ATTITUDE DETERMINES ALTITUDE Page 3
“We did our VERY best to make up for the time lost. We managed to uproot it and we anticipate that it will not happen this year.” - Principal mosena ngaoko
84,5% MATRIC PASS: Kwa Dukathole Secondary principal Mosena Ngoako is delighted that Satanism is a thing of the past in his school. Kwa Dukathole Secondary School spent approximately nine months last year battling the impact of Satanism while preparing Matric learners for their debut Curriculum Assessment Policy (CAPS) final examinations. Despite all these traumatic challenges, the school proved victorious with a Matric pass rate of 84,5%. Mosena Ngoako, principal of Kwa Dukathole Secondary School, told tame TIMES that Satanism changed the school’s focus and that educators and learners consumed a great deal of school time searching for solutions. “This harmful religious behaviour wasted a lot of school time,” he said. “The challenge was that the so-called “king” was in Grade 12 and some Grade 11s were involved. It was the first time we discovered that there was Satanism at the school. The practice was traumatic and vicious as the learners were cutting each other and sucking each other’s
blood,” said Ngoako. Satanism, however, was ultimately unable to destroy - or even damage - the good results of the school, as educators and learners used weekends, extra lessons and camps to make up for the time lost. “We did our very best to make up for the time lost. We managed to uproot it and we anticipate that it will not happen this year. We have removed four ringleaders from the school. We appreciate the assistance we received from the local SAPS, district and provincial department of education, parents and religious leaders for solving the problem,” he said. Ngoako said they now have a priest and motivational speakers who will be addressing and motivating the learners on the dangers of Satanism. “We will also conduct a meeting with the Grade 8s to make them aware of Satanism and persuade them to refrain from following foreign religions,” said Ngoako.

Charity Moyo charity@tametimes.co.za CONGRATULATIONS: Principal of Eketsang Secondary School Hlahane Molefe and SGB chairperson Phadi Mopedi showcase the certificate and trophy awarded to the school by the Gauteng Department of Education.
Eketsang Secondary School was awarded a certificate for outstanding performance in the 2014 National Senior Certificate examinations and a trophy for the best managed Secondary School Improvement Programme centre by the Gauteng Department of Education. The school obtained a Matric pass rate of 81,5% in 2014 Matric - with 54
bachelor passes, 81 diploma passes and 46 higher certificates. Mzuvele Shezi was the top learner at the school, with five distinctions. Principal of Eketsang Hlahane Molefe applauded the effective support that they received from the SGB, educators and Score Metals that enabled them to achieve their excellent results. “Team work, collective effort and spirit yielded
positive results for the school,” said Molefe. Phadi Mopedi, SGB chairperson said, “We are over the moon with the results achieved. We praise the school and we are always supportive of the goals and objectives set by the school. We are also appealing to parents to support their children and not to leave everything to the teachers. ”
charity@tametimes.co.za Lethukuthula Secondary School has done it again, once more achieving the best Matric results in the Ekurhuleni South District. The school obtained a 97% pass rate in 2014, which is a drop of 3% compared to their 100% Matric pass rate in the previous year when they achieved a 100% Matric pass rate. The school achieved 90 bachelor passes, 112 diploma passes and 13 higher certificates. Out of all the learners who wrote Matric examinations at the school, there were seven learners who were progressed and six failed. The cream of the crop was Rodney Ramanyathe, who obtained six distinctions and
will be studying geology at Wits University. Nompumelelo Ntshangase, chairperson of the School Governing Body, highlighted progression and the Curriculum Assessment Policy (CAPS) as challenges that led to the slight drop in the school’s pass rate.
“
The camp helped us a lot in preparing for the examinations. We applaud the teachers for a good job well done. Ntshangase

charity@tametimes.co.za Residing in a three-roomed shack and being raised by a single, unemployed father could have stopped Michael Bila from excelling in Matric – but he passed with flying colours. He obtained position one nationally in physical science with 100%. He also obtained six distinctions - in Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Life Orientation, Geography and Tsonga. Bila is going to study Actuarial Science at Wits University. “A combination of hard work, team work, sleepless nights and self-motivation led to my success in Matric. I had financial challenges as my father is unemployed but he tried his level best to make sure that l was equipped at school,” said Bila. He added that his background motivated him to work hard at school. His advice to upcoming Matrics is: “In order to change your background you should study hard. The harder you work, the luckier you become.” Eugene Bila, his father, said, “I am happy for my son and had confidence in him that he would pass. Parents should teach children things that will help them and not allow them to be dominated by their peers.” Bores Khuzwayo, principal at Ponego Secondary School, said, “Many learners have passed and we have surpassed the district target percentage with 6%. Michael Bila has made history for the second time at the school following Tumelo Sibanda who was also top nationally in 2007. We are going to use him to motivate and address other learners. We are striving to produce other Bilas at the school.” The school obtained a pass rate of 86%, a 5,21% drop compared to 2013 when they achieved 91,21%. There were 69 bachelor passes, 67 diploma passes and 33 higher certificates.

