The Jag Family Connection Keeping you in the know

Updates from the University & the Office of Family Engagement ●

Registration is now open for all students. If your student has not registered, please encourage them to.

To help with the unexpected impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Parking and Transportation Services is crediting $20 to all parking permits. This will be reflected on each student’s account.

Maymester and summer classes will also be administered online.

Student Business Services has allowed students with a balance of $1,000 or less to be able to register without any institutional holds. Previously, students were not able to register with a balance that was over $200.

Information Technology Services remains hard at work fulfilling requests. If your student is interested in checking out resources, contact Jessica Nino at jmnino@tamusa.edu or 210-7844361. If your student needs troubleshooting assistance or to drop off equipment, contact helpdesk@tamusa.edu or 210-784-4357.

Students are encouraged to download the SafeZone app during summer orientations and again during JagX. This app allows the University Police Department to track them when the button in the app is pressed during an emergency. If your student is still living in Esperanza Hall or going to campus for any reason, we recommended that they download the SafeZone App.

THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES

Credit/No Credit For Spring 2020: ● Starting April 15, 2020, students will be able to select the credit/no credit option on a course-by-course basis for the Spring 2020 semester. Please have your students check their Jaguar emails. ● A Q&A video has been posted to the academic advising webpage. ● Additional information can be found on the Registrar’s page. How can family members support their student’s online education? Highlights of the Week My family can best support me by understanding that when I go into my room for hours doesn’t mean I am being rude. It is because I need to get work done and focus on all the assignments I have. I am not ignoring them. And to also understand that this is a very stressful time and to check up on us and how we are doing. ~Lauren Mayes- Freshman majoring in Communications with a minor in Business

My family can support me when taking online classes by respecting my time when I’m in a virtual class or studying, even though I am at home. It’s easy to get distracted with your loved ones around so I’d appreciate my family understanding when I’m in school mode compared to when I am just home and open to do anything. ~Brianna Olvera- Senior majoring in Communications

They can support by adjusting their noise level when the student is actively working on schoolwork. ~Elisha Bedford: Senior majoring in Education
