Theatr Mwldan is situated in the centre of Cardigan - turn left at the north end of the High Street/Pendre. There is ample parking behind the theatre for cars and coaches. Parking is free after 6pm. CROESO I RAGLEN NEWYDD THEATR MWLDAN SY’N CYNNWYS EIN RHAGLEN FFILMIAU O 20 MEDI HYD AT 9 IONAWR A PHERFFORMIADAU BYW HYD AT FAWRTH 2014. WELCOME TO THEATR MWLDAN’S NEW PROGRAMME WHICH INCLUDES OUR FILM PROGRAMME FROM 20 SEPTEMBER TO 9 JANUARY, AND LIVE PERFORMANCES THROUGH TO MARCH 2014.

Mae’r Hydref yn agosáu a’r nosweithiau’n tywyllu’n gynt, felly gobeithiwn y byddwch yn dod o hyd i ddigon i’ch ysbrydoli a’ch difyrru yn y Mwldan. Bydd ein rhaglen o berfformiadau byw yn cynnwys comedi, cerddoriaeth, dawns, syrcas, drama a sioeau cerdd, tra bod ein digwyddiadau darlledu byw trwy loeren yn cynnwys rhai o gynyrchiadau gorau’r byd. Yn dilyn ei llwyddiant ysgubol dros yr haf gyda Bianco, mae’n bleser gennym groesawu’r syfrdanol Syrcas NoFit State yn ôl i lenwi llwyfan y Mwldan gyda llond lle o ‘Noodles’ yn ystod hanner tymor! Rydym wrth ein bodd ein bod yn teithio rhai o gerddorion gorau’r byd yn dilyn eu perfformiadau yn WOMEX 13 yng Nghaerdydd – bydd taith Gorwelion yn ymweld â 16 lleoliad mewn 4 diwrnod rhwng 27-30 Hydref, gan gynnwys y Mwldan. Yn ogystal, mae ‘na amrywiaeth o ffilmiau i’w mwynhau – eisteddwch yn ôl, bodiwch trwy’r rhaglen, a chynlluniwch eich ymweliadau â’r Mwldan. Edrychwn ymlaen at eich gweld yma’n fuan! As Autumn approaches and the evenings draw in, we hope you’ll find plenty to inspire and entertain you at Mwldan. Our live performance programme features comedy, music, dance, circus, drama and musicals, whilst our live broadcast satellite events feature some of the world’s finest productions. After their stunning summer success with Bianco, we’re delighted to welcome back the brilliant NoFit State Circus who will be filling the Mwldan stage with a large helping of Noodles during October half-term! We’re also very excited to be touring some of the world’s finest musicians after they showcase at WOMEX 13 in Cardiff – the Horizons tour visits 16 venues in 4 days between 27-30 October, including Mwldan.

VERMEER AND MUSIC: THE ART OF LOVE AND LEISURE This autumn, the National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition on one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all-time: Johannes Vermeer, painter of the Girl with a Pearl Earring. Vermeer painted little more than 30 works that still exist, and the National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music. Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitter and the society. The event film goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer's life and, in doing so shows in detail many other of the artist's great works. The programme is perfect for those who adore Vermeer's work and who want both to see it in detail and to learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man. Featured as BBC Music Magazine's Rising Star in June 2011, Alexandra Dariescu is an outstanding communicator, hugely popular with audiences. In 2012 Alexandra made her debut at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall where she was one of five young international pianists invited by Andras Schiff to join him in a residency. She has given recitals at the major venues and festivals throughout Europe and further afield including Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Cheltenham (broadcast by BBC Radio 3) and Bath Festivals, among many others. This season Alexandra makes her debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and appears as soloist at the Barbican, Bridgewater Hall and at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. DON QUIXOTE Carlos Acosta presents his first work for The Royal Ballet – a dance adaptation of the classic novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Acosta has already established himself as an exciting choreographic talent with Tocororo – A Cuban Tale, a semi-autobiographical work that draws on his childhood in Cuba and broke box office records at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2003. The adventures of the bumbling knight Don Quixote and his ever-faithful squire Sancho Panza have been the inspiration for countless ballets, of which one of the most well-loved is the version by 19th-century Russian choreographer Marius Petipa. Acosta has danced the virtuoso role of Basilio many times, and now brings his unique and vibrant vision to the story, drawing on Petipa and with music by Ludwig Minkus, full of Spanish flair and atmosphere. Don Quixote, with its famously bravura Act III pas de deux and its infectious joie de vivre makes for a wonderfully entertaining evening. Addasiad dawns o’r nofel glasurol gan Miguel de Cervantes. THE COMMITTEE MEETING An hilarious evening is in store with two of Wales finest comedians as they deliver a delicious session of character comedy with a democratic life of its own. The entirely loveable Elis James (BBC 2’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats) from Carmarthen is no stranger to Mwldan, and has been gathering acclaim as “hugely appealing” (The Guardian) and “a complete joy” (Time Out).

With accurate planning, and the help of a very reluctant housekeeper, he successfully juggles three gorgeous air stewardess fiancées, each unaware of the others - one up, one down and one pending!

The "affectionate and charming" (The Sunday Times) Chris Corcoran is best known as Rhod Gilbert’s co-host every Saturday morning on BBC Radio Wales and "makes you feel good" (The Times).

