We have are some very BIG things happening at Mwldan this summer, with some giant family films coming up over the school holidays including The BFG, Pete’s Dragon, Ice Age: Collision Course and Finding Dory, all showing from date of national release.

Mae ‘na bethau MAWR iawn yn digwydd yn y Mwldan yr haf hwn, gyda ffilmiau teulu anferthol yn dangos yn ystod gwyliau’r haf gan gynnwys The BFG, Pete’s Dragon, Ice Age: Collision Course a Finding Dory, y cyfan yn dangos o ddyddiad y rhyddhau cenedlaethol.

We’ll also be presenting a superb line up of artists over the summer at Cardigan Castle – Only Men Aloud, From The Jam, The Three Welsh Tenors, NoFit State Circus, Ar Ôl Tri, FFUG, Illyria and roots reggae legends Talisman! There’s also great live music on the horizon this autumn with Ralph MacTell, Lynched and Sam Lee and comedy with Seann Walsh and Mark Watson.

MORGAN GRIFFITH & Jo Hinchliffe The Dental Cosmos

Artist Morgan Griffith (sonomano) uses found images to create beautiful, funny, unnerving collages. This exhibition will present these works alongside kinetic assemblages, created especially for Oriel Mwldan with his collaborative partner Jo Hinchliffe (concretedog). Drawing together images that seem to have come from very different places, the works cry out for the viewer’s own interpretations of the stories behind them. ANTONIA DEWHURST Haearn/Iron

For over a century corrugated iron has been woven through the fabric of the rural Welsh landscape. While not unique to the region, it is nevertheless an integral characteristic of our countryside. The material, loved by some, loathed by others, is so ubiquitous that it often goes unnoticed as it weathers back into the earth. This project sets out to record what remains of these structures before they disappear entirely. Through photography, video, sound and sculpture, Antonia Dewhurst will investigate the role of architecture as a metaphor for the human condition, our universal need for shelter and our complex relationship with that which we call ‘home’. We are delighted to present a series of live shows for summer 2016 on this fabulous historic site in co-promotion with Cardigan Castle. Please note the following important information. • Tickets for all these performances are available from Mwldan’s Box Office on 01239 621 200 or website mwldan.co.uk. • This year we will be running a scanning system at the entry point for these events. All tickets issued for these events will carry a QR code (like a barcode) that is unique to the individual, and can only be used once. • You can bring your print at home ticket (IMPORTANT - please ensure when you go to print your tickets that you use the ‘Click Here To Print Your Tickets’ link which contains the QR codes, and NOT the ‘page summary’), your physical ticket (if booked in person), you can show your booking code on your mobile phone, or you can collect your ticket on the night and have it scanned to gain entry. • Subject to availability tickets may be purchased on the door. THE THREE WELSH TENORS TRI TENOR CYMRU With support / gyda chefnogiaeth Ar Ôl Tri Aled Hall, Rhys Meirion and Aled Wyn Davies are The Three Welsh Tenors, three distinct and unique voices which complement each other perfectly. Each has a successful solo career and they have between them countless opera appearances worldwide, including Welsh National Opera, Opera Australia, Frankfurt Opera and English National Opera. Enjoy a wonderful evening of opera favourites, popular Welsh songs and hymns, and songs from musicals with something to suit every taste and occasion. The Three Tenors are accompanied by Jeff Howard. Ar Ôl Tri started life thirty years ago as a small group of ten, singing only unaccompanied songs of varied styles. Now boasting 30 members they regularly compete in eisteddfodau cenedlaethol, as well as performing numerous charity concerts.

Rose is horrified! Gilbert & Sullivan’s glorious spoof of gothic haunted-house stories gets the complete Illyria treatment. NoFit State and Motionhouse

