Dear Sir/Madam

8 Glebe View, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 8PZ // Flat 2-3 Arthur Street, Nottingham, NG7 4DW

I am in my second year of a Fashion Communication and Promotion degree at Nottingham Trent University and am seeking additional work experience within the fashion industry. I am writing to apply to the position of Fashion & Beauty intern for the two weeks commencing on the 29th March, as advertised on fashionworkie.com.

I demonstrated great teamwork whilst planning an end of semester exhibition, as well as using excellent communication skills to achieve a First grade in my first year of University. I am confident when working alone and was promoted whilst employed at Outfit, Arcadia to a role in which I had to work independently and eďŹƒciently. I used my initiative to complete tasks whilst delivering fantastic customer service and excellent verbal communication. I have continued to communicate clearly and enthusiastically at work and university and am looking forward to developing these skills further.

Last summer, I completed a period of work experience at Wonderland magazine, which prepared me for the high expectations of a fashion magazine. I loved the fast-paced, exciting atmosphere that assisting in the fashion cupboard provides. I have the ability to adapt to changing situations. I’m organized and understand deadlines, oering help where it is needed and using my common sense to be productive.

I would be delighted to work with the team at Closer as I admire the concept of delivering fast fashion advice each week, helping fashion and beauty lovers follow the best celebrity and high-street trends. Keeping up with fashion trends and news is a key part of my degree and I have built extensive knowledge of fashion references, which I think would be beneficial to your company. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application and I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Tara McGovern

cargo collective the element of this online portfolio that I really like is that the navigation bar follows the page when you scroll, it is in a fixed position.

this portfolio demonstrates that cargo collective can be edited to your style with the right html coding

I like that the header text of this portfolio is positioned over the photo and scrolls as a separate layer

this portfolio has the option to save your favourite pieces of their work so is extremely interactive

wix this portfolio shows the ease of usability as you can drag and drop images rather than having to use html codes

brief: research and identify the key trends for this season and design a booklet showcasing them through catwalk trends as well as street style.

trend booklet

{aw 15/16 trend booklet}

by analysing the designer runway shows, as well as street style in both london and nottingham, i have summarised the key trends for aw/15 womenswear within this booklet

trend 1: the twisted classics the new lady & the future mods as seen on Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott, Alexa Chung & Michelle Williams

trend 2: the extroverts the patchwork kids & the shout it louders sold by Ashley Williams, Sophia Webster, Anya Hindmarch, Libertine & Sibling

london zine

brief: collect and catagorise images from the recent study trip to london. choose a theme that is present in a group of your photos and create a zine around this.

looking at the grid form in the manmade structures that surround us in any city, ‘read between the lines’ shows the intricate detail that is considered when designing and building.

identity zine

brief: in a team of 4, you will explore the notions of identity. with the starting point of religion, you should then plan, design and create a zine. you should also produce a promotional poster, a piece of group writing summarising the big idea and creative concept and you may create an online presence for your zine

{hyper}

Hyper is a visually stimulating zine communicating how the digital revolution has infected our attitudes towards religion and how this is shaping celebrities as 21st century gods. Injected with a striking sense of satirical humour, we mock teen’s devotion to a hyper-reality, forming modern day disciples who religiously follow and worship their idols.

{about Hyper}

{end of semester exhibition: Identi-zine}

as part of the exhibition comittee for the end of semester show, I designed a poster as well as creating a facebook event to promote the exhibition. the style I chose to design the poster in is entirely representative of the semester we have just completed, with doodles to show the skills learnt throughout.

{zine-making} within a group, we were tasked to create a zine using magazines and papers. our design theme was film noir, and throughout we had to represent the alphabet. when completed, i photocopied and used my new-found skill of bookbinding to create a zine.
