doing also several songs from my We’re Not In Kansas Anymore album I take care of my voice very much every day. By the way, let me mention, I own part of a hearing aid company for about eleven years in Germany. The ear, eyes, nose, and throat doctor who works there is fantastic." As a band, TOTO has sold over 40 million albums, and today continue to be a worldwide arena draw staging standing room only events across the globe. With over 39 years together and thousands of credits and accolades to their names, TOTO remains one of the top selling touring and recording bands in the world. Their repertoire continues to be current via high profile usage on both broadcast television and films. They are pop culture, and are one of the few 70s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles to a career enjoyed by a multi-generational fan base. u

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth studio album by the Beatles. Released on 26 May 1967 in the United Kingdom and 2 June 1967 in the United States, it spent 27 weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart and 15 weeks at number one in the US. It was lauded by critics for its innovations in production, songwriting and graphic design, for bridging a cultural divide between popular music and high art, and for providing a musical representation of its generation and the contemporary counterculture. It won four Grammy Awards in 1968, including Album of the Year, the first rock LP to receive this honour. In August 1966, the Beatles permanently retired from touring and began a three-month holiday. During a return flight to London in November, Paul McCartney had an idea for a song involving an Edwardian military band that formed the impetus of the Sgt. Pepper concept. Sessions began on 24 November at EMI's Abbey Road Studios with two compositions inspired by the Beatles' youth, "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane", but after pressure from EMI, the songs were released as a double A-side single and not included on the album. In February 1967, after recording the title track "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", McCartney suggested that the Beatles should release an entire album representing a performance by the fictional Sgt. Pepper band.
This alter ego group would give them the freedom to experiment musically. During the recording sessions, the band furthered the technological progression they had made with their 1966 album Revolver. Knowing they would not have to perform the tracks live, they adopted an experimental approach to composition and recording on songs such as "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" and "A Day in the Life". Producer George Martin and engineer Geoff Emerick helped realise the group's ideas by approaching the studio as an instrument, applying orchestral overdubs, sound effects and other methods of tape manipulation. Recording was completed on 21 April 1967. The cover, depicting the Beatles posing in front of a tableau of celebrities and historical figures, was designed by the British pop artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth. Sgt. Pepper is regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the use of extended form in popular music while continuing the artistic maturation seen on the Beatles' preceding releases. An important work of British psychedelia, the album incorporates a range of stylistic influences, including vaudeville, circus, music hall, avantgarde, and Western and Indian classical music. It is described as one of the first art rock LPs, aiding the development of progressive rock, and is credited with marking the beginning of the album era. As of 2011, it has sold more than 32 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums ever released. Professor Kevin Dettmar, writing in The Oxford Encyclopaedia of British Literature, described it as "the most important and influential rock-and-roll album ever recorded".

Real Women: Audrey Hepburn Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4, 1929 in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium. Audrey gained immediate prominence in the US with her role in Roman Holiday (1953). This film turned out to be a huge success, and she won an Oscar as Best Actress. On September 25, 1954, she married the much older actor Mel Ferrer and starred in Sabrina (1954), for which she received another Academy Award nomination. She starred in the films Funny Face (1957), Love in the Afternoon (1957) and received another Academy Award nomination for her role in The Nun's Story (1959).
Audrey is possibly best known for her role as Holly Golightly in the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), for which she received another Oscar nomination. One of her most popular films was playing the role of Regina Lampert in the espionage caper Charade (1963) with Cary Grant. She followed that up as the lead in My Fair Lady (1964) opposite Rex
Harrison and received another nomination in Wait Until Dark (1967). In 1967, Audrey decided to retire from acting while she was on top. In 1988, Audrey became a special ambassador to the United Nations UNICEF fund helping children in Latin America and Africa. Audrey Hepburn died on January 20, 1993 in Tolochnaz, Vaud, Switzerland, from appendicular cancer. She had made a total of 31 films. A little Audrey Trivia Was first choice for the lead in A Taste of Honey (1961). Ranked #50 in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list. raced back to the ladies' room, retrieved the award, and was ready to pose for photographs.
