She is a cupcake. Her name is Cupy. She has a glazed strawberry wig. In the highest part of her head she wears a little chocolate heart with the flag of the UK. She has two big eyes and a small mouth, she hasn’t got a nose. She’s a famous model in the USA, but she decided to move to England to change her routines. She’s a normal cupcake. She likes going out with her friends but there is a thing she can not hide: she likes changing her dresses a lot. She visited a lot of cities of the UK: London, Glasgow, Oxford… She wants to visit Barcelona to see the very important monuments like Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s beaches, Park Güell, the Pedrera House… When she was in the UK, she met some friends from Barcelona. They named her “Magdalena” 6th B – Montserrat
Cupy was born in a “Starbucks coffee shop” in Los Angeles, California, when the owner of the shop, Mr.Kulin, made him and her two friends: Pierre, the French Croissant, Gingerbread
and Gingi,
cookie.
They
the
weren’t
together for much time but they quickly became best friends. Pierre liked reading a lot and Gingi was more interested in listening to music. Mr.Kulin
was
a
very
special baker who could make
very
special
pastries. The three friends were pastries
the
first
that
alive
Mr.Kulin
made so he loved them very much. Nobody knew about this incredible secret. They all lived happily together since one terrible day. An English top model called Nathalie went into the Starbucks coffee shop to buy her family’s breakfast. She didn’t like
anything on the counter but when she saw the three pastries in the back shop she asked for them and the girl
who
worked
with
Mr.Kulin sold Cupy, Pierre and Gingi to the model. When Mr.Kulin saw his three pastries in a bag he ran out of the shop but …the girl disappeared. When Nathalie opened her bag and took Cupy she shouted: “ahhh!!! Don’t eat me”. It was then when Nathalie discovered that the three pastries were alive. She took them back home to London and they became friends. Cupy asked Nathalie to be a model like her. Nathalie agreed because she thought Cupy was very pretty. Pierre and Gingi became her managers. After some time travelling and working together as models, one day Nathalie received a called from her manager: they wanted her for the “Barcelona Fashion Week”. Cupy was excited. She wanted to visit that incredible city because she had some Catalan friends. They called her Magdalena.
The day arrived. All of them were very nervous. On their way to the airport there was a lot of traffic and they were late!! When they arrived at the airport Nathalie started to run and then Cupy fell on the floor. A little boy took her and put her into his handbag. It was dark and quiet there. “ What’s
your
name?”-
somebody asked. Cupy saw a strange pastry with a hole in the middle. “ I’m Donete Kulin”. Cuppy surprised said: “My name’s Cupy Kulin…” Suddenly they stopped talking because they heard a loud voice: “ Mummy, when are going on the plane?” – “Right now, Lukas”. Lukas and his mum run to the gate and the security guard told Lukas that he couldn’t get on the plane with food. So, he quickly ate Donete Kulin. When Cupy realized that his new friend, Donete Kulin, died, he felt very scared and sad, because she didn’t want to die. She tried to think of different possibilities to escape but she wasn’t sure what to do. Finally, Cupy found a sharp key in the bag and she used it to make a hole and escape. He was scared to jump but he accidentally fell against the floor.
Cupy remembered that Nathalie liked Frapuccino, so she went to Starbucks in London’s airport.
When she entered the café she suddenly saw Mr. Kulin, who was now living in London, and she shouted: “Mr. Kulin, Mr. Kulin!”. “Cupy, what are you doing here?”, answered Mr. Kulin, turning to Cupy. “I escaped from a boy; he wanted to eat me!”, said Cupy. “Oh, that’s terrible!”, said Mr. Kulin. I was in the boy’s bag with Donete Kulin and the boy ate him.
“Oh, no!”, cried Mr. Kulin, “Donete was one of my best friends!”. “Gingi and Pierre are with Nathalie, but I am lost so I will wait here”, said Cupy. Meanwhile, Nathalie, Pierre and Gingi were in the airport waiting for their plane (they missed the first one!), when Nathalie heard Pierre and Gingi talking inside the bag: “Cupy is not here!”, “Oh, no!”. Nathalie opened her bag and realized that Cupy wasn’t there and Nathalie said: “Where is Cupy?
What happened to Cupy?”. “We don’t know! Maybe he fell!”, Gingi replied. Nathalie was very worried, so they all started to look for Cupy. Nathalie was very nervous because she couldn’t find her friend Cupy in her bag. Then she saw a Starbucks at the end of the airport and she went there to relax, drink a cup of coffee and think where Cupy was. When she arrived, she directly went to the food display to choose a pastry and a coffee. The young lady working at the Starbucks, asked, “What would you like? There is a special pastry discount that if you take two you pay for one”, Nathalie replied looking at the display, “Well, I’ll take Capuccino and a donut and a Cupy... CUPY!” She saw her cupcake friend and was jumping of happiness! Nathalie, Pierre, Gingi and Cupy were finally together and they got on a plane to go to the Barcelona Fashion Week. Nathalie boarded the plane to Barcelona with her three pastry friends in her handbag. They were happy but nervous at the same time. Nathalie looked for her seat and sat down. Then, relieved, she picked up the magazine in the seat in front of her. It was about 080 Barcelona Fashion Week!! 'Oh! Look!' Nathalie shouted. 'The magazine is about Barcelona Fashion Week, the place we are going to. There is a lot of information' Cupy, Gingi and Pierre took their heads out of Nathalie's handbag and the four started to read. The magazine had information about the place, the sponsor, the models and the designers. The event was in a building called DHUB, the sponsor was the Catalan TV, the models were Bar Rafaeli, Malena Costa, Alba Galocha and many more, and the designers that evening were:
'Oh! Miriam Ponsa! I know her! She is one of my Catalan friends.' Cupy said suddenly. 'I paraded for her in London three years ago, after she won the award for the best
collection autumn- winter 2010-2011 in Barcelona. She is now a famous designer, but she started designing in 2000 in her family factory. She worked with a group of young people who helped her make the designs. After she won the prize in Barcelona, she started travelling around the world and did fashion shows in important cities like Paris, New York, Milan and London.. I met her there.' Suddenly, a voice interrupted Cupy. It was the
captain.
