Clear your brain

Clearing the clutter and improving creativity A disorganized workplace can be tiring and an antagonist to working. It will become your strongest enemy when you want to start working. Procrastination can be the worst product of clutter. A disarrayed desk can snatch a lot of energy and time from you. Even if you are not looking at all that junk on the table consciously, your brain tries to look at them and recognize each one of those things. Like too many files open on your PC, too many things in your vision are bound to take up the random access memory of your brain. Hence, de-cluttering gives your brain space to play around. On the flipside, clutter in your vision will keep your mind occupied. Hence, when you are about to be creative, it is best to do the following first:

1. Clear your brain Your brain is often filled with all the activities that you have to deal with in the short term and the long term. Having all these activities in mind can be quite tiring. Out of these you can even ignore many, while there would be some that cannot be ignored. Make a list of the priorities according to deadlines and start working on them and finishing them pronto.

2. Remove distractions Switch your phone to silent, turn off your PC and turn off the television as well. If you think that the people at home are a bigger problem, you can go to a library or at the office for serenity. Multitasking is a creativity killer.

3. Tidy up Sometimes the only things blocking your mind are the dirty laundry, dirty dishes and the mustard on your carpet. If you think that you can think of nothing, the best place to start is tidying up your house. Once you are done, it will give you a satisfying feeling and thoughts will automatically start to flow back again.

4. Follow the rule: Less is more When doing art or working on a novel, make sure to cut off the fluff and focus on the essentials. Your creativity will automatically increase once you do so. Thinking about all the extra things that you can do will always create a sense that you have too much to do. That will only make you tired. Plus, don’t take a bite that you can’t chew; this means that don’t take up a task that you are sure that you will leave undone in the end.