She won the 1953 Best Actress Academy Award for Roman Holiday (1953). On March 25th, 1954, she accepted the award from the much revered Academy president Jean Hersholt. After accepting the award, Audrey kissed him smack on the mouth, instead of the cheek, in her excitement. Minutes after accepting her 1953 Oscar, Audrey realized that she'd misplaced it. Turning quickly on the steps of the Center Theater in New York, she
Was fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish, French, and Italian. She was raised bilingually; speaking English and Dutch (resulting in her unique accent). Was briefly considered for the main role in Cleopatra (1963) but the part went to Elizabeth Taylor
She confessed to eating tulip bulbs and tried to bake grass into bread during the hard days of World War II. Was trained as a dental assistant before making it big. Henry Mancini said of her: "'Moon River' was written for her. No one else had ever understood it so completely. There have been more than a thousand versions of 'Moon River', but hers is unquestionably the greatest". Presented the Best Picture Oscar at the Academy Awards four times (in 1955, 1960, 1966, and 1975), more than any other actress. Told People Magazine that she was very self-conscious about her size-10 feet. She was voted the 21st Greatest Movie Star of all time by Entertainment Weekly.
In 1993 she became the thirteenth performer to win the Triple Crown of Acting. Oscar - Best Actress for Roman Holiday (1953), Tony for Best Actress in a Play for "Ondine" (1954) and Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement In 1996 the British magazine Harpers & Queen conducted a poll to find the most fascinating women of our time. She was in the #1 spot.
Followed winning the Academy Award for Roman Holiday (1953) with winning Broadway's 1954 Tony Award as Best Actress (Dramatic) for "Ondine." Voted #1 in TheAge.com's Top 100: Natural Beauties of all time. She owned a Yorkshire Terrier called "Mr. Famous". Her biggest film regret was not getting the Anne Bancroft role in The Turning Point (1977). "That was the one film", she later admitted, "that got away from me." Asked for the part of Emma Jacklin in The Turning Point (1977) but Anne Bancroft had already been cast in the role. Hepburn was diagnosed with appendiceal cancer on November 1, 1992 (not colon cancer, as it is often mistakenly called). The cancer spread into the lining of her small intestine. She had one foot of intestine removed in surgery and went through chemotherapy, but in a second surgery it was decided that the cancer had spread too far and could not be treated. Her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer believes it had probably been developing over the course of the previous five years. The US Postal Service issued a 37 cent commemorative stamp honouring her as a Hollywood legend and humanitarian (2003). Her famous "little black dress" from Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), designed by Hubert de Givenchy, was sold at a Christie's auction for approximately $920,000 (5 December 2006). Was voted "most beautiful woman of all time" by the readers of "New Woman" magazine (2006).
Man's Man: Burt Reynolds eventually had recurring roles in such shows as Gunsmoke (1955), Riverboat (1959) and his own series, Hawk (1966).
Burton Leon Reynolds was born in Lansing, Michigan, February 11, 1936, He died of a heart attack, age 82, on September 6, 2018. After World War II, his family moved to Riviera Beach, Florida, where his father was chief of police, and where Burt excelled as an athlete and played with Florida State University. He became an All Star Southern Conference halfback (and was earmarked by the Baltimore Colts) before a knee injury and a car accident ended his football career. He was spotted in a New York City production of "Mister Roberts," signed to a TV contract, and
It was his tough-guy performance as macho Lewis Medlock in the John Boorman backwoods nightmare Deliverance (1972) that really stamped him as a bona-fide star. Reynolds packed fans into theatres to see him in White Lightning (1973), The Longest Yard (1974), W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1975) and Gator (1976).
knee injury.