The technical school has increased its percentage since 2013 when it achieved a 76, 6% pass rate. It obtained 28 bachelor passes, 57 diploma passes and 24 higher certificates - with a total of 109 learners who passed and only 25 who failed.
Ntuthuko Khaba was the top learner at the school with an average of 72,71%. Acting principal Selebalo Maleko said in 2014 they started preparing for the examinations earlier, thereby identifying learners at risk and arranging meetings with their parents to discuss their progress. “I am very happy with the school performance. We will continue with extra classes, analyzing the tasks written per
question paper to highlight the challenges that the learners faced so that we can work on them,” said Maleko.

SCARY PLACE: Sergeant Nicholas Mbule and Katlehong CPF member Sizakele Ncala with the children from Dikole section who visited the police station eager to see the prisoners in their cells. They wanted to find out more about the place that they could end up in if they broke the law.
Two suspects arrested for murder
ARRESTED: The arresting officer takes the suspect to the police van.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The neighbour who called the police holds the keys taken from the suspect.
A 22-year-old suspect was caught inside a house in Spruitview attempting to steal the owners’ property while they were away on holiday. The neighbours, however, spotted the suspect breaking into the empty house and called the police, who found the suspect inside the house when they arrived on the scene and observed how he had arranged a number of items for removal, namely electrical appliances, blankets and copper pipe. Captain Mega Ndobe, Communications officer of Katlehong Police Station, said
“The suspect is staying a street away from the house that he attempted to steal from. He was found in possession of a bundle of keys. Some of the keys were identified as belonging to other houses in the same street and the owner of the house was shocked as to how he got the keys.” He emphasized the role of neighbourhood watches, saying that they play a vital role in making sure that houses are kept safe while people are away on holiday. The suspect was arrested and charged with house breaking with the intention to steal.
Katlehong police officers arrested two suspects aged 22 and 23 at Moleleki Extension 1 in Katlehong for attempted murder and for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. According to Captain Mega Ndobe, Katlehong Police Station spokesperson, police were on duty conducting their usual stop-and-search operation during the night when they received a phone call about a shooting incident taking place at Moleleki Extension 1. The police rushed to the scene and, on their arrival, found a woman who wanted to lay a charge about two young men driving a Toyota Conquest. She gave a description of the vehicle to the police, complaining that a gunshot had been fired at her from the car as she was about to enter the premises. “It is alleged,” said Ndobe, “that before she entered her premises, a Toyota Conquest stopped next to her. Two occupants climbed
out of the vehicle; one took out a gun, and fired a shot in her direction. The woman managed to run inside the house without injuries,” said Ndobe. Police started their investigation with a search of the vehicles around the area. The Toyota Conquest was spotted a few metres away from the scene and the suspects inside the vehicle were searched, with the result that a 9mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition was found inside the car. The woman identified the car and two suspects were arrested for attempted murder and for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. The firearm was seized and will be taken for ballistic tests for further investigation. The suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Court soon.

