Tanglin Trust School 2025 Tanglin Trust School is a not-for-profit, British international school in One-North, Singapore, offering an outstanding education for expatriate students. The school educates boys and girls between the ages of 3-18 years. We respect and nurture all students as individuals, seeking to inspire and celebrate their efforts in pursuing intellectual, moral, cultural, social, and physical development. Through teaching and modelling the core values of Respect, Responsibility and Purpose, Tanglin supports its students to be: • • • • •

Thinkers who acquire knowledge through resilient inquiry; Principled and reflective global citizens; Caring and thoughtful communicators; Open-minded and balanced; Successful lifelong learners.

Tanglin Trust School moves proudly toward its centenary in 2025. This strategic plan - Towards 100 Years of Excellence - provides a clear direction for the school’s journey. In doing so, we honour the past, embrace the present, and aspire to the future.

A Message from the Chair of Governors The Governors, both as a group and as individuals, have provided leadership and guidance to the CEO in the production of this strategic plan. They wholeheartedly endorse its outcomes and are dedicated to ensuring that the necessary resources are provided to fully realise its objectives. The Governors are committed to keeping Tanglin relevant to Singapore and to serving its international community by providing a world class British education.

will agree that the operations team do a wonderful job of maintaining our campus facilities. We will undertake a full master planning exercise and provide updates through that process. Compliance has become a significant element of every organisation across Singapore and globally. PDPA, Workplace Safety and Health, Cybersecurity threats, and a host of other mandated or best practice solutions require implementation by management with support and leadership from Governors. We are fortunate to have a range of governors with expertise in these key areas.

Tanglin Trust School has a lease on our current site until 2038. The site we occupy continues to be zoned Education in the most recent STA zoning exercise for Singapore. The previous iteration of the physical campus masterplan was presented in 2014. Having completed the Centenary Building, we must now lift our sights toward the 2038 lease period. In making ourselves an integral part of the One-North landscape, we are considering how we can modify elements of our campus. A number of buildings are aging and there is considerable upkeep required. I think you

Thank you for your continued support of Tanglin. Our Vision is to be one of the best schools in the world. The continued examination of current practice, understanding of contemporary research and committed leadership will help us to achieve this.

A Message from the CEO The Strategic Plan, One School, Exciting Futures was introduced in 2019. Our endeavours were punctuated by the COVID pandemic, during which our key focus became ensuring the health and wellbeing of our community, while keeping the school running and supporting our students through the challenges of learning in such difficult times. Over the last 12 months, we have maintained our focus on the strategic plan and are pleased with how much has been achieved.

focusing our attention. These projects - DEIJ, The Institute@Tanglin, Digital First, Centenary and Sustainability - are now reflected in the Strategic Plan. They are critical areas for us to consider in preparing our students for the future. I am grateful to the staff who have worked on these projects. They will continue to be the champions of our work and we will continue to report on the progress of each project in our annual Reflections publication. As we look to the future, we have modified elements of our strategic plan to ensure our efforts are better able to meet our students’ needs. We have included a ‘Future Ready’ strategic theme for both Tanglin Trust School institutionally, and for our students. We are a contemporary international school that has our students at its heart. Strengthening elements of the school through business services and our infrastructure is important to provide students with more and greater opportunities. There are also a number of new foci for us.

Striving to achieve excellent academic results, monitoring teaching and learning, creating educational resources, getting to know each other so that support is there in the tough times are essential processes in supporting positive educational outcomes. These intrinsic elements of life in schools form a virtuous circle. Sometimes, however, it is important to re-position the organisational intent by recalibrating our programmes. This might be a one-degree direction change for one area of school life, or a wholesale change based on a piece of research or evidence we have gathered that indicates change is necessary.

The Centenary in 2025 provides a fulcrum around which we can all collaborate and focus our efforts. I look forward to us all coming together as Team Tanglin to create Generations of Excellence.

We did this last year by identifying strategic projects that were timely and important in