At this time, ex-stuntman and longtime Reynolds buddy Hal Needham came to him with a "road film" script. It turned out to be the incredibly popular Smokey and the Bandit (1977) with Sally Field and Jerry Reed, which took in over $100 million at the box office. That film's success was followed by Smokey and the Bandit II (1980) and Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983). Reynolds also appeared alongside Kris Kristofferson in the hit football film Semi-Tough (1977), with friend Dom DeLuise in the black comedy The End (1978) (which Reynolds directed), in the stunt-laden buddy film Hooper (1978) and then in the self-indulgent, star-packed road race flick The Cannonball Run (1981). A little Burt Trivia Attended Florida State University on a football scholarship, but only played in two seasons. He was a star running back. His college football career was ended by a
Was the original choice to play Garrett Breedlove in Terms of Endearment (1983). Although he loved the script, he had already agreed to star in Stroker Ace (1983), so he turned down the role. As a result, the role went to Jack Nicholson, who eventually won an Oscar for it. Reynolds later commented that this was one of his most terrible mistakes. Was the first actor ever asked to guest-host The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962). Prior to Reynolds, only comedians had been invited. His first (?) guest
was his ex-wife Judy Carne, who he hadn't spoken to in over six years after a very bitter divorce. He bared almost all for a Cosmopolitan centrefold in 1972. Had a relationship with Sally Field for many years, but she refused his numerous proposals, and they eventually broke up. He said that she was a positive influence on him and, in fact, was the love of his life.
Turned down the role of John McClane in Die Hard (1988). It went to Bruce Willis. Hit #88 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1980 with the song "Let's Do Something Cheap and Superficial", from the film Smokey and the Bandit II (1980). Had long-term relationship with Dinah Shore. An early cougar, Dinah was 20 years older than Burt. Sales of the Pontiac TransAm increased by 500% after Smokey and the Bandit (1977). Pontiac was so grateful to Reynolds that it promised him a new TransAm every year in perpetuity. The promise lasted five years. He drove

Despite his lucrative career, in 1996 he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, due in part to an extravagant lifestyle, a divorce from Loni Anderson and failed investments in some Florida restaurant chains. 'Allo Allo' Trivia
'Allo 'Allo (1982–1992) 'Allo 'Allo! is a BBC television British sitcom that was first broadcast on BBC One from 1982 to 1992, comprising 85 episodes. The story is set in a small-town cafÊ in Nouvion, German-occupied France during the Second World War. It is a parody of another BBC programme, the wartime drama Secret Army. 'Allo, 'Allo! was created by David Croft, who also wrote the theme music, and Jeremy Lloyd.
Writer David Croft says that the inspiration for Officer Crabtree, the policeman (played by Arthur Bostrom) who speaks spectacularly bad French, came from Edward Heath, former British Prime Minister, who spoke French with a broad English accent. In real life, Arthur Bostrom speaks French fluently. "Listen carefully, I shall say this only once" was never meant to be a catchphrase, it was said once

and it got a laugh, so the character of Michelle said it in every episode after. Many famous catchphrases were created by accident. When Edith catches René embracing another woman and asks for an explanation, one writer sets up the situation, while the other writer writes the excuse René gives.
The character of Herr Otto Flick is a combination parody on the Nazi minister Joseph Goebbels and the Gestapo agent Arnold Toht from the film Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Ironically, one of the first cast members to die (in 1993) was Kenneth Connor (Monsieur Alphonse, the Nouvion undertaker). The entire cast outlived him, except for Jack Haig (1913-1989), the original Roger Leclerc.
In 1986, Gorden Kaye and Vicki Michelle in character as Rene and Yvette released a single, which was their cover of Serge
Madame Edith (Carmen Silvera,1922-2002) and Madame Fanny La Fan (Rose Hill,1914-2003) are only 8 years apart in age in real life, yet they played mother and daughter in 'Allo 'Allo.
Herr Flick was originally intended to be the main threat to the other main characters, which is evident in the first two seasons of the show. This was downplayed later, since the writers couldn't resist giving him certain running gags like poor disguises and Gestapo jokes, which made him far less intimidating. This was also the reason for expanding the role of General von Klinkerhoffen, to fill the void of a shared antagonist.
