Changing With The Times Dear Friends, Our Founder, St. Angela Merici, advises the Ursuline Sisters to always “change with the signs of the times.� Every six years, the Ursulines take an extended period of time for reflection and dialogue on the needs of the people of God. Through days of communal From Sister Nancy Dawson, prayer, faith-sharing and dependence on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we General Superior develop a new directional statement. This vision statement serves as a guide for our community life and ministries for the following six years. The directional statement is developed with total community input and is finalized through the process of consensus. In March of 2014, the Sisters will discern the leadership that will be needed to take our community in the direction we have set. The meetings to prepare for our leadership and to deal with other important agendas are called Chapter of Affairs. When in session, the Chapter is the highest governing body of the community. The canonical election, after discernment for new leadership, is called the Chapter of Elections. Each new General Superior has a non-renewable six year term of office and she is accompanied by several sisters who are chosen to share in the responsibilities of leadership in order to implement the future plans. The Ursuline Sisters ask for your prayers as we begin our discernment this July. We will complete the process with the formal installation of new leadership in June of 2014. The new leadership team will serve from June 2014-June 2020.
Appreciation For Our Angels!
Angels present themselves in many ways, often as people who do for others. We are blessed to know angels associated with the James and Coralie Centofanti Charitable Fund. With Sister Nancy Dawson are, from left, Dave Centofanti, Mark Graham, Dante Zambrini and Carol Potter. Their fund generously bestowed on us a $20,000 grant to underwrite our Ministry Conference Room project. This gift will help us continue our ministries and education with the use of 21st Century technology. Thank you!