One of the world’s most celebrated circus companies, NoFit State Circus have been presenting incredible open air productions for the past 30 years. Following on from the stunning Bianco and their scrumptious show Noodles at Mwldan in 2013, we’re delighted to present the towering spectacle that is BLOCK in the grounds of Cardigan Castle. Working in collaboration with one of the UK’s foremost dance-theatre companies Motionhouse, the starting point is a structure inspired by the game of Jenga. Twenty oversized blocks are deconstructed and reformed into an infinite variety of shapes for the performers to play on, move with and explore. BLOCK is about living in a modern city, a nest teeming with activity, with human life streaming through it. Living large, fast and sometimes living in the cracks, this extraordinary cast stay on their toes to survive and thrive in the world of blocks. Back in the day Talisman led the charge of the UK’s roots reggae scene, a sound that revolutionised a country. They signalled the birth of a new Britain in which the neofascist National Front was consigned to the margins and musical crosspollination became the norm; Bob Marley celebrated it with Punky Reggae Party, and Talisman could be found sharing a bill with acts as diverse as Burning Spear, The Clash and The Rolling Stones. Thirty-five years later we’re delighted to welcome them to Aberteifi to share some peace and love for everyone! FFUG Mae FFUG wedi hawlio ei le fel un o’r bandiau gorau ar y sîn cerddoriaeth Gymraeg, ar ôl cefnogi’r Super Furry Animals yn ddiweddar ar eu taith. Mae eu halbwm eponymaidd FFUG allan ar 29ain o Orffennaf. Yn fyw, maent yn wyllt ac yn egnïol, gan herio persbectifau ac ystrydebau, ac yn arwain dyfodol newydd i ddiwylliant Cymreig a hir oes yr iaith. RSC Associate Artist Antony Sher plays King Lear, one of the greatest parts written by Shakespeare in this, one of Shakespeare’s most epic and powerful plays, directed by RSC Artist Director Gregory Doran. The Met Opera season opens with a new production of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. Nina Stemme makes her company role debut as Isolde—a touchstone role she has sung with major opera companies around the world. Her Tristan is Australian heldentenor Stuart Skelton, who sang Siegmund in the Met’s Ring cycle in 2013. An identity in crisis; a country in revolution. Anastasia is a ballet about one of the great historical mysteries of the 20th century, only recently solved. At the height of the Russian Revolution the royal family were executed, but afterwards a young woman appeared – apparently a surviving royal princess, the Grand Duchess Anastasia. Known as ‘Anna Anderson’, she couldn’t remember her past and she was presumed to be an imposter. Many wanted to forget the massacre and the Revolution; many believed, or hoped, that a princess could have survived, a remnant of the old world. One of Kenneth MacMillan’s first creations on becoming Director of The Royal Ballet in 1970, Anastasia is a dramatic and haunting exploration of Anna’s nightmare of memory and identity. To music by Tchaikovsky and Martinü, we follow the events leading to the murder of a family, and Anna’s confused dreams – or memories. There is a Celtic rainforest that lives and breathes in Wales. Birdsong / Can Yr Adar tells a story through music inspired by Carngafallt, in Powys. A complex ecosystem that makes up some of the country’s rainforest territory, trees that have lived for hundreds of years tell tales by day to birds from south of the Sahara and across Europe, birdsong fills the air.

RALPH MCTELL One of the great storytellers, Ralph McTell is now celebrating 50 years on the road. Known for his virtuoso guitar style, he is primarily a prolific and gifted songwriter. With a style that invites you into a unique world, he weaves a narrative that is both significant and poignant. Ralph made his debut in 1968 with the album ‘Eight Frames a Second’ and in 1974 the release of ‘Streets of London’ earned him an Ivor Novello Award. In 1993, Nanci Griffiths recorded Ralph’s song ‘From Clare To Here’ on her Grammy Award winning album. In 2002 Ralph was presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

One of the most highly praised operas of recent years, Kaija Saariaho’s yearning medieval romance L’Amour de Loin (“Love From Afar”), has its Met premiere this season. If for any reason you are unable to make a performance or screening you have booked for, your tickets can be returned up to seven days in advance of a performance, and we will issue you with a full credit note. Alternatively we can exchange your tickets for a more suitable performance of the same show or film, or in the event of a full house we will do our best to re-sell your tickets for you (although this cannot be guaranteed). Theatr Mwldan is situated in the centre of Cardigan - turn left at the north end of the High Street/Pendre. There is ample parking behind the theatre for cars and coaches. Parking is free after 6pm. Mae Theatr Mwldan wedi ei lleoli yng nghanol Aberteifi - trowch i’r chwith ar ben gogleddol y Stryd Fawr/Pendre. Mae ‘na ddigon o le i barcio tu ôl i’r theatr ar gyfer ceir a bysiau. Mae parcio’n rhad ac am ddim wedi 6yh.