The location sequences were filmed in Norfolk. Series 5 was commissioned with the intention of syndication in America. As a result, it aired as a single long series of twenty six, twenty five minute shows, from September 1988 - February 1989. The attempt to air the show in America failed but it did get a cult following later on when shown on PBS.
Richard Gibson told about his absence from the final six episodes that despite the producers telling him this would be the final series, he quit anyway because he heard stories about ending the show before and therefore he did not believe it.

The "Yous" Within You! How to achieve any goal...and not get in your way By Robert Landau: Motivational Speaker the chatter that ultimately prevents you from getting where you want to be.
We've all been there. You set a goal for yourself but somehow along the way, you don't make it to the finish line. Sadly, there's no one to blame but yourself. Somehow, you've stood in your own way. So with that in mind, consider the possibility that there are two probable selves within you. Let’s call them "Yous". The first "you" is the one that is constantly critical and ultimately keeps you from realising your truest potential. It’s the "you" that is the self-doubter and the one that tends to create the energy of fear within you from day to day. It’s the one that puts a roadblock in your way and will literally prevent you from achieving your goal. This "you" has endless mindchatter associated with it and it’s
Example You have a big presentation to make next week. Public speaking isn’t the easiest thing you’ve ever had to do but you also realise that it’s an important part of your job. You knew you were going to have to do it when you accepted this position.
The big day has finally arrived. You’ve spent hours preparing your talk and the seventy people that you were told would be there, are now sitting there anxiously awaiting for your presentation to begin. All eyes are on you. You can feel their pensive, judgmental stares even before you’ve uttered your first word. You are now being introduced and already you see people yawning. Enter the "you" within that we’ve been talking about thus far. Now the inner chatter begins. “I told you they’d hate you even before you started”, your mindchatter says. “Look at that lady in the third row, she’s texting and probably won’t stop during your whole presentation! That guy in the seventh row looks like he totally hates you. You should never do this type of stuff, how the heck are you going to be able to hold the interest of these seventy downers in the audience? Admit it, you’re sunk!” So now you’ve got a choice. Are you going to buy into the negative inner storm that no one else but you has created? Most of us do. So many will listen and let this little "you" take over. Choosing to buy into your negative mindchatter will not only ruin your task of communicating, but your future with this company as well.
Enter the real "You". I’ll differentiate this one with a capitol "Y". This "you" is the real "You", the one that bypasses all the judgment and negative stuff and comes straight from the core of your being, straight from your heart. This is the "You" that knows you can do whatever it is that you have set out to do. This is the "You" that is confident and self assured. This is the "You" that if given the chance, can get you where you need to go without any interference along the way. Remember the commercial that used to air many years ago where you saw a person who had to make a decision and you then saw their little demonic "you" outside their left ear telling them to go the way of negativity and the
Big "You"- Do it…just do it! You go this. I’ll be with you every step of the way. Just think about what it is you want to say. You already have all of it within You, just stay in the present moment. I promise to catch you if you fall. Take the chance, believe in Yourself and do it. You wouldn’t be standing here if you weren’t up to the task. Believe! See yourself as a success already, even before you’ve uttered the first word. You’ll get there…just do it! You have to jump, trusting that there’s water below.
angelic "You" that lovingly hovered outside their right ear constantly assuring the person to move ahead confidently? Which "you" would you listen to? Even more important, which "you" do you listen to on a daily basis when issues come up? So now you’re standing there, about to begin your presentation. An uncomfortable hush falls over those that are gathered to hear you. All at once, your two "yous" immediately start to work at wining you over. Little "you"- Are you kidding me? You’ll never be able to do this. Don’t kid yourself, you’re doomed. Oh well, you needed to find another job anyway.
You decide to take the leap and guess what? You’re a major success! Achieving success in life has everything to do with your mindset even before you’ve begun a task. Do you believe in your core of cores that you can do it? If you think and feel that you can, you most likely will be up to the task and come through with flying colours. Always remember which "You" you really are. Consider the possibility that you already have what it takes to achieve any goal you wish to undertake. Just get out of your way in the process. Any time negative mind-chatter comes up, acknowledge it and see it for what it is...just chatter. Are you your mind-chatter or might you be something more?
