Vosloorus drug dealer sentenced Charity Moyo charity@tametimes.co.za Mandla Samuel Mabuya (30) has been found guilty of dealing in drugs (mandrax) and sentenced to eight years imprisonment of which four years is suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not again convicted of contravening section 4(a) or 4 (b) or section (a) or 5(b) of Act 140 of 1992, committed during the period of suspension by the Vosloorus court on 4 April. According to Detective Sergeant Floyd Shabangu of Vosloorus Police Station on 14 November 2013, the metro police received a tip off from the public about three male suspects dealing in drugs around Vosloorus and that they are heading in the direction of Durban. The police immediately rushed to the N3 highway and stopped the blue Toyota Corolla that was Mabuya and his two accused friends. The metro police searched their car and found 1004 tablets of mandrax inside the subwoofer, to the street value of R200 000. The three suspects were arrested and a case of dealing in drugs was opened at Vosloorus police station. The accused appeared at Vosloorus court on 18
November and the case was postponed for further investigations. They also appeared for the second time on 13 January 2014 for bail application which was R10 000 each and the case was postponed for further investigations. On 27 January they appeared in court and it was postponed to 31 January for further investigations. They appeared on 3 March and the case was again postponed until 4 April when Mabuya pleaded guilty and was sentenced. The two other suspects were released and the car was pounded. “We acknowledged the support from the community by giving the police information that led to arrest of the suspects. We need more information from them regarding people dealing in drugs so that they can be apprehended. In most cases the drug dealers walk free in court due to lack of evidence but with the evidence from the community they can be nailed and make our area clean from drugs,” said Detective Sergeant Shabangu. Bonga Mthembu has the ability to keep radio listeners glued to their favourite Kasi FM channel while informing, educating and entertaining the listeners with great local music. His reputation as one of the finest presenters in Ekurhuleni earned him a nickname “The Chosen One”. Mthebu said he does not have any academic background in broadcasting, but learned his craft through working experience in Kasi FM. “I joined Kasi FM in 2000 after matriculating and never looked back. Between 2000 -2003, I was working as a newsreader for the same radio station and I was later mandated to be a head of news. Then I was given a 3am-6am slot called Kuyavukwa (wakeup). As if that was not enough, I was shifted to 9pm – 12 pm hosting a popular show called “The late Night Affair”. I have also hosted the 9am- 12 midday show called Browsing Around”, said Mthembu. Currently, he is hosting “Kasi to Kasi show” starting from 12am -3midday. Listeners are passionate about his show because he tackles social problems and community development topics. His choice of music is appealing across all ages. “I have been chosen two times in succession as finalists of Ekurhuleni Community Awards. Last year I was for the first time chosen as the best radio personality in Ekurhuleni Community Awards which is a greatest honour in the City of Ekurhuleni. My role models are Cyril Bongani “Kansas City” Mchunu and Fana “Khabzela” Khaba,” said Mthembu. He is currently married with two kids living in Mavimbela Section at Katlehong. His dream is to move to greener pastures when the time is ripe but eager to learn from his predecessors in broadcasting industry.

Nkosinathi Nhleko wants talented soccer players to showcase their talent.

We will then proceed to both Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape from 18 April - 27 April. Talented South Africans
football players ranging from 17-25 years old are invited to take part in the soccer trials so they can compete in Sweden,” explained Nhleko. The successful candidates stand a great chance of featuring in the Showcase & Competition Against Professional Club to be held in Sweden from 29 July9 August. The registration fee for the trial is R600. The competition has been in existence for the past three years held twice per year. In
the past years they competed in both Turkey and Sweden. “There are two talented South African soccer players who are already waiting for their medical report before they sign with European teams. Their work rate and talent impressed the overseas soccer scouts, but we are unable to disclose their names at this stage,” concluded Nhleko. Interested soccer players should contact Nkosinathi Nhleko at: 071 914 0497.
