President’s Message
Boudoir and Competition By Randy Van Duinen – M.Photog. M.Artist. Cr. CPP FDPE FDAE FSA
I’m excited for our meeting in March with Marty Newkirk. Marty will have a live shoot to demonstrate her way of photographing boudoir photography and give us insight into her business. This should be a very interesting and educational program that you will want to be there for. In April we will have our annual photo salon. For new members this is your opportunity to have three experienced judges from outside the Tampa Bay area judge your work and give insight on your photography. If you are considering entering your images in SEPPA, PPA’s International Print Competition or FPP’s print salon this is your chance to see how judges score and to hear their critiques of your images. To me this is an invaluable source of education on my photography and helps me grow as a
The April salon also helps to determine who will become TAPPA’s photographer of the year as points from this competition and Print of The Month help determine who is photographer of the year. I look forward to seeing you at these next exciting meetings.
photographer to become the best I can be. It is also the chance if you are looking to get any of your degrees from PPA or FPP to get the insight you need and merit your images at those

This Month’s Program
Boudoir is for EVERY Body
Many of our potential customers believe that boudoir photography is only for those with perfect bodies but nothing could be further from the truth. Join Marti as she shares with you how she poses and lights her boudoir customers to showcase their best! We will discuss how to use posing and lighting to bring the attention where you want it to be. What is her least favorite feature and how to divert attention from those areas. What we can’t hide with shadows and posing, we will learn how to handle with composition or camouflage in a variety of creative ways. We will also talk about how to talk to customers to set them at ease during the session.
This program will consist of a presentation with a live model. Marti Newkirk is a Certified Master Photographer based in Lakeland FL who specializes in boudoir and portraits. She has been photographing professionally since 2010. She has earned Silver Medals in Professional Photographers of America’s 2015 and 2016 International Print Competition

with her images accepted into the prestigious Loan Collection. Her work has been featured on the cover of Southern Exposure, a Southeastern Professional Photographer magazine and Florida Photographer, the magazine of the Florida Professional Photographers Association. Marti was also named 2015 Photographer of the Year by the Professional Photographers Guild of Mid Florida. In 2014, she was awarded First Place in Children’s Photography in 11 states by the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association and earned her designation of Certified Professional Photographer, CPP. Marti is currently the President of the Florida Professional Photographers Association and the Vice President of the Professional Photographers Guild of Mid Florida, having served as President in 2015. In her spare time, Marti enjoys spending time with her close photographer network and her husband, the incomparable Mr. Bill.