NOTICE OF FINAL REVIEW OF THE BASIC ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR THE PROPOSED RAND WATER PALMIET TO KLIPFONTEIN O6 PIPELINE WITH ITS ASSOCIATED STRUCTURES, EKURHULENI METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG PROVINCE NEAS Reference: DEA/EIA0001333/2012 DEA Reference: 14/12/16/3/3/1/626 Notice is hereby given of the joint public participation process and public review period in terms of: the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA); and the National Water Act, 1998 (Act No. 36 of 1998) (NWA). Nemai Consulting have been appointed by Rand Water as independent environmental consultants to undertake a Basic Assessment Report for the proposed construction of O6 Pipeline which will extend from the Palmiet Pumping Station to Klipfontein covering an approximate distance of 25 kms, Ekurhuleni Municipality, Gauteng Province. The project forms part of a number of projects intended to augment the water supply to the Palmiet Pumping Station Supply System. The Palmiet Pumping Station provides water to the Meyersdal reservoir of Ekurhuleni through pumps at lower pressures than the Palmiet – Klipfontein system. to include a second alternative which was not initially considered. This alternative includes tunnelling from Signal Hill to north of Gillooley’s intersection. This is necessary due to space constraints along the Van Buuren O2 pipeline and there is no space for an additional pipeline. A large portion of the O2 is concrete pipeline so working too close to this will add to the risk during construction. The area within Van Buuren Road is well established and fully developed with existing underground infrastructure. Furthermore, Van Buuren is
6-years back before I met Akeem, I had gone through 8-different relationships that never lasted long. All the girlfriends I had used to laugh at me and separated from me because I had a very small manhood and very weak erections. But after I used different sex boosters from the pharmacy that all never worked, I became shy and lost interest in girlfriends. Finally I lost hope of being a real man. PERMANENT RESULTS! Luckily I met an old friend of mine, who is 68 years old and had been helped by Akeem with a similar problem like mine, he then referred me to him. I bought Akeem’s sex booster and within 7-days, my manhood had grown bigger, stronger & long up to the right size I always wanted. My erections also became very strong; I was shocked! Because for many years I had wasted money trying to fix this problem but 7 DAYS GUARANTEE! got no results, till I met Akeem. Today am a very happy man and I highly recommend Akeem to those experiencing a similar problem like I was before and are disappointed with other weak sex products. Remember size matters; Make your partner happy, let her not get into a secret love affair with another man to satisfy her sexual desires. Financial Problems Family Problems

Ruby FC wins inaugural Kathorus Cup Lebo Mosolodi
lebo@tametimes.co.za
Kathorus woman-owned team Ruby FC defeated all the other 23 male-owned teams at the inaugural Kathorus Soccer Tournament, walking away with R70 000, soccer kits, medals and a trophy. The tournament, which ran from 16 to 31 December, was the brainchild of the SCIP Engineering Company based in Ekurhuleni. In the first rounds of the tournament, which kicked off at Somhlolo Soccer Grounds, all 24 teams battled for the competition’s top four spots. The four top performing teams competed in the semi-finals, and the finals were held at Hunters Field Stadium in Katlehong. In the finals Ruby FC was pitted against Heineken FC and the soccer match ended in a 1-all draw. Both teams advanced to the penalty shootout, when Ruby FC’s goalkeeper Kagiso Mlambo managed to stop two goal-bound
balls which eased the path for his team-mates to secure victory. The final score-line was 4-3 in favour of Ruby FC. According to the owner of Ruby FC, Ouma Mofokeng, the team was excited to win the inaugural cup. “The tournament was difficult and all teams were well prepared; however, the best team won at the end of the day. We greatly appreciate that the tournament was held in our township. The tournament lived up to its mandate of urging drug users to refrain from drugs and start living positive lifestyles,” said Mofokeng. Tournament organizer Lungane Shongwe was excited that the sponsor of the event, SCIP Engineering Group, invested R 250 000 in the tournament. As if that were not enough, three lucky soccer fans who are studying engineering also stood a chance of winning a bursary from SCIP Engineering Group.
VICTORIOUS: Ruby FC footballers were in a jubilant mood after winning the inaugural Kathorus Soccer Tournament.
OUR AFRICAN COACH: Soweto born Coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba will lead Bafana Bafana in Afcon 2015. The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Equatorial Guinea on Saturday is dominated by foreign coaches. This situation has raised concerns about the direction that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is taking in developing football and local coaches on the continent. While the beautiful game’s pundits are continuing to preach about the African football renaissance or the development of footballers, most of the CAF affiliate associations snub domestic coaches and prefer to employ foreign coaches to lead their respective senior national teams. In the Equatorial Guinea Afcon 2015 there will be only three African born coaches leading national soccer teams. They include: the Democratic Republic of Congo team, which will be led by Florent Lebenge who was born in Kinshasa DRC; the Zambian national team, which is coached by Zambian born Honour Janza and the South African team, which is led by the industrious Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba. The other 13 countries taking part in the Afcon 2015 tournament will be led by foreign coaches. So, it is ironic that CAF has the ambition to see an African team lift the World Cup trophy in the near future. That seems to be a far-fetched dream, as most of the continent’s football governing associations have little faith in their own homegrown coaches. Africa is optimistic that the three African born coaches will prove the other countries wrong by winning the AFCON. This would make history and remind CAF and its affiliates that African coaches are equally skilled, and competent enough to rub shoulders with the best coaches in the world.
