Tampa Prep is seeking a qualified Building Engineer who will report to the Director of Facilities and work collaboratively with both the school community and outside vendors to maintain the school’s buildings, equipment, and grounds.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
• Ability to operate lifts as needed to perform the job.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry.
• Must be able to pass a thorough background screening.
• Ability to work from sketches, blueprints, drawings, and close out book.
• Ability to use computer-based software.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
major responsibilities
Supervise and/or perform the following tasks:
• Basic Carpentry
• Drywall Repair
• Painting
• Acoustical Ceiling Tile Installation/Replacement
• Locksmith and Door Installation and Repair
• Ceramic and VCT Tile Installation and Repair
• Carpet Installation and Repair
• Cabinetry Installation and Repair
• Basic Roofing Repair
• Oversee the work of outside painting, carpentry, and roofing contractors.
• Collaborate with the Director of Facilities on department purchasing.
• Update and maintain adequate inventories and contact vendors for pricing, purchasing, and follow up on unsatisfactory products and service; research building specifications to obtain parts.
• Maintain provided tools and equipment.
• Attend all necessary safety and equipment operator training as well as technical training classes to stay current with techniques and equipment.
• All other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and/or Head of School.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
• Must be able to stand continuously for up to four hours.
• Must have a range of motion adequate to facilitate stooping, kneeling, reaching and balancing.
• Must have adequate close up and distance vision required for reading, driving and seeing work (corrective lenses are permitted).
• Must have the ability to tolerate normal winter and summer outdoor temperatures.
