Our daughers both live in Ohio with the rest of our family. My husband and I travel pretty freely when we want to and additionally, we all enjoy to participate in competitive trapshooting on the weekends. I actually currently serve on the local zone board and the state board for the Texas Trapshooters Assn.

 abette Cade, MBA B

Accounting Adjunct

What do you do for our campus in your position? Currently, I'm teaching Auditing and Accounting information Systems in the evenings, but I've taught Accounting for NonAccounting Majors, Intermediate Accounting 1 & 2, Government & Not for Profit Accounting.

What is special about your position or department? I'm in a position here at the university, where I feel that I'm able to give back to the future accounting students now, as I've got over 25 years of actual working experience in various levels/positions of accounting, in many different business environments. I'm able to explain how accounting has transitioned over the period of time pre-Sarbanes Oxley to post-Sarbanes Oxley in this time frame, where there has been so much change. In my 3rd year teaching, I actually had one of my students graduate that was in my earlier classes, and since then a few more, but it was a real honor that the student had come back to me to let me know about their graduation and personnally had invited me to their graduation. I enjoy seeing my students in the hallways in the evenings or out around San Antonio, that will acknowledge me in passing. That just is really nice to see that a student will take the time out of their day to say "HI" to a professor they had previously. FEBRUARY 2022

What did your undergraduate journey look like? Are you a transfer student? I started my college journey over 20 years ago, I went part-time (1 class a semester for 3 year) then finally got up 2 - 3 classes - all in school - for my Associates Degree in Accounting, at a small community college - Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio. Afterwards, I transferred to their sister college, Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio) where I completed my Bachelors Degree to complete a double major in both Accounting and Management degrees both done online. I took a year off, then Franklin University decided to have a Masters program, and I was one of the 1st students go through their Master's Degree in Specialized Accounting, in an 18 month online program, to graduate with Cum Laude honors. After this, I did take another year off, then decided to go to Northcentral University (online) in AZ, for my PhD in Accounting, where I had been working on my degree for approx 5 years. I have completed all the necessary classes/requirements and have successfully tested to be able to complete my dissertation. The first 3 chapters are wrote and ready for IRB approval to still then finish the final 3 chapters for completing my dissertation. So at this point, I'm what everyone calls it ABD "All But Dissertation" status... P A G E 0 2

A tip from the Lead Mentor Howdy Jaguars!! I truly hope this semester is progressing smoothly for each and every one of you. As we jump into the month of February, I want us all to reflect on the most important aspect of love…self love. As a mentee or a mentor we should strive to embody this idea, of loving ourselves first. Self love is not selfish; you cannot truly love another until you know how to love yourself. In order for us to offer ourselves as a mentor we facts about first have to be in a state mentally, emotionally, Michael: major: and physically to do so. Biology Now how you approach the idea of self love is classification: Junior unique to you and your needs, but I have one transfer university: Arizona State University simple phrase to remind us of what self love Favorite 80's band: Daryl Hall & John Oates means. “Be to yourself, as you would be to your friend” FEBRUARY 2022