But turbulence hits Bernard’s perfect life when his friend Robert comes to stay. Weather-delayed flights and a new, faster Boeing jet send his busy love life into chaos. Soon all three stewardesses are grounded in Paris and poor Robert struggles to remember which lies to tell to whom, and pandemonium ensues.

In The Committee Meeting, arguably the best thing to happen in the Valleys since 1992’s Garden Festival of Wales, Corcoran and James bring a chaotic night of workingman’s club culture to Mwldan. Corcoran presides as Mr. Chairman, whilst James adopts the persona of club caretaker Rex Jones. It’s comedy gang show, committee style, plus bingo!

THE NOSE (HANDEL) William Kentridge stormed the Met with his inventive production of Shostakovich’s opera, which dazzled opera and art lovers alike in its inaugural run in 2010. (VERDI) The French have occupied Sicily, and Hélène is held hostage by Montfort, the French governor, who has had her brother executed. She turns to the partisan Jean Procida and the rebellious patriot Henri in her bid for vengeance. Les Vêpres Siciliennes is one of Verdi’s lesser-known mature operas, but was vital to his development as a composer. It was created for the Paris Opéra in 1855, providing Verdi with an opportunity to embrace the elaborate style and traditions of French grand opera. Stefan Herheim brings Verdi’s tale of revenge, family relations and patriotism to Covent Garden for the first time. His imaginative production draws parallels between the opera and the opera house for which it was written, including a spectacular re-creation of the Paris Opéra itself. Musically, the work contains impressive choruses, passionate duets and some wonderful showpiece arias for the principal singers. Particular highlights include Procida’s aria on returning to Sicily ‘Et toi, Palerme’, the Act IV duet ‘De courroux et d’effroi’ in which Hélène expresses her sympathy for Henri’s dilemma and Hélène’s brilliant Act V boléro, ‘Merci, jeunes amis’. Mae chwarae’n troi’n chwerw go iawn yn y ddrama ddoniol, ddeifiol hon. Dyma un o ddramau mwyaf llwyddiannus y ddegawd ddiwethaf. Two sets of parents meet to discuss their children’s unruly behaviour – one child has hurt injured another in the park. All gets off to a good start, but as the meeting goes on, and as Penderyn is consumed, the parents’ behaviour gets more and more childlike, and the meeting comes to a head in complete disaster. This is one of the most successful dramas of the past decade, having won a host of awards. After a sell out tour last year, Theatr Bara Caws have decided to resurrect the show for 2013! THE NUTCRACKER (TCHAIKOVSKY) Clara, a young girl, creeps downstairs on Christmas Eve to retrieve her favourite present. But a mysterious magician, Drosselmeyer, is waiting to sweep her off on a magical adventure. Pyotr Il'yich Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker score was commissioned by the director of the Russian Imperial Theatres, following the resounding success of Sleeping Beauty in 1890. Marius Petipa created the scenario – based on a fairytale by E. T. A. Hoffman – and Lev Ivanov provided the choreography. The Nutcracker was first performed in 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. It initially had a poor reception, but its combination of enchanting

choreography and an unforgettable score have since made it one of the best-loved of all ballets. In Peter Wright's classic production, the stage sparkles with theatrical magic – a Christmas tree grows before our eyes, toy soldiers come to life to fight the villainous Mouse King and Clara is whisked to the Land of Sweets on a golden sleigh. Tchaikovsky's score contains some of the best-known melodies in ballet, from the flurrying sounds of the Waltz of the Snowflakes to the dream-like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the vigorous Russian Dance. Julia Trevelyan Oman's designs draw upon 19th-century images of Christmas, making this a classic production for the festive season.

JAYSON GILHAM (piano) Beethoven: Two Rondos Beethoven: Sonata in A major, Op 101 Schumann: Études Symphoniques, Op 13 London-based Australian-British pianist Jayson Gilham captured the hearts and interest of music lovers across Britain with his performances in the 2012 Leeds International Piano Competition. As a finalist he performed Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Hallé Orchestra and conductor Sir Mark Elder in the Leeds Town Hall. 2012 also saw Jayson being named Commonwealth Musician of the Year and Gold Medal winner of the Royal Over-Seas League’s 60th Annual Music Competition. How do eco systems and cultural identities flow in and out of each other? How are identities – plants, animals, people, languages – made, hybridized, conserved, degraded or destroyed? Colquhoun explores the rooted and slow time culture of localism, languages, gardens and ecosystems as they meet the uncontrolled energy flows of globalisation. STEPHEN WEST: DRAW BREATH Stephen Wests works are neither realistic nor abstract but suffused with the energy and motion of the drawn line and rhythmic mark, whether in two dimensions or in sculpture. In response to the recent threat of the airborne spore from Europe which kills Ash trees, West has been working on large drawings recording a year’s cycle of ash trees round his home in Llangadfan. Also on display here are a collection of satirical and surreal drawings of meetings, some referring to Picasso’s great anti-war masterpiece ‘Guernica’. Nid yw’r darnau gwaith Stephen West yn realistig nac yn haniaethol, ond yn llawn egni a mudiant y llinelliad a’r marc rhythmig, naill ai mewn dau ddimensiwn neu mewn cerfluniaeth.
