Parachute Black Spinner Tied by Norm Cribbin Materials Hook: Mustad 8000N #12 or Kamasan B400 #12 Thread: Black 8/0 Uni‐Thread Tail: Hebert Dry Fly Hackle Dyed Black Post: Antron Body‐Wool Fluoro White – AW1 Ribbing: Uni‐French Silver (SM) Body: Life Cycle Nymph Dubbing Black Hackle: Hebert Dry Fly Hackle Dyed Black Method Step 1 – Starting one eye length back from the eye from a bed of tying thread. Stop the thread when it is just past the post tie in point. Step 2 ‐ Take a length of Antron approximately 50‐60mm long and double over the hook shank from below. Using the tying thread secure the Antron to the hook shank and form a small thread post. Step 3 ‐ Wind the thread to the tail tie in point directly above the barb. Tie in 8‐10 hackle fibres. The tail length should be equal to the shank length of the hook. Secure the tail fibres by winding the thread forward to the post. Step 4 ‐ Catch in a length of Uni‐French wire with several wraps of thread just behind the post. Wind the thread back to the tail tie in point forming a slender thread under body, whilst trapping the Uni‐French wire at the same time. Parachute Black Spinner

Step 5 – Apply dubbing wax to the thread and form a fine dubbing rope using the Life Cycle Nymph Dubbing. Wind the dubbed thread forward to the post forming a slender tapered body. Step 6 – Rib the dubbed body in the same direction as the dubbing using 4‐5 turns. Secure the wire in front of the post with the tying thread. Remove excess wire. Step 7 – Select a hackle that is suitable for a size 10 hook. Prepare the hackle stem by removing hackle fibres from approximately 5mm of stem. Tip: To limit the fibres splaying on the first wrap slightly more fibre should be stripped from the hackle stem that contacts the post. Step 8 – Apply dubbing wax to the thread and form a fine dubbing rope. Wind the dubbed thread once or twice behind the post and several times in front to form the small thorax. The thorax should be tapered to the eye. Step 9 – Wind the hackle around the post 5‐ 6 turns to form the parachute hackle. The hackle should be wrapped by commencing at the top of the thread post and each subsequent wrap applied directly below the previous one. Secure the hackle with the tying thread and trim. Step 10 – Using your thumb, index and middle finger stroke the fibres of the hackle back. Whilst holding the hackle fibres back form a neat head with the tying thread. Trim and apply Head cement. Step – 11 Trim post and groom completed fly. Apply liquid floatant if so desired.
