TASMANIA’S COVID-19 VACCINE PROGRAM IS HERE The vaccine is safe, effective and free. Tasmania’s vaccinations will begin 23 February. Vaccinating everyone will take time so vaccines will be delivered in phases. Those at greatest risk of exposure or likely to experience serious illness due to COVID-19 will be vaccinated first.
PHASE 1A Workers in this group will be contacted directly about vaccination Border security and quarantine staff (e.g. police, security and hotel staff working in quarantine hotels) Frontline health staff at higher risk (e.g. key emergency, ICU, vaccination, testing and ambulance staff) Residents and staff at aged and disability residential care facilities *
PHASE 1B People aged 70+ years Other health care workers All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 18+ years Adults with underlying medical conditions Critical and high-risk workers including defence, police, fire, emergency services and meat processing
* The Australian Government will manage these vaccinations
PHASE 2B Remaining Tasmanians aged 18+ years
PHASE 2A People aged between 50–69 years Other critical and high-risk workers
Phase 3: Tasmanian children if clinically recommended and approved.
