After four short years, already planning an impressive future, Taryn Ford sits down with the cool, calm, and collected womenswear designer Clair Buyens. W O R D S - TA R Y N F O R D

Atlanta based designer Claire Buyens is about to take the fashion industry by storm. Growing up, Buyens was able to figure her individuality and how to incoperate her perspective of life into her designs. Her minimalistic, relaxed aesthetic screams sophistication through a variety of textures and materials. In order to make her ideas come to life, Buyens looks towards the Earth and how people and things interact in daily life. She begins by researching textures and colors and builds from there. For her senior collection at The Savannah College of Art and Design, Buyens looked toward Iceland and the juxtaposition in the relationship between the modern, clean, and concrete architecture as well as the lush landscapes. Her aim for this collection was to tell a story through texture and proportion based upon the relationship between Icelandic terrain and it’s architectural history. Her unique perspective of the world around us is going to propel her to greatness. She is moving to New York shortly in the hopes of working alongside a small designer. As for what comes after that? Well, the rest of the world better look out. Buyens states that, “traveling and culture is important to learn about and discover in order to broaden the scope of what can inspire you or influence designs.

Jordan Morris AGENCY DIRECTOR/ OWNER

A Maryland native who currently resides in Northern Virginia, Jordan Morris is quickly making a name for himself within the modeling world. Morris’s interest in the industry sparked while he worked in New York for companies such as Peter Som, Nina Day Casting, and New York Model Management. During his time at NYMM, Morris became specifically interested in the casting process and strived to exand on making this interest a full blown career path. While enjoying his time with this company, he desired working independently. Morris states that this venture was a risky one but he believed that he would not be able to grow as much if we worked under someone else. His passion for this idea sparked the creation of BOY Model Management. While this agency aims to stick to industry standards as much as possible, it is Morris’s desire to challenge conventional beauty that sets his company apart. Jordan Morris has a beautiful passion for not only his agency but all the models he hires. His dream of scouting unique and talented models is what will sky-rocket him to success.