Chatter doesn't have to stop you from getting to where you want to be. You are always in control. Just set your course and feel what it would feel like to cross the finish line. You've already won the race, you just have to convince yourself of your victory before you take the first step. Winning means supporting yourself and effectively dealing with whatever resistance comes up. How you talk to yourself, within yourself, makes a huge difference in goal accomplishment or task defeat. Understand that the choice is always yours. It takes the same amount of energy to think positively of yourself as it does to think in a negative fashion. The choice is always yours.

A Little Film Trivia: September That killer moment in the fourth Alien flick finds Ripley kicking serious butt on the basketball court. When she throws the ball behind her as she's walking away, it disappears offscreen for a split second, then swishes straight into the net. Sigourney Weaver really does it in one. Terrified by the new threat of video piracy, Universal made the home video cassettes for ET with green plastic. The plan was to make sure consumers knew that their hardearned cash was going toward a genuine copy of the film - not a bootleg version which would have looked like a regular VHS tape. It obviously worked, as the release broke home entertainment records. There's a scene when Rocky Balboa points out a mistake in the poster at the match venue, and it was in fact entirely unscripted. Sylvester Stallone was forced to add the line because the art department made a genuine mistake when producing the prop, making the Italian Stallion's boxing trunks completely the wrong colour.
In order to make Obiwan look bedraggled and desert-worn, Alec Guinness adopted a special type of method acting. Before shooting a single scene, he donned Kenobi's signature robes, laid on the Tunisian desert floor and rolled around so his costume would acquire that weathered, lived-in look. After decades of wondering which Cubs game Ferris, Cameron and Sloane attend, one die-hard sports fan figured it out. How? By analysing the announcer's voiceover, who was on the field, and the time of year. Ferris catches a foul ball in the top of the eleventh inning from an Atlanta Braves hitter - that extra inning game really did take place at Wrigley Field in Chicago on June 5, 1985. Frank Capra, the director, insisted that George Bailey's workshop include a pet raven for no better reason than the avian star Jimmy was a lucky charm. Capra had cast the bird in all of his films from 1938's You Can't Take It With You onwards, and felt it would have been a bad omen to not include his feathered friend.

Addendum: The attraction of a digital magazine is that we can keep adding to it... Here's some more September News...
Over the past couple of years we have been in touch, on and off, with Elvis photographer Ed Bonja. Sadly, Ed passed away at the age of just 74 on September 4th, 2019, and thus our plans of a possible visit to Torrevieja of the world famous photographer and a display of just a few of his photographs, will never happen. There was no one who took more pictures of Elvis Presley than Ed Bonja. He estimated that over the years he shot about 9,000 images of the King. Now, the body photographer of the king died at the age of 74 years. Ed died after a serious illness in a Berlin hospital, said the music producer Bernhard Kurz. Bonja and Kurz have worked together for years on "Elvis - The Musical". Bonja was a concert photographer and tour manager from 1970 to shortly before his death in 1977 and was very close to Presley. Ge supplying Kurz with his insider knowledge for the musical.
Ed said: "I was privileged to be Elvis Presley's official photographer and tour manager from 1970-1977. Throughout these great year, I was able to take thousands of fantastic photos capturing the King in several amazing performances." Bonja knew Elvis from the early 1960s and later accompanied him as assistant to his manager Colonel Tom Parker on his tours. His photos of Elvis adorn several LP covers. His archive contains some still unpublished photographs of Elvis and includes information about his 9000 photos of Elvis Presley. Bonja's family were involved in concert tours with Elvis and Ed first saw The King perform live in 1957 in the Pan-Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Presley played two days in a row. Ed noted that over the years "that he had seen more than a thousand concerts by Elvis and photographed almost every concert. Elvis also loved his camera. "Whenever he saw me, he did poses, and I was even allowed to take pictures directly on stage, which was very unusual."

