Method Step 1 – Place bead over point commencing with the large hole side of the bead. This allows for the Antron Gills to lay straight above the eye of the hook when tied in.
Step 2 - Take a length of Antron Body Wool and tie in immediately behind the head with a single layer of tying thread. Remove excess Antron Body Wool and cover butts with tying thread. Whip finish tying thread and cut away from the hook.

Step 3 – Slide the gold bead up to the eye of the hook and snug down ensuring that the Antron Body Wool stays directly above the hook eye. Reapply the tying thread and form a under body of tying thread. Tie in at the hook bend the copper wire ribbing. Using only the tying thread form a tapered body approximately 2/3 the diameter of the 3/32” bead. Leave a gap behind the bead for the peacock herl thorax.
Step 4 – Wrap the copper wire 3 times around the hook shank at the bend to form a tag and then rib the tying thread body in even turns. Secure the copper wire behind the bead with several turns of tying thread. Remove excess copper wire.
Step 5 – Tie in a single Peacock herl by the tip and wrap 4-5 turns to form a neat thorax behind the bead. Secure with several wraps of tying thread then whip finish. Remove excess peacock herl and trim tying thread. Step 6 – Trim Antron Body Wool to 2 eye lengths. At this point the Chironomid fly is ready to fish. If so desired to give the Chironomid a shinny body thus emulating the larvae in the final stages before hatching, apply several coats of head cement to the body. Photos by Norm Cribbin