They
were
near
their
destination. "Ladies and Gentlemen, as we have commenced our final descent into Barcelona, would you kindly return to your seat, and fasten your seat belts. Currently the weather in the city is very nice: 20ยบC on a bright sunny afternoon. After landing, please remain seated with seat-belts fastened until the aircraft has come to a halt at the gate and the seat-belt signs has been switched off." The plane landed and the four friends went to the taxi stop at the airport. 'Can you speak English? Can you please take us... I mean... Can you please take me to the DUHB?' Nathalie asked a tax

Nathalie said. 'Oh! Sure! No problem', the taxi driver said. He started the car and took them there. The DHUB, Disseny Hub Barcelona, was an incredible building made of glass and metal. Around the building, there was a big artificial pond. The place was crowded and noisy. There were photographers, journalists, celebrities, tourists, politicians... Nathalie took the three pastries out of her handbag and the four friends looked around excited. It was the dream of their lives. 'We have to hurry up! It's half past 2 and Miriam Ponsa is showing at 4 o'clock. We have to find her and ask her if we can parade for her.' Nathalie said nervously. 'OK! Next step: find Miriam Ponsa!' Cupy, Gingi and Pierre shouted at the same time with excitement. And the four inseparable friends soon disappeared into the crowd... IES B Illustrators: Montserrat
Nathalie and her friends arrived at the DHUB at 3pm and they were very excited. They were big fans of Miriam Ponsa, because she was the best fashion designer of the
whole world. Miriam was a young girl, she was just 24 years old. She had got long curly hair and her eyes were sky blue and amazingly big. Miriam was 1.76 meters tall, because her dad was a player in the Lakers when he was young. She was so pretty that people fell in love with her instantly.
It took them about 15 minutes to find Miriam. Cupy’s dream was to participate in a fashion show so she asked Miriam if they could participate in it. They were very nervous because they were talking to her! “Hello, we are Cupy, Ginger and Pierre”, said Cupy. “Hello”, said Miriam. “Can we participate in the fashion week, please?”, asked Cupy. “No, sorry. That’s not possible…”, said Miriam. “Please, please… it’s my dream”, said Cupy. “No”, said Miriam. “But why not?”, asked Cupy. “Because you are very ugly”. Cupy started to cry and cry, because Miriam told her she was ugly.
They were really stubborn, so Miriam finally decided to call the organizer. She asked him if a cupcake, a croissant and a cookie could participate in the Fashion Week. The organizer decided to talk to them face to face. He wore black shoes, black trousers and a red T-shirt. He wore black glasses too.
He was the typical short and fat man that likes donuts and cupcakes very much. He told them that they had to leave, but they didn’t want to leave. The organizer was really hungry so he threatened them to eat Pierre if they didn’t leave. They didn’t want to leave so they tried to suborn him. They offered him 90€ but he didn’t accept the money because it was forbidden to accept people that weren’t subscribed. Then Cupy, Gingy and Pierre offered him 130€ but he didn’t accept. They were sad, because they didn’t have more money and they couldn’t walk down the catwalk. So they decided to do a streaptease to seduce the organiser. Cupy took off her wrapper and Pierre got rid of his chocolate head. Gingi clapped and started to shout: “Come on organiser, dance with us!”. But the organiser closed the door and hided in the dressing room. It was their chance! They dressed up and started to walk down the catwalk. Pink Cupy was dressed in a black shirt and a purple skirt. Her friend Pierre was wearing a chocolate dress and Gingi was wearing an orange dress. When they started to model they were all very nervous. Cupy really liked it and she was very good at it, but Pierre was so nervous that he moved his arms a lot. People were surprised because they were quite good and the public started to clap, but some people started to criticize them and threw them lentils, but Cupy, Pierre and Gingi dodged them and continued to walk. Pierre was more and more
nervous
and
suddenly the organiser shone a light on him and his chocolate started to melt. He started to cry. It was the first time that he modeled and he saw a lot of faces looking at him. He was trembling and crying and all his chocolate was gone. He felt naked. Cupy was walking down the catwalk and she thought she was doing great. She was very popular. But she didn’t have legs, so she started to jump and jump. After 10 meters her wrapper tore! She was extremely embarrassed and her friends pretended it didn’t happen.
When Gingi saw her friends naked she thought: “Why am I not naked?”. She also wanted to get naked to help her friends and because she felt different if she was the only one wearing clothes on. She started to undress. She took her Tshirt off and threw it at the people, then the skirt and then the shoes. At first people were scared, but then everyone started to have fun. Everyone was clapping and no one was throwing lentils at them. They looked at the big screen on the wall and they saw the fashion contest result: they won it! They couldn’t believe it! Meanwhile a photographer sneaked among the public and when he saw Cupy and her friends naked he started to take photos. They realized and they started to run to escape from the photographer, but it was too late. Next day the photos of the three friends were in the most famous newspaper of the city, “Cuore”.