Apple's new iPhone 11, iPad, TV, Games & iWatch
This month Apple launched a variety of new products in their bid to win back the throne of best tech master with three new smartphones, new models of tablets and smart watches. First, the iPhone 11, which follows on from the XR model, inherits its 6.1-inch LCD screen, adds new colours for its case and a double camera on the back. Thanks to a second ultra wideangle lens, the new iPhone allows you to reframe and change the perspective after taking the picture. In addition, it also adds a night mode, To help change the downward direction in sales, Apple lowers the starting price of its iPhone 11, which starts at $699 (809â‚Ź in Spain), compared to $749 (in Spain, 859â‚Ź) for the iPhone XR on its release. With this, the technology giant partially corrects the general price increase that meant its range of mobile phones released a year ago.
Apple's top 2019 models carry the 'Pro' tag for the first time. The two iPhones offer increased energy efficiency with their new A13 Bionic processor, along with refinements in different aspects of software and hardware. The phone has increased battery life by up to five hours on the iPhone 11 Pro Max (6.5 inches), while the improvement on the iPhone 11 Pro (5.8 inches) will be four hours: according to the data supplied by the company itself and in the absence of independent tests. Both variants of the iPhone Pro also add an ultra wide angle lens to form a triple camera system (compared to the dual of its predecessors, the iPhone XS), specially adapted to look for cinematic quality in the recording of videos in 4K. The new iPhone Pro will cost from $999 (1,159â‚Ź) and, like the iPhone 11, can be booked online starting Friday, September 13, with it arriving in stores a week later. The 2019 range is completed with the iPhone XR and the iPhone 8, whose starting prices are reduced in both cases by $150 (in Spain the discount is 150â‚Ź). The iPhone 7, 7 Plus, XS and XS Max are also discontinued.
Watch 5 With their fifth generation, Apple finally achieves the most anticipated function for its watch: that the screen is not black when not being accessed, which accounts for the largest part of the time The new screen will always be on and adapting to ambient light thanks to LTPO technology (which allows for considerable savings in the watch's battery life), without the need to have to move and raise the wrist (or touch the screen) to activate it. The renewed smartwatch also incorporates a compass and new safety features (such as international emergency calls), along with new materials: grey titanium and white ceramic. The price of the new iWatch 5 starts at $399 (from 449â‚Ź in Spain) and can be booked online now, although it will not reach stores until Friday, September 20. The model with 4G connectivity costs 100â‚Ź more and the range is completed with a more affordable model: the series 3, first presented two years ago, which lowers its starting price to $199 (229â‚Ź in Spain). Video games and TV, for five dollars a month Apple has also launched their new Apple Arcade video game service, which recovers the spirit of the recreational machines of the eighties and updates that style by offering a catalog of games (available on all their devices), for a monthly fee of five dollars (five euros / month in Spain): a kind
of Netflix of video games, which will be available from Thursday, September 19 — the same day iOS 13 is released (and when new versions of the iPad OS operating systems can also be downloaded for free, tvOS and watchOS). But to compete directly with the streaming leader, Apple has prepared its own catalog of TV series, movies and documentaries, which will be distributed through its new TV + service, which will begin its deployment in more than 100 countries on November 1, also to a price of 5 dollars per month (5 euros / month in Spain). Initially it will be a fairly limited number of audiovisual productions, exclusive to Apple, which will gradually increase every month. More inches for the basic iPad As for the iPad, Apple has recognised the need to make this operating system independent (now called iPadOS, compared to the iPhone's iOS) to provide his tablet with more multitasking functions, new gestures and better integration with his own digital pen. Apple is positioning its tablet as a true alternative to the laptop, which can be booked today and will arrive in stores on Monday, September 30 at the same price as its predecessor (from $329 dollars, with the higher price in Spain of 379₏). The new basic model has expanded its screen from 9.7 to 10.2 inches, doubles the power of its processor and incorporates the Smart Connector port to attach a keyboard.
