PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE / MOT DU PRÉSIDENT Dear colleagues, Our Academy continues to grow with new members, new sponsors, and greater organizational strength; however, we still need to continue to improve. With the help of our devoted Executive and committee members, and through CDSA (Canadian Dental Specialties Association), CPS Oral Health Section, RCDC, the different committees, and regular teleconferences, CAPD/ACDP has a national voice. But the task is not finished; help the Academy by getting involved. The country’s economy is changing, which is changing the economic priorities of families. The refugee crisis has added another challenge for our members, with new provincial and federal dental care programs. CAPD/ACDP has to speak in defense of quality care without compromise. The CAPD/ACDP annual meeting is coming up in Toronto on September 23-24, 2016 and your new Executive (President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer) and Executive Director and Parliamentarian will be introduced. The scientific portion of the meeting will provide continuing education opportunities and the social events are not to be missed. With the help of our sponsors and exhibitors this will be a great meeting. Click here to register now…For a strong Academy in a big country.

The sweet science of fighting cavities. Fluoride, calcium and phosphate all play an important role in improving tooth structure. The problem has been that calcium and fluoride can combine during storage to form calcium fluoride which renders the fluoride less effective. 3M’s exclusive TCP technology protects the calcium with a barrier. Once applied‚ saliva breaks the barrier down, making the calcium, phosphate and fluoride readily available to the tooth for optimum results†.
